The staff at this location always goes above and beyond. I had non stop issues with my uhaul truck rental and reservation and every time I went in they did their best to correct issues that they didn't even cause, with less access to the information than the call Center. I am still having an issue with my rental return and the change of address drop of the day I picked up the U-Haul. Instead of treating me a number in the system and telling me that I signed the contract and I have no choice, they went and found me a drop off spot closer to my original reservation. I rented a trailer for 24hrs, I picked the trailer up at 5:50pm and returned it the following day at 5:26pm, once I left yhey billed my Mastercard a second time for another rental and put on the receipt I received in my email that I had the trailer for more than 24hrs but the time stamps on the receipt showed I had it for less than 24hrs, it had taken me 3 days to get through to someone at uhaul to have this resolved and then was told that my refund would take 7 business days. The fact that they charged my card a second time after I left the building is completely unacceptable. I will be contacting the better business bureau to complain.Patrick K.

The pick up process was wonderful, the gentleman that was working that day was very helpful and friendly and efficient. And helped me through the truck share process. The truck was well maintained and clean. The process to pick up was easy and straightforward. However, the drop off was extremely disappointing. The lady that was working when I dropped off the truck has zero customer service skills, appeared to hate her job and spoke in an extremely rude tone to me when I told her that I was dropping off a pick up truck and where I had parked it- not knowing that I had to park it up front to be inspected- as I had already submitted photos on the website. I will not return to this location because of her- my advice to her- remember that your actions while at work or anywhere can drastically affect someone's day. I did not appreciate my morning starting that way. It is quite unfortunate that one person can ruin a whole experience.Cristine L.

Lots of homeless or street type people hanging around loading bays looking to steal or get into the free pile. Need to hire a fulltime attendant in loading bays to prevent street people and unauthorized people from accessing units. Get rid of free pile it attracts street people. Worst experience ever!! June 6, 2022 I made a reservation for a 20' truck through an online deal with U-Haul. The deal was for 3 days and 700+ KMS with a 50 % reduction if I returned the truck to the agreed upon location of Chilliwack. This also gave me a large exterior, ground level locker in West Kelowna to unload my truck at. The morning of pick up June 8th I received a call from U-Haul changing the parameters of the reservation. They told me the truck I had reserved was on a one way to Victoria and the only 20' truck they could give me had to be returned to Vancouver which is an additional 3 and a half hours drive plus extra mileage. When I went to pick up the truck I explained to them that I was not going to be able to return it to Vancouver. They were not at all receptive or accommodating. The only truck they had available was a 15' and this did not meet my requirements. They also tried to change the parameters of the agreement to a local rental with reduced mileage. I found this unacceptable because it was now a 2-day rental with limited mileage. They informed me that I would have to go back online and reserve a 15' since they were not willing to accommodate me which is what I did. Because of the smaller capacity, I am forced to rent another truck to fit the remainder of items that would've fit in a 20' truck that I originally booked. When I returned the truck to Chilliwack on June 10th, the woman behind the counter tried to tell me that the mileage was over and was going to charge me extra. Luckily I had taken a photo of the odometer reading at the start and the end to prove I was under. She also try to add a fuel surcharge saying there was less fuel in the truck than when I picked it up when in fact the truck was over fueled and I have pictures to prove it. The locker that was provided in West Kelowna did not meet what was agreed to, it was an internal locker half the size. So in the end every agreement and other reservation was thrown out the window. None of the requests or parameters of the reservation were met which has cost me money and time. This is absolutely the worst service and experience ever!! For a change everything went well. If you could just do it twice in a row it would be totally awesome. I've rented 4 times at this location and this is the first time everything went 100 % smoothly and as expected. Got there, clerk was awesome, you actually had a trailer that had been long since booked available, and it actually was defect free and incredibly, had non-bald tires. It's sad that everything working out right there is a rare event - but it gives me hope.Gary Z.
Communicate better. Rapid fire instructions from behind a plexiglass barrier to an 80 year old hearing impaired customer resulted in a fuel overcharge of $60 on a 129 km trip to the customer with no recourse. Secondly, the front passenger seat had not been cleaned and was very dirty.Murray T.

Very nice location easy drop off and unloading into on site storage unit. Only issue is that we were told our account was delinquent even when we set up for automatic credit card payment. Two other family members received letters of our delinquency (embarrassing) when I made contact, the Uhaul rep indicated that we are set up for automatic payment and indicated the computer system was acting up and was unreliable. In the end it was UHaul's error. Sad that delinquent letters are sent to alternate contacts when it's their error and prior to speaking with me the customer.David J.

The staff was very friendly did a great job. My rental went smoothly although an extra hour would be useful. It was super busy as it was month's end so my only suggestion would be adding another computer terminal or two and having some extra personnel. The software seems a little slow so this would make a huge difference. Maybe a couple of benches or something so customers can sit. Overall the West Kelowna location was very accommodatingShannon K.

My boyfriend and I moved from Kelowna to Sechelt at the end of April. I had made a reservation for the 20ft uhaul about 1 month or more prior to the move based on knowing we would need that size. Leading up to moving day Uhaul was telling me that the size of truck would not be confirmed until the day before and they screwed us over big time! We ended up only being offered a 15ft truck and couldn't fit all of our furniture in and had to leave some of our items behind just because of Uhaul not being able to fulfill our request. Not only that, they couldn't provide us with a dolly which we had booked nor did they give us packing blankets. The individual staff at the locations did try to fix the problems we had but the company in general I would not recommend.Tracy C.

I booked a cargo trailer 2 days before the pickup date but got an email the day before pickup saying that the trailer wouldn't be available. I had to scramble to find another trailer, and all that was available was a utility trailer at a different location. This might have worked out fine, but the morning we needed to load up the utility trailer it was pouring rain and it was almost impossible to load the trailer and get the tarp on before everything got wet. Luckily, we had no damage in spite of several boxes getting wet on the bottom but the whole rental was an ordeal beginning with me having to scramble to find an alternate trailer (and being on hold for 20 minutes each time I had to call U-Haul about the situation), to the efforts to load the utility trailer which wasn't the appropriate choice for our move. This was definitely not our best experience with U-Haul.Karen D.

I booked the uhaul 10' van two months in advance to be picked up at 9am. One day before my reserved date, I was sent a text message stating I could pick it up at 4pm instead. That didn't fit my timeline especially after making the booking well in advance. I went I to this location and they helped me out by allowing me to have the original time I reserved it for. I had so many issues. Just over 24 hours before my truck pick up, which I booked 6 weeks ahead, I got a call saying they don't have one and I'd have to drive 3 hours to pick one up. I was offered no charge in the km difference, which is obvious. But I had to still pay for my gas to get there, and the gas of the truck driving it back to where I needed it. My partner andi had to find 3 extra hours the day we are trying to move to get the truck. Also I was offered an extra day, which I didn't need either. I booked it for as many days as I needed. As if someone would want to drag out their moving days. I checked in online the morning of picking it up, and paid. Drove to the truck and it's a 24 hr service place and there isn't someone there to help me. It's a truck siting in a dirt patch. I'm checking my emails, my reservation, and no where does it tell me anything. The number attached to this place is a towing company that has nothing to do with U-Haul expect let the truck park on its land. So no help there. I call and put on hold. Then finally someone answers, and they tell me they can't give me the code to open the truck because I havent paid. I did pay. He says you don't pay the tax when you check in. So now I am reading all my credit card information to someone over the phone, which I don't like doing, that's why I did it with a computer before. but what choice do I have, U-Haul already screwed me and I'm pressed with no other options so I don't really have a choice. So I I get that paid, get the code, and open the truck and there is no dolly. The guy on the phone tells me I paid for the dolly but he can't so anything or prove there is no dolly. So when I bring the truck in, they will see there is no dolly and refund me. I'm pissed and losing time, so whatever. It's $10, not going to die in this hill. The moving goes well. As long as I don't have to intact with U-Haul. When I returned the U-Haul, I tell him I should get a $10 refund because I wasn't given a dolly even though I paid for it. This guy now says that there isn't a dolly and they don't know there wasn't a dolly. No U-Haul person saw that there was no dolly. So they kept my $10, I never had a dolly. I called to complain during this, they gave me a discount. But it didn't cover the 3 hours of driving for my partner and I, the extra cost of the gas, or the dolly that was never there. If I can ever find another option, I would never use uhaul again. Each person was friendly enough, but the whole system was such a pain. I called every moving place I could, and no where was there another truck for me to get within 24hrs notice. It was the end of the month, so of course not. I was stuck with them. I will never recommend or use uhaul again. I originally booked a 15' truck. Looked at my reservation only to find a CARGO VAN. When I called I was told no 15' trucks where available however a 10' was available in Lake Country which was a 45 minute drive. Ok fine I'll pay the extra miles. Moving day comes. I have a friend drive me 45 minutes away to get the truck from a very sketchy gas station. Nothing uhaul related outside. No trucks, no trailers, nothing. I talk to the (I think Italian) shop owner who just got annoyed that uhaul booked me a truck and he said "LOOK AROUND, DO YOU SEE A TRUCK". Angrily I left and contacted uhaul. After a 1,5 hr wait I got in touch with the Victoria office who said sorry and booked me another truck for the next day (literally last day of the month) in west kelowna. Another 35m drive away, ok fine. Morning comes and I call uhaul first to make sure my truck will be there. Staff told me it's due at 9am and they will call me once I'm able to pick up. 10am comes around and I call again, they said that I'm late and risk losing my reservation. I explained what happened and got my truck. Will never use this service again.Christopher S.

My experience was a short three weeks needing storage in-between moves. When I dropped off the trailer I had to ask about the "free" one month storage as they were going to charge me from my reservation made separately online from my trailer reservation(trailer wasn't available from same location as storage). My personal lock purchased from uhaul years ago was being used on the unit (they still sell them). I wasn't told when I checked in for the unit that I needed to purchase a new uhaul lock, one that is harder to break into. A couple of days before leaving the unit I was forced to purchase the new lock, one that I will probably never use again. I only had one item in the unit that I couldn't fit in the trailer. Why I was able to go for almost two and a half weeks with a lock they don't recommend is beyond me. I guess anyway to make money when your unit is free for a month. I get the liability issues but I had insurance and I was leaving one item for two days. We were also not contacted regarding the whole storage unit going through a security upgrade so the access times were changed. I stood outside at 7pm at night, when I was told that I had access until 10pm and my card wouldn't work and no one could figure out why. I called the call centre and emailed the manager of the storage unit. Once I heard back from Ms. Love, by email there wasn't even an apology for not contacting us about the change in a access hours. There were no notes on the doors indicating this either, which would have been very helpful and saved me time in trying to figure out why. We've rented many trailers from this location and never had an issue, this just put us in a position of do we use them again due to constant lack of communication from staff. There was a significant leak in the roof above my storage unit causing my possessions to get soaked. Still waiting for someone from claims department to call me back with a follow-up action plan for my damaged items. Haven't even been offered a complimentary month/months of storage. Staff on site was very helpful in assessing the damage and helping relocate my undamaged belongings to another dry storage unit. I'm still optimistic that Uhaul will handle this issue professionally. Hello, Yes i moved in yesterday though there was some problem with the bank machine i was able to pay cash and get my new locker right away and hand in the old one. i put the lock and key on the counter as the attendant was really busy and everything went smoothly the units are clean and i even got a new couch from the recycling centre they have available for all of us to use. though it was kinda dirty its really great that they offer this because most people dont have a recycling place even though some people abuse it most of us dont abuse it so im thankful they allow it despite the few who try to ruin for all of us. very very deeply grateful and i know great karma will come for you guys to offer such a great and safe place to store our things.Channelle S. | Premières impressions

Staff are great but I had to wait about 70 min to unload my truck that took me about 20 min. The bays were full. One car was in there for about 3 hours while they looked for something in their locker. Just moving to Okanagan from the West coast and had a "culture shock" from my neighbors and the local branch (of a bank I have dealed with since 2006). But the staffs of the West Kelowna Uhaul have proved there are people in this area are kind and helpful. They made me feel people like me, an Asian woman with disabilities, is welcome here. Good experience overall. Truck rental process was fairly straightforward and I was even encouraged to take a pic of the dashboard to ensure there was no dispute over mileage or gas. The truck itself was clean and ran well, and was maintained. The drop off process after hours was simple and after the dust settled the price was very affordable as well. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable as well. When there were a few bumps in the road, the manager of my location made sure I left a very happy customer by quickly solving any minor issues that arose. For storage unit rentals: the building is always warm, clean and well lit, everywhere is camera'd and even my gf felt comfortable there alone at night. Again the staff are all very warm and helpful. Considering I had put everything of value that I owned in my storage units to keep them safe so I wouldn't have to worry about them going missing and the day after I paid 600 to get caught up cause I didn't want to lose everything I owned that either had sentimental or $$ value ( heavily on the $$ side) and the same night someone stole everything of value, leaving my packed full unit only 1/8 full when it was packed floor to ceiling from the back to the front. I am very very very unhappy with the staff the security and the whole company and would only recommend people to NOT USE your facilities unless they want to lose everything they own like I did. I easily had well over 100 thousand spent on just my tool collection in fact it was well over that and that's just my tools I had many other expensive belongings there as well. The staff member who I spoke to when I found my unit empty the next afternoon after I was there as it closed the night before and had everything still in it. He said he would find out who it was and let me know before I was gone and before his shift ended but when the cops showe$ up he said his shift was up and his co worker would continue looking thruthe videos and he left promptly at 745. I left after the cops gave me my file number. Then when I came back the next day to see what they found his co worker said he wasn't sure what I was talking about and the guy I was dealing with hadn't said anything to him about it. Then a month or so later the weekend manager of sorts sent me an email saying my account was overdue and I owed for the 2 large units I rented originally which I had emptied the first one when I got caught up and then I switched out of the large one after it was robbed to a smaller one which she was apparently not informed of me cleaning out either or my unit being robbed or the unit I switched into after cause I only needed one of your smalllest ones. And when she asked who I spoke to after I found my unit was broken into I gave a description and she then said he was a bad boy for that and not to worry cause she was going to smack him on his pee pee when she seen him next. This was when I had had enough and said wow that is just awesome and not surprising this would be a reaction to my situation considering what a joke the who experience was and I was glad she found my loss of everything I had been collecting since childhood and everything of value I had put there so it would be safe and what happened. It got stolen from there. I still haven't filed a claim cause I have been too upset to bother trying to and plus the 10000 u guys cover with insurance couldn't come close to covering the loss I incurred while I had my things there so it too seems like a joke or a slap in the face at least. Some staff were helpful, others were not. Tires on cube van could not get up my driveway. I had to get a neighbor to help me both times even after shoveling and putting ice melt on my driveway. My neighbor had to tow me out twice. When we arrived in the morning there was only one employee who was working so hard by himself. The time teying to get up my driveway which not steep took too long and lost time. I did get a refund and the staff was understandable. I had to move my daughter out of her place due to an emergency, and it was very stressful. The staff at the West Kelowna location were exceptionally helpful. I cannot thank them enough. The day I moved the stuff to the storage lock-up, it became clear I would not get finished before close, as I was on my own. I did not get the name of the male employee who helpfully provided me with a larger locker for overnight so I could just throw the rest of the furniture in until the next day. Would have been nice to see things cleaned up inside better, had a unit near mine have a water leak causing all sorts of rubbish and filth blocking my unit for a period of time. An employee allowed somebody access to my storage locker, the employee cut off my lock amd allowed the person, not listed on the account as my name is the only one on the account, allowed them to remove the items from the locker. The fact that an employee cut a lock off a locker for a person who is not named on the account, did not have a key or an access card, is absolutely mind blowing. I have opened a police file regarding this matter, aswell as forwarded all relative info to my lawyer. I will never recommend this business to anyone.greg s. | Expérience générale

The U-Haul front counter reps were excellent to deal with and very hassle free. The facility in West Bank Kelowna, has the majority of the storage rooms above ground level and the only way to access them is through stairs. The manager of this facility... Ashley Love is rude, unprofessional and very flippant. Instead of being helpful I received no call backs at all. I couldn't contact anyone by phone there actually. I called UHaul head office and made a formal complaint after my concerns were dealt with in a 3 minute conversation with someone from head office but Ashley drew things out for almost a month with zero support and help for the situation I am in presently.
