The check out process was super slow. Many people both renting equipment and buying supplies with two employees. Despite both working extremely hard and I don't blame them at all but, another associate would help.John G.

Be honest about when equipment is damaged prior to a new renter using it. I rented a truck for less than an hour to move bags of leaves and was charged so small scratches on the back of the truck that were impossible to notice from the images sent over. When I returned to the rental site and questioned them about it I now have to go through their insurance and dispute it. Just be honest.Brooke B.

It wasn't clearly stated that if I wasn't at the location for pick up at 10 that the truck I reserved would be rented to someone else. The truck I received overheated and I wasn't able to complete my move out with it under already terrible circumstances. The employees were all very kind though. Inspect trucks before they are rented. I drove a truck from Anchorage, AK to SLC, UT and had numerous issues that cost additional time and money. I would never rent from this location again.Kemish H.

Was given a vehicle that was known to staff as inoperable. The prior day it had broken down on the Highway and it had not been repaired. Five minutes after picking up it overheated and reduced power. Second vehicle had studed tires on it which are illegal to drive this time of the year. Policeman was not pleased.Bruce S.
Setting up and picking up the box was easy. Picking it up from storage to unload was horrible. Only number I was given was the store, call them to them I need to pick it up, give them name, phone #, reservation # nope can't find it. Then oh it's in storage, find it, can't do anything so have to forward to Traffic department. Spent 45 min on phone last week just to be told nope no trailers available but we can do next week. Called again this week another 1/2hr on the phone and was about told the same. There has to be a simpler way to schedule pick up of self delivery box.Mark R.

It took almost 2 hrs to pick up my rental trailer. The 1st trailer's tail lights didn't work. They tried to fix them but it was too old... no parts. They had me re-hook to another trailer. It was newer and had no issues. Then I had to go back inside to update the paper work. The U-Haul employees at this location were helpful and knowledgeable, but the corporation needs to sell off the rental stock it no longer supports.ROBERT K.

the girl at the counter Couldn't figure out how to do her job rather ask for help she took another call and left me standing there, i am disabled and no chair to sit down on, and 5-7 minutes she walked over to me as i sat down on the cardboard boxes and said i can help you now ;-( and still had a hard time and still didn't ask another employee for helpMichael B.
My only complaint is not with the location or staff, it is with the Uhaul customer service line. I called in to extend my rental and it took over 40min to get someone on the line to assist me with the exertion. Other than that my rental experience was great.Matthew T.

I reserved a truck from 9:30am to 6:30pm and someone over the phone put the wrong return time in so I was charged double for the dolly fee and almost another $29,95 rental fee for a few hours for one of your employees mistakes. Very bad customer service.Kirsta S.
I picked up and moved my own ubox but was charged a drop off fee that still hasn't been reimbursed. I also couldn't get ahold of anybody for 4 days trying to schedule my ubox pickup. When I finally was able to get my ubox from them, it was after I had to drive down and talk to them because nobody could help me via phone for 4 days or wouldn't answer which was far later than I was trying to originally schedule pick up (4 days) so any help I did have to unpack the stuff I couldn't do by myself was gone/no longer available. In short, it felt like my stuff was held hostage and I was charged (incorrectly) to get it back.KRISTEN K.

The U-Box was not delivered on time. It was supposed to arrive in the morning and was not delivered until after 4pm. The store location forgot and we had to call customer service, who was confused about the situation and was not helpful in coordinating the delivery to our house. When the U-Box did finally arrive, the hand truck was not delivered or the furniture pads. The delivery person told us they would go back and get the forgotten pads and hand truck and never came back! We had to actually drive over to the location to pick up the pads and hand truck. I think U-Haul overall needs better communication between customer service, roadside assistant, and the direct locations. The lady didn't even know the truck had broken down and I didn't have it anymore. Also, more time in between customers to clean the truck I received was filthy. Masks, papers, Styrofoam, Razor blades??, etc. Moving is already stressful and time consuming enough so having to be on hold a total of 5 hours between 3 days on moving to figure out my refund because you can't get everything fixed by one person is exhausting.Kayli C.

The service person in the building was helpful, however, no representative came to my vehicle to help me pickup the trailer or connect it to my vehicle to ensure everything worked properly. The staff were very helpful and friendly when I arrived in Anchorage, AK. I drove my self from Austin TX to Alaska with out any truck or tow bed problems. It was a very long 10 day trip driving through Canada and the Northern Rocky Mountains. They assisted me with removing my car of the tow bed. I only had 1 crack in the windshield from the long dangerous 90 hour drive. No flat tires and no engine trouble. I was amazed how well our U-haul handled the snowy mountain hills. The staff at this location were super helpful and made the experience really easy for pick up and drop off. I was pleasantly surprised at how quick it was. Big fan of that! The vehicle was not cleaned well, but honestly since it's spring in Alaska, I don't want to have to wash the truck to return it. When I picked up the van, I walked into the business and there was a gentleman walking around the store, reluctantly he came to help me at the counter. I had made my reservation online and was expecting to do a contactless pick up. This option, WAS NOT AN OPTION. The guy at the counter knew nothing about it. I gave the attendant my reservation number to now get assistance from an employee and he does not know how to get past the point of putting my confirmation number in. He then says he has to get someone else. I wait about 8 minutes for the guy to come in from riding around on the tractor outside to get help. The van was dirty, it smelled, it looked like the previous renter had an old shedding dog or cat. There were candy wrappers on the ground and gravel all over the floor and seats. The gas on the paper I was given said I had almost a quarter more gas than was actually in the van. As soon as I got to my house I called the customer service number. I spoke to a woman who advised me to take pictures and file a complaint. I did take the pictures but I have not been able to make a formal complaint yet. This was unacceptable. Ultimately I was not able to even use the truck due to a pet allergy. The truck sat outside of my house for 2 days, which is evident from the returned miles and also the gas. We are still in a global pandemic so the cleanliness of a vehicle, especially when interchanging the people in such a closed space SHOULD BE A PRIORITY. This is not the first time I have experienced dissatisfactory service from an Anchorage UHAUL location, it is a very toxic relationship to build with the community in which you are supposed to be helping.Danicia L.

Horribly customer service, better training would be great. Miscommunication between stores and customers service. Customer service stated I had a balance and charged my card 3-4 times because something was wrong with their system and said it was paid and then I received a bill 3 days later in the mail from the store for the same balance. Spending two hours of your rental time doing nothing but working through 1) staff inability to run computer effectively 2) staff training on company procedures. Eddie was great but he was going in 50 directions with two female staff who could not complete a purchase, finalize a rental contract or refund myself for packing items that were not used. Waited 40 minutes after getting my storage unit (1135) because there was a lock on it. It was a very frustrating. I will never use this facility nor Uhaul again in the future. Staff treated ever customer that I seen plus myself like it was an inconvenience. They did not explain the contract when moving in. When I rented my truck, I was told in my contract that I would have 1 month free rental, when I went to use that in Anchorage I was told that they didn't do it anymore (even though on the wall it still says that they do). Every time I went to address the staff they were ignorant and in un-professional. Told I couldn't get a storage unit because none available. Left the store went online and boom three units available and received on. Arrived and issued unit 1030 (reserved a first floor). Checked unit and it had a lock on it. Went back and he said he will work it out as I rented a $19,95 uhaul as well and he said I would have a unit upon return. Got in the uhaul and the fuel guage was off what he told me (took a picture) upon return I was issued unit 3030 (not what I reserved). Turning in the uhaul I mentioned I traveled a total of 12 miles and told him the gauge wasn't at 7/8 but closer to 3/4. He assured me he would make a note of it and I wouldn't be charged. Be aware of the hours you can access to the storage. They closed at 7pm even the website stated we have access until 10pm. We found out while we were loading the truck at 7pm. The staff came to lock the door. If we knew it before, we would have gotten 24hr access.MAKOTO M. | Expérience générale

I had many issues with the facility. Staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be, but they were overwhelmed. Way too many customers for way too little staff. I almost always had to wait. When I signed up for a unit, I was asked to sign an agreement, but was not given time to read it or given any paperwork. There was also a lock on my unit when I went to use it and I had to walk all the way back to ask staff to remove the lock (and wait for them to stop assisting other customers). When I arrived to move my belongings in, carts were being horded by other customers. These customers were not actively using the carts to transport items, but spent 30 minutes going through the belongings in their unit. I asked respectfully to use a cart and was declined. I then asked the staff for assistance. They did nothing to stop the cart hording. Also, while moving in my belongings, I was told on one occasion that I could not access the floor with my unit for an hour, because they were waxing the floor. I told them I needed to move everything out of my apartment that day and disregarded them and moved my belongings in anyway. In a month, I visited my unit about 14 days to move things in (and subsequently move things out). A number of times, alarms were going off. I have stored at other facilities and have never heard a single alarm. So something appeared to be going wrong with the alarm system. I had issues with getting my access card to work. I went and spoke to staff about it (Again, after waiting). They gave me an access number. I then realized that my alarm did NOT work at all. I even tested this out by not logging in and opening my unit - no alarm. I notified staff about this and asked them to have a manager call me about prorating my unit's rent. (I wanted to move out immediately and feel that UHaul is in breach of contract for not honoring the alarms they promised me). I waited a day. The manager never called me. I decided to move my belongings to another storage facility, but to wait until my month expired, because it was clear I was not going to be treated with respect or dignity. Customer service is important to me. If a facility will have this many things wrong with it and not own up to the issues and fix them, then that is a huge disservice to the community at large and to me.john s. | Expérience générale

My items were stolen as we were moving out. I called and management didn't do anything, he never even took my name down but said he'd call me back, which he never did. The woman who stole the items had been there for days rummaging through peoples' items as well as the free pile. It looked like she was trying to stay in the facility after everyone left, possibly staying in a unit. I have yet to receive a call back about my stolen items. I was transferred to multiple departments that ultimately left in a deadend with no one to answer me or the ability to leave a voicemail. The items stolen were over $400 in total, over twice the amount of my rent for a month. I would like a call back, or an email. I like this storage place but the only thing is the worker who gave me a storage unit did not give me an access card or code to get into the storage building after office hours, my guess is because they were so busy and they just totally forgot that part. Through either mistakes, incompetence, or criminal behavior all the items in my storage unit were disposed of FIVE days after I started to put them into the unit, using the access code I had been assigned. In addition I am being charged late fees for a unit (1027) that was not my unit. An insurance claim has been opened to recover a portion of the value of the items that have been lost. I am still in shock that, as an aritist, I have lost the majority of my artwork and that of others that I collected. I have also lost family heirlooms going back over 100 years. Also my jewelry and my passport. This is an active case. I have refrained from going public with my experience at this time as we work through claim process. A police report was filed. There was a lot of confusing and moving units at first because of damage to locking mechanism on the first one, then told to go to another, then another, and finally got one that wasn't being used. Staff at front seemed to be busy and not focused on the details but it was resolved. Still not sure if I will be charged for the right unit and if my prepayment will go through properly. The Manager has a put the customer first attitude and it was obvious because of the way the store and equipment was well maintained. I have used the services of this location several times and each time the service was exceptional. I will definitely refer friends and colleagues to this location. The staff was always Very grumpy and rude. They acted like helping you was a chore and it was quite concerning. The only gal that was super sweet was the older cleaning lady that came the the storage building. She was always so friendly and helpful. I always felt bad for her because she had to clean up some really nasty stuff left by people at the entrance. She should get some kind of compensation.
