They were extremely close to our house and the event we needed the van for. We settled for a truck instead. When we got there- no one was there. We went through the check-in process on the phone and located the truck in the back. After we paid, we thought we would be given a code to access the key to the truck. However, the app said proceed to the checkout counter. The door to the building was closed. The building looked like an abandon house/office. There was garbage everywhere. No one answered when we knocked. When we called customer service, they said that they should have been there and transferred us to the WRONG (San Antonio) scheduling department. Then we got transferred to the Houston one. The agent was nice- but really didn't know what she was doing. She finally figured it out and scheduled us at a close by location. When we got there, they brought out a truck that had roaches crawling everywhere and dead ones too. The truck also had a bad smell. The quickly replaced it and said that we still had to bring the truck back at 5:30 â€" even though we didn't finish with the checkout process until 6ish. There was also an issue with changing the contract to the correct pricing. However, I think my husband was able to fix that once the truck was returned. The agents were cordial enough, but no one apologized for any of the mishap and stress that we had to go through. The first agent we spoke to- that made the reservation, was extremely friendly and helpful. I thought that she was going to be indicative of the experience that we would have with U-Haul. But she wasn't. She was the only good part of this experience. It has been 10 years or more since I used U-Haul. I may never use it again â˜¹.Mansuereh E.

I won't be using this location again. I made a reservation online nearly a week in advance to reserve a van and when I arrived it wasn't available. The service rep tried to charge me the higher mileage rate as well which was lent fair. As a result, I had to use a 15' truck which was way more than I needed. To make matters worse, the cargo door on the truck was faulty and opened during my commute and I lost some of my cargo. I've had issues with this location before and the customer service is awful. Second time I am being over charged for gas after I have returned it with the same amount if not more than I received it with. I have pics/video to back up my claim. If you check the link I filled out on my most recent rental and see where I took a picture of the gas and mileage to adjust the current info that was originally on the link as instructed. I took video of gas and location that is time stamped and will show when I return to pick up my next rental. This is just an inconvenience being over charged a second time.Jared K.

I was improperly overcharged a fuel charge stating that I didn't turn the truck back in with the gas hand where it was. That is untrue, and while I did not take a picture of the gas hand/mileage - which I should have, nor was I told that I should take a picture for my own records. The employees are not telling the truth and I dispute this claim as when I refueled the truck before turning in the truck I used the diagram that was right above fuel tank so I know that we put in more than a 1/4 of a tank of gas.Shakeisicia B.

I would rate this experience as Excellent, but towards the end of my time there, it was very difficult to find dollies. I was told they get stolen but that is an inconvenience to your tenants and rather frustrating. Aside from that, this U Haul is the best, very clean, no roach droppings or spiders or dead bugs getting on your stuff. I had this storage for a little over 3 years and I was amazed how clean it is and that was very important to me. I would definitely use them again and all refer them to anyone that needs storage. I reserved a 26 ft truck 2 weeks ahead of time to pick up 1 mile from my home. Got repeated confirmations those 2 weeks. Showed up on time to the location I had reservations for pick up at 9:30 am. THE PLACE WAS CLOSED AND ZERO TRUCKS OUTSIDE!! When I called uhaul to find out what was going on they were total airheads! They told me they could transfer my reservation to a location 9 miles from where I was at for my original reservationâ€¦ it wasn't 9 miles away, IT WAS 26 MILES AWAY! When I picked up the truck there was a 20 mile until E message which did not let me take a picture of the current mileage and on the paper it had â€œ137505â€ so when I went to put gas I did not check the mileage as I was in a rush since I had to be moved out by that next day. I used the truck for 5 stops which I wrote down and kept track of the mileage. I only used 20 miles. When I go return the vehicle I put gas again to the 1/4 line I noticed the mileage said â€œ137795â€ i picked up the truck around 6:30 pm and returned it around 9:30 pm (camera footage as proof) I was not able to use the self drop off option since it kept saying I used over 250 miles. Next morning they charged for mileage I did not use and the manager was upset and rude to me because a mistake on THEIR END. Whoever turned in the truck did not report the proper hours after the tank was left on E (empty) I basically paid for the user before me. I need corporate to call me ASAP as I do not want this to happen to anyone in the future. I will be waiting a call thank you.Joel B.

Before sending out a U-Haul vehicle inspections should be highly recommended ! I got stranded twice due to the U-Haul not switching gears & had to wait on roadside assistance to arrive. I received the U-Haul at 3:33pm & got stranded at 4:08pm. I wasn't able to actually drive the U-Haul with no problems until 8:12pm. Arrived at facility, 2 employees (a lady and a man) laugh when I tried to return the unit. My first language is spanish. Tried to do my best speaking in english I said "I'm delivering a unit"..... Worst worstest experience, coming from California, first time rent uhaul in Houston, what happened really scared me, around 11AM, Sep 5/2022, I came to store to return the trailer, waited in link the front desk lady ask to unload the trailer, someone would came help, after trying 20mins I decided to unload trailer as my best ability. After I unloaded the trailer, which is bit far from the curb, the hispanic male employee walk back yielding at me while on his phone, I told him I did my best, trailer is 12 foot long, so I ask him to try, I loaded the trailer back to the car, then after he took the wheel, he begun to abuse my car by hard push gas then hard stop with the 12foot trailer in the back driving throught the parking lot, contiune talking on the phone, taking his time. After driving the trailer back in spot, he found out the trailer chain got stuck in my hitch which can't get out of, he ask who help me load the trailer yesterday, I tell him was a African American male, (who did help me loading the trailer yesterday, also nicer, although leaves the chain skimmy the ground.) he and his friend on the phone said ********* Seem like they both dont get alone with the African American employee, but I still don't understand why he abuse my car, later I use the car to get food felt something is clearly wrong with the car after this rental!!!JIANRUI Z.

Needed 24hr feature added to my account. General manager had to approve to do. Found out after 30 minutes of being on hold with uhaul. Was at unit before 10p. Took a while to place heavy metal tools on 4 Dollys only to find out the elevators access denied. Got storage online because the staff at facility was going to be gone before we could make it there. Staff forgot to tell us we couldn't add the 24 access feature to account online. Had to reload the heavy metal back on top the trailer and return the next morning to have feature added and get items into storage. Then I found out they didn't even have a general manager. I rented a tow dolly because I was moving to another state and have multiple vehicles. Not even half way thru my trip the straps on the dolly broke and the other side was rigged together. As well as I had to drive an hour away from my home to pick up my truck. And the truck was inspected. But that couldn't have be done. The staff I interacted with has always been very friendly and approachable. There was only one time that the doors to the building unit my storage unit was in did not close properly, but I saw no criminal activity and they were fixed the next day I showed up.Jocelyn G.
