The U-Haul app did not work when I needed to return the vehicle! There was a bug when I needed to upload a photo of the dashboard to capture odometer/fuel level - I would take the photo and hit submit but it didn't process properly so kept on giving me an error message when I tried to advance to the next page that I needed to take a photo of the dashboard. Luckily I was able to get the checkout process to work using my browser, but a huge flaw in the mobile app that wasted about 15 minutes of my time trying to problem solve during my after hours return - and when I tried to get help over the phone, the wait time was nearly 1 hour long!David H.

My boxes arrived late and I wasn't notified they would be arriving late until the day of. I even called days prior to confirm that it was still on time and was assured the boxes were on track. When U-haul called to tell me, they had no information on where the boxes were or how long they would take past the original estimate. They offered me a 50 $credit.. but it cost me 250 $to cancel my movers the day of. Super frustrating and lacked communication. This is the second move that I've used U-haul pods and I will most likely try a different company for my next move.Amelia B.

The keys to the vehicle i rented was not available at time I scheduled and they had to switch over the vehicle completely due to not being able to find the key to the van I was assigned. It took over 20 minutes to get my rental.Kai M.
This was overall a very poor customer experience. My shipment was incorrectly sent to Seattle instead of Chicago, from San Diego. I was given zero explanation of why -- If It wasn't for me putting a GPS tracking device in my crate no one at UHaul would have known. I was called 5:30pm the night before scheduled delivery - it showed up a month late and I had to sleep on the floor for a month. My kitchen appliances were broken. Incredibly difficult to contact customer service. The woman who dropped off my crate on my street off her truck was very nice though. Overall so stressful & Very sad. Your contactless pickup and drop off system suck! Thankfully I will not be moving again anytime soon. I would never recommend anyone use the contactless system as it simply doesn't work. Also, I was on hold with customer service for 20 min before another customer helped me. My expected wait time to speak with someone was 90 minute. That's not cool. I was also charged a 25 $cleaning fee for some reason, even thought the truck was clean. Actual people at the facility were nice and very polite and helpful.LISA C.
The van's engine light was on creating anxiety. The van's passenger side mirror was repaired by uhaul staff with a plastic tie and painters' tape making the entire trip hazardous because on the first bump the mirror fell too loose to function. The rear passenger tire has a slow leak. I will reuse your location and rent another van within days. I've used it in the past and had excellent service and vehicles in excellent condition. I hope this was an exception to your otherwise great services, but this one time was not a good experience.VICTOR M.

I was using the mobile app to grab a rental. However, the ride was not ready for mobile use. When i arrived to pick up the assigned vehicle there were no keys. One of the workers walked up with the keys eventually and refused to speak with me or give me the keys. I then followed him as he drove away to the building, and i told him can i take the vehicle now? With a rude attitude he said no, this isn't your ride. I then shows him the app that had the vehicle number and my reservation. He said i have to go inside and wait in line. After going inside i was then told, NO this is an App request, you can walk up to the vehicle and drive away. I then explained what happened and everyone looked at me like i was crazy. I then went back outside, the vehicle now had the keys in the ignition and i drove way. Very sad that i lost 90 minutes on my reservation because you employees can barely handle minor transaction let alone support a mobile app that is recommended by Uhaul...mike D.

The U-Haul Website is very user unfriendly when checking on order, making changes, etc. Local U-Haul location phone numbers are not readily available. Is this "new and improved internet system" of U-Haul rentals more effecient than a "phone call"? Otherwise, the local U-Haul service personnel is courteous and effecient.CHARLES Y.

Your customer service for mobile pickup was abhorrent. When I tried to extended my reservation online, your booking system wouldn't process my request, so I proceeded to call your customer service line. I waited on hold for a collective TWO HOURS and was hung up on twice, without ever being connected to a customer service agent. I was utilizing mobile pickup and the odometer reading on the contract didn't match the vehicle. I went inside to the counter to explain the discrepancy and the representative at the counter (white 20-something guy) who could barely bother to look up from his phone kept trying to tell me that everything was fine because the gas was full. He either didn't know the difference between a fuel gauge and odometer or just wasn't listening (He also wasn't wearing a mask even though everyone else in the store was and it is currently mandated in Chicago for indoor spaces) Eventually I got him to pay attention and was able to correct the odometer situation and be on my way. I don't want to get anyone in trouble but maybe y'all need to review basic vehicle maintenance with the counter staff. The latinx gentleman who checked my vehicle back in was fantastic!!!!Claire F.

My reservation was mysteriously changed and canceled without my being notified. I discovered the night before my 8 am Saturday reservation that several days before the reservation had somehow been changed to a 6-day reservation starting on Tuesday, and then canceled and the fees removed--all without my notification. I got no help from the people on the phone, so I booked a new truck for the only time available on Saturday, 4 hours in the evening (instead of 6 hours in the morning). I ordered two dollies and was charged for them. They were not there. This was an awful experience. Dreadful.Patrick B.

everyone was nice, but my truck was switched at the last minute, I had to drive all the way down to Chicago when my destination was in Wisconsin, and the rep gave me extra miles and let me pick the truck up early, but they did not adjust the drop off time. That meant that I had to drop the car off way earlier than I originally needed it so it made things very complicated and I had to get on line and talk to a manager to get it resolved. Ultimately everything was resolved, and that was much appreciated. But because of all these logistical changes I had to spend an extra four hours between driving and being on the phone. It was not a great experience.Robert B.
Guy behind the counter was acting like it was a burden to do his job and help customers. He wasn't wearing any uhaul gear and it felt like he couldn't wait for me to leave. When all said was done he handed me my receipts for said you're all good to go. It wasn't until another technician saw I was struggling with my trailer that he came up to help.John L.

The manager pulled up in his vehicle really aggressively and started cursing at me and giving me attitude because I was taking trash out the truck that was not my trash and which should have been clean before giving it to me in the first place. Decrease call wait times or have system automatically call customers back. Improve system to make it easier for staff to read notes on file and to locate ubox reservations vs order numbers. Especially if the ubox is in storage and is not at the location per contract. Inform the customer verbally ahead of time that the uboxes might not be sent to the designated location if the location does not have space.camille G.

windows and windshield were nasty and wiper blades were dry rotted did not work in rain on my 1200mile trip.....that made it very difficult to see in rain also ac stopped working twice while on the last 5hrs of the drive but came back on after about 5mins of not working but it was over 93degrees so that couldve been bad truck ran well thoughROBERTA M.
Check out clerk was helpful, but setting up the reservation was painful at best. I was called multiple times and told my reservation of a 5x8 trailer would have to be picked up in Milwaukee and Im in Chicago. Once this was worked out as I ended up with a 6x12 trailer, the right indicator light did not work when I was at home and the process for putting in for roadside assistance was painful. First attempt was at 11pm and someone arrived at my house at 130am and I did not know and then they left without fixing it. The next morning I submitted another case and the person took 2 hours to get there to fix it because they came from Indiana to my location in IL. This delayed my 7hour trip by 3 hours and wasted a lot of my time. I am glad the mechanic fixed it but this should not have happened in the first place that the trailer PV 2404A had a bad light.James G.

This survey is not asking the appropriate questions. Ask me to rate the preferred location for pick up I would say very poor. We went to the preferred location six weeks before we need the truck, asked every question possible was never told we would not be picking the truck up at that location that we would have to pick it up 50 miles from our home. The day before our pick up day at 8am I received a text saying we will be getting a call from a certain # to make sure we answer it. Never got a call so at 4 pm I called. Was on hold for 30 min only to he told they have till 6pm to call. 6:30pm I went to the preferred location only to be rudely told we have to pick truck up 59 miles from our home in downtown Chicago. He had no idea why no one ever called us. Also told us that earlier that day he sent someone to Michigan to get there truck as he laughed and said that how it works, that's were your truck is. He cave us a phone # to call for scheduling to find out why we were never called and told why were weren't getting a truck from our preferred location that had a lot full of trucks. I called and no one ever answered. After an hour I gave up. So we went to Chicago location was greeted by the nicest lady named Wanda Ware. She was very helpful and needs to be recognized. We then were told to go on the link that was texted to us and check out the truck. The gas level did not match and the miles did not match. They said upload a picture of the mileage to the link and they would update it. Never got updated and when we returned they said we went over the allotted miles. I'm glad I took a picture of the mileage. But was told they never corrected the miles and still had to charge us 85 $for going over. Then after she closed out the transaction they could look at the picture I uploaded and then refund us. I refused to leave until the refund was done.JANEEN E.

We rented a trailer that was supposed to be in working order according to the agent. However, the lights did not work on the trailer causing a dangerous move. I contacted the agent in Chicago that stated "what do you want me to do?" I said I expected a credit. she said take it up with the drop off location in Atlanta which was closed and located in a terrible neighborhood connected to a storefront which was dangerous and of no help. 1.) I spent 3 hours trying to get my box delivered. People kept saying it wasn't possible, and would continually refer me up the chain. Each time I would be on hold for 45 minutes. I know companies like you intentionally make customer service as bad as possible to get people to not ask questions, but this was egregious. 2.) Estimated delivery fees were wildly different between pickup and dropoff. When I was getting it picked up, you said 50 $. It suddenly tripled at my destination. Dick move.Aaron W.

I needed to move a large piece of furniture less than a mile, so I reserved a truck and selected contactless pickup. When I arrived and tried to use my phone to check in, I got a message saying that I should go inside because the equipment had not been assigned. Inside the store, there was one employee with her mask hanging down off her nose and a few unmasked customers. The employee was complaining to a customer about her manager and did not seem to be in the mood to help. After waiting inside for a few minutes, I grabbed the managers card and went back outside. (We're in the middle of a covid surge, and I was not comfortable waiting inside around a bunch of unmasked people.) The manager told me that there weren't any of the pickup truck that I reserved available, but he could set me up with a van. As soon as I was able to begin the pickup process on my phone, the Uhaul site went down for scheduled maintenance. I called the manager again, and he said he could manually do the process on his cell phone. The move itself was pretty painless, until I returned the equipment. I was charged nearly 40 $for gas for a round trip of about 2 miles! This was my first time using Uhaul, and I will never use them again!Elizabeth H.

The staff at this location is really hands-on, polite, and helpful. I wish I didn't have to go so far from home to pick up my trailer, but dealing with these folks made it worth the trip. In the future I would probably specify this as my preferred pickup location, despite the extra miles.WILL R.

I ordered a rental van for 7:30pm, showed up early, but when I arrived the link did not work. It was past closing time, but I found a worker closing up who was generous enough to help me even though he was off the clock. He put the key in the box while I was there (so no one had put the keys in the box ahead of time. Had I not caught him, I would not have had access to my rental). I followed the link he set up, but when I got the code to my lockbox, it didn't even work. I managed to flag down another employee as she was pulling out of the driveway. She was gracious enough to stay and help. Turns out the code I was given was wrong too! This process took like 45 minutes from our rental time. All I can say is that the employees here were wonderful and helpful even though they were off the clock, but due to the errors in the rental system, I would be recommending that people avoid using Uhaul in the future.Brooke K.

I had a reservation prior to standing in the line to sign my contract. After waiting in line for 45 minutes I get politely told there are no more storage units at the facility... Even though I had a reservation. I then get a phone number of the manager to call so I utilize it and he starts texting me. He gives me a unit and which is smaller than what I reserved and when I get to the unit with the movers I'm paying BY THE HOUR...There is a pipe in the middle of it. Everything was pretty great. Well lit and clean storage facility. My only complaints/frustrations are: 1) requiring a round lock on the unit that is 3x the amount of a regular lock. Very annoying. 2) Hard to get ahold of someone via phone. They pick up and answer "please hold" without even asking who it is or the reason for the call. Although the facility was satisfactory-the rates were high. I only used the space for a month or so and started seeking other locations because the 97 $rate was going to strain me due to my recent unemployment. I found a similar space down the street that was 61 $cheaper. The staff at this location we're also not cordial or friendly. Their demeanor was more like,"I'm just here to do my job. Don't want to know about your day or you.". The only problem I has was that I reserved a truck to move 2 weeks ahead of time. And when I got there they had no truck for me. That was the main office who made the big mistake. Thank God that after a while I was still able to move.Maria R. | Expérience générale

The process to rent a unit online was easy, but when it came to moving in, I might as well have been invisible. The cashier barely spoke when I picked up the free lock, and then when I came back to find scissors because they had a plastic lock on the unit, she didn't even acknowledge my presence to see if I needed help. While the staff apologized for their errors, the service experience was poor. I prepped and reserved those two services online to speed up my visit on site but my visit took longer than expected due to some errors at the front desk. After my initial check in the storage unit process was not completed. I was also directed to a unit number that was in use by mistake. Not a great customer service experience. A side note: during my visit the U-haul reps were not wearing their face masks. They were however behind their plexiglass desk shields. My understanding it is strongly enforced by CDPH and BACP and may be something Uhaul upper management will have to review immediately.Miriam L. | Premières impressions
The place was surprisingly very clean. I was happy to see there is a rat trap in the unit. I love that the unit is armed when I am not there and is easily disarmed when I arrive. There were carts to use for free. I had all my stuff moved into a unit within a few trips because of the carts. Overall a very good experience.Nicole L. | Premières impressions

I was disappointed with how the staff is handling covid. There is a sign requiring masks in the storefront but I only saw one employee wearing a mask. Also we had taken the time to pre-register with our drivers license info. But when we came in to pick up keys, the staff was not able to load our reservation (problems with the network, they said) so they had to do it all over again. That's pretty frustrating when you're trying to avoid close contact with people and you've also spent your own time to take pictures of licenses etc.Brian F. | Premières impressions
