I arrived with empty truck for turn-in but it was unclear where i needed to put it, and there were no employees anywhere to help guide the process. After several minutes i left the truck where i thought it should go and went inside looking for help. There was only one employee and a long line. After waiting about ten minutes and the line not moving, i just went up to the front of the line to ask if it was okay to leave the truck where i had left it. He said yes, you can leave the keys in it. That's what i did, but ultimately if had been clear either through email instructions or onsite assistance, i could have done it in 20 seconds instead of 20 minutes.

Our key did not match our reservation, and we had to spend some time fiddling around with that. We got help, but it was an extra bit of stress during an already stressful day. But I'm so glad that Amber was able to make it right, and we got a discount from our fuel contribution.

The staff behind the customer service desk are not able to speak proper English. Please have the staff take a course on how to be professional and not talk to customers like they are hanging out in their neighborhood.

I have tried to call several times to this location regarding over charges on my account with renting a cargo van from U-Haul and yet I have Not received a phone call as of yet. I felt as though I was being overcharged and still have not gotten a phone call to even explain what these charges were after I got a finalized receipt from U-Haul.

Wait times are always a little long but I understand that there are more responsibilities than just renting the equipment. I asked for a 7am rental but when my contract came it was foe 12. I was able to get it at 11 so I didn't lose a lot of time.

The Timberlake staff was great but my original reservation was at the Park avenue location in Lynchburg. The park avenue staff was extremely rude, unwilling to help, and frustrating to speak with. I had a reservation for a one way truck to which the representative told me there was nothing she could do for me and to “go on somewhere”. I find it extremely frustrating that I was told repeatedly they couldn't give me a one way truck because they couldn't mess up anyone else's reservation, however my experience and my reservation were sacrificed? It just doesn't seem right. If there is an issue with trucks being returned the customer with a reservation should NOT be punished. My recommendation is getting the person with a reservation who is there to pick up their truck should get whatever is there. Uhaul single-handedly caused what was supposed to be a joyous, well planned moving weekend into a chaotic and stressful environment for me and all of my family. I will never use this company again after the hoops you required me to jump through even with a reservation.

My overall experience was good but be on the lookout because I was charged extra fees after everything was said and done. It got resolved but you know how that is, they're quick to take it but slow in returning it!

During the snow storm storage access to unit was very difficult since they did not clean snow in front of units, and no help provided by management to access for almost one week. Not good management.

We ordered 2 UBoxes for our coast-to-coast move; Even though we were scheduled well in advance (over 2 months out), not only did they delay our box delivery with less than a day notice, but they showed up with only 1 of our 2 UBox rentals. The woman delivering said someone was supposed to have contacted me, but we had recieved no such notice. Because we had scheduled movers arriving within the hour, and already had to reschedule them due to the first uhaul delays, we now only had 1 crate instead of our promised two with no time left to reschedule yet again. UHaul was ultimately willing to bring us a second box, but we should not have been put in the position of needing to demand the box we reserved; it should have already been on it's way. We had to pile our belongings on the street while we waited for the second box. The delivery drivers were lovely people, the rest was a very poor experience for the amount of money we were paying.

I called to request an extension for the 15 foot truck and was told that I had to return the truck and that there were NO 15 foot trucks available. I returned the 15 foot truck only to rent another 15 foot truck the same day of the return. To make matters worse, the truck that I returned was available. I had to spend more money on gas and the mileage fee that I would not have had to spend. There was also the time wasted and during a move, time is precious. I would love for U-Haul to make this right.

More than one person that can process the rentals. Wait time was too long to get completed and be on my way. I was in line for 20 minutes and then another 15 to 20 to get the truck and leave. I had made the reservation online and completed all of the preliminary needs then. It should not have taken as long as it did.

Charged me a $30 fuel service fee when the truck was returned with the same amount dispatched!! Really $30!? They said the Fuel level was below 1/4 and 3/8 really?

Just because a customer clicks yes on the exit survey doesn't mean that the trucks are clean or are running properly. When the sun hit our windshield the dirty glare was hard to see through. The mileage on the truck was almost at 80k but the steering on the truck felt like the truck had 280k on it. Completely worn out and dirty.

The specific truck I had rented had a torn up passenger seat, a high pitched whistle anytime you drove more than 40 mph and it just got louder as I drove faster and was rather bouncy/shaky. It did the job I needed it to do but I wish it didn't take so long to get up to speed. Luckily I only moved about 45 minutes so it didn't bother me too much but if you are moving any much farther I wouldn't suggest it. Maybe bigger trucks work better.

I rent vehicles from you all the time and this is the first location that charged me an extra day rental for being 40 minutes late in returning. I dropped it off so I am not even sure this is correct as I left it under the canopy with one other vehicle to be checked in before my rental so I know there was some wait time involved in checking it in. Probably be more inclined to use someone else in your area next time.

Your online website is cumbersome to navigate through. It needs to be easier to navigate- like time to pick up or return early pick up the computer had a hard time locating a reservation because I came in early It wanted to charge more.

I rented a dolly and was not given a dolly to use, additionally, the first time I tried to rent a truck I was told UHaul overbooked trucks and I was only able to rent a truck for one of the three days I needed one, days after the initial booking.

Just not sure about Uhaul internal systems. I tried to do it all through the app, but that just turned out to be a huge waste of time. I made a reservation, but the next day, the app completely failed me. I ended up both calling the customer service line and going in to the office to go through ALL my rental information AGAIN with the cashier. Also, I paid $159 instead of the advertised 19.95. YOU REALLY NEED TO BE MORE TRANSPARENT ABOUT YOUR RENTAL PRICES. BAIT AND SWITCH IS A ANGERING STRATEGY.

Be more flexible when customers travel in town but get charged one way rates because of a “truck designation”. One a previous rental we picked the truck up at Lynchburg but had to return it to Timberlake which are only a few miles apart but we got hammered on the price. Not a good policy.

We reserved a 15 ft a month in advanced and was told day of move they only had a 10 ft. The truck leaked water inside and they told me that is why I purchased the insurance. This company clearly does not care about customer service. Save yourself the anxiety. Not worth doung business with this organization

The U-Haul experience was good until the very end. I needed a receipt for my records as anyone would for personal reasons, but my receipt had someone's else's name on it. I understand that anyone can make a mistake however the young lady that was working there insinuated that I lied to her gave her a wrong name even after I told her my correct name while renting the u-haul and was call by my correct name while discussing the details of renting the u-haul as well as showing her my drivers license as she also made a copy of my drivers license with my correct name. I understand mistakes are easy made, but to be called a liar and getting into a screaming match word for word with the U-Haul attendant is not what I signed up for…I also understand that it is not possible for myself to receive a receipt with my correct name on it … Patrice Johnson

No matter where I am in the lynchburg area I have always used this location. Everything has always been great except this time I rented a van which apparently was brand new but the A/C did not work, it hesitated, lock did not work properly and the hot air that would not stop blowing out was actually burning my feet. When I brought it back there was only 1 person working the counter and 1 outside . After waiting in line because the 1 person inside left to go do something I was told to go out and check in with the person outside. When I tried to tell him about the van his response was what do you expect from a new vehicle and don't worry you won't be charged!?! Those of us standing in line talked about not being able to do anything online and a recording on the phone with a 45-50 minute wait!?! Very discouraged right now!

Ben Dooley, the General Managers customer service is awful. I will never use anything UHAUL again. I was out with Covid and in the hospital for a month and got behind on my storage unit payment. He refused to speak with me directly so I could explain my situation. He is not willing to work with you at all and doesn't care. What kind of GM refuses to speak with a customer. I even went to the store and ask to speak with him and was refused. Terrible customer service. He needs to learn how to treat his customers and less of his man bun.

The pricing was a little too much! And the increase in price was unacceptable. They should have been grandfathered in and the new customers should have been given the new pricing. I would have been there at least another year if the price had stayed the same.

Actual storage unit was fine. Everything else about experience was not. Snow was plowed right in front of the unit so moving out was a slipping hazard. Staff barely explained check in process and acted as if helping us/answering questions was a chore. When we went to move out and stop renting, nothing about reimbursement for partial month was explained-nothing about move out process explained for that matter-and staff member seemed intoxicated. Blood shot eyes and slowed speech. Will never use Lynchburg Uhaul again.

I needed a large unit for storing things for 3 months. There were none to be had. I have rented a 10x10, and an 8x10. I seriously STILL need more space to store 2 beds, end tables, large kitchen table and 12 chairs and kitchen things. Is there any compensation for having to rent another 2 more small units instead of a large 10x30 that I really need??? I don't want my belongings stored at 3 to 4 different Companies. Can you help?

I was in one of the overflow storage with old truck cabs. For the most part ok, but, my old truck door with gaps let too much moisture and bugs into the storage unit. Needs repaired.

I think that you should pro rate your prices when you have an early move out and not charge a full month of payment!

Well kept facility and knowledgeable staff. Probably the cleanest facility that I have used in 69 years of life. Pricing is a bit high, but I guess you get what you pay for in a positive way.

Everyone ( with the exception of one lady who was more interested in her cell phone and didn't try to help , even lied about availability because she didn't look ) was great. The big guy and two other young men were extremely pleasant and helpful.

The storage facility was clean and very accessible. The customer parking for check-in was not the easiest to find amongst everything else going on at the lot. It would have been nice to check in online since we arrived late one night and had to wait for the next day to move in. Very minor things. Everything else was good.

I had the worst experience with UHAUL from day 1. It all started when I reserved a unit online with UHAUL on Park Ave. I came with a truck full of things to put in unit to be told the elevator was out of service and my unit was on the 3rd floor. How on earth would I be able to move furniture and heavy tubs/boxes up all those steps? So, I cancelled my storage unit and still had a truck full that I couldn't put in storage and had done all that lifting and moving for nothing.... ON TOP OF ALL THAT, The woman who was at the front desk at Park Ave was the most DISRESPECTFUL, SARCASTIC, UNPROFESSIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE! I HAD NO LUCK FOR WEEKS FINDING A STORAGE UNIT I COULD AFFORD THAT WAS AVAILABLE. TIMBERLAKE HAD NO UNITS available in 5x10. Finally one comes available but has to be cleaned. Then it had to be fixed. Then it wasn't my size I paid for. Home office had been contacted numerous times but they are just as unprofessional as everybody else. I never could get Timberlake to answer phone calls. Dude who did my paperwork didn't know what he was doing. Had to redo once I finally was put in right size unit. I pay in full back months ago, moved everything out unit and took lock off. I get emails saying I have a lien and overdue balance. What on earth????? You guys are the worst!

I don't understand why you can't prorate your rent when someone leaves. $98 for one week is not a good deal. You are a big company and probably don't care. Just saying.

I did not move in. There was not a storage unit...I was told there would be a smaller unit later this week. I am furious. I had a reservation for over a week, and then showed up early on 8-1 to find out which unit so I could move in, only to be told they did not have that size and would not have that size. This should not be allowed, and you all need to do something about it.

The actual checking in to rent the unit was extremely slow and frustrating. There was definitely not enough workers to effectively manage the amount of customers looking to rent. After receiving our unit number and going to that unit, we found it had already been rented out and was filled with someone else's stuff, so back we go to the office and go through the process all over again...extremely frustrating.

I am very impressed with the indoor storage facilities, there are very clean and have carts available. I was also in need of a climate-controlled unit and they had one available, considering at this time of year it is very hard to find available units in town

I booked the smallest unit with the main office only to find out I was not afforded the unit I had booked. I was told at the Timberlake VA this unit, even though I had booked it, I had to take a much higher priced unit.

Reserved two units on internet. One worked the othe just reserved. Don't know why. Had to go down to storage location and redo for unit two everything I just did on unit one. So everything was good except the online reservation hiccup/confusion.

I contracted (via the website) for a 10 X 10 unit. When I arrived with my stuff, "my" unit had a lock on it. The guy on duty did all he could to help me, but I ended up keeping the trailer for two more days while they figured out the situation. Finally, they gave me a 10 X 15 unit and I unloaded my stuff. On a subsequent visit, I learned that I was to be charged $40/mo. more than I contracted (because I had a bigger unit). I now have to go move my stuff AGAIN into a 10 X 10 unit, or pay $40 more than I budgeted. NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE.

It is very frustrating that no ones ever answers the phone at the Lynchburg Timberlake location. I called and tried to reach someone for over a week, was on hold for 35-45 minutes and either gave up or was then directed to the main call center. My questions and concerns were about this location and very frustrated that I couldn't get ahold of anyone there.

Regarding the rating. I would have listed it as above average except for one thing. Before management was changed in late 2020 the office people did not know how to handle check payments. The previous manager was so inept that she hid checks in a desk drawer. As a result I was sent failure to pay notices and charged late fees. That condition persisted for a period of several months until the management change. I consider that issue an executive failure for not training their personnel.

I've been with the Timberlake facility for a while and anytime I've made an inquiry, needed their help or their advice, these representatives have always gone beyond just the "customer service" usual response's. Their "above and beyond" mindset gives me the knowledge of what they are truly all about. I appreciate and am grateful for their commitment.
