JIMMY WI was charged way too much. . I know I should have checked the mileage when I picked van up but did not. . It register I went 101 miles and know way. I will be baking my credit card company to get a refund. Says 19,95 for van. . Why was I charged 89 for the day. I literally went maybe 50 miles round trip and was charged for 101 miles. Drove from lot to my home 5 miles and then from there another 20x2 round trip. . Only went to Frankfort 1 trip. Watch your receipt and make sure it's checked because they put extra miles on your contract because I'm sure most do not pay attention. Help me get a refund for what I was falsely charged.

DALE PEveryone was friendly and helpful from the initial greeting by the Manager Brooks, to the young lady (I believe her name was Adrianna), who stepped us through process. Very pleased with the whole encounter. Would definitely use and recommend this location in the future.

There were a handful of times, I was under the impression that my UBox was going to be leaving earlier than I requested. The website to order my UBox was very very slow, and after I triple checked that I requested access to my UBox until Wednesday, I got a text/email on Tuesday saying that it would be leaving Wednesday. Everytime I talked to a worker at one of the stores everything was great and they were able to help me, but the automated systems seemed to be confusing.
Emily FThe truck had the check engine light on, it would overheat if stopped too long and the heat some was not on, and would die if it idled too long. The dolly I ordered was missing. The truck needs to be fixed or not rented and the employees need to make sure all ordered equipment is in the truck

GLENN TIf I could rate it a zero, I would. The box did get delivered on the day we requested and picked up like it should but from there it was all downhill. I arranged all of this in February 2025 because I knew there may be a lot of activity in May for moving. I was told this past Sunday that there was no room on the truck for my daughter's U-box after we had already paid. It looks like my credit card was charged full amount but I also have other charges put through for other amounts from U-Haul. I have received no help or solutions (other than I should hire a moving company . . .more money on my part). Everyone I have talked to from U-haul has given my a number to call or they transferred me because they "couldn't help" me. I don't know if my goods arrived safely or not. We haven't seen it yet.

Dale PMy biggest piece of feedback I can give is that I understand why the trucks are built the way they are. They're built economically, and I get that. However, not having power windows is SUCH an inconvenience. Those trucks are so big and hard to maneuver anyway, but not being able to control the windows makes it even more so. The experience would have been at least 3-4x better if there were power windows on the truck.

Trailer had tire at 10 PSI. I had to fill it myself while the employee watched. He said to me, verbatim, "man, I don't know why they don't have a system to check these things" as I filled the tire! Finally left there at 1030 to head to another location to pick up the promised dolly. Trailer dirty as anything. He did help me hook up.

JOHN WThe app would not work to let us pick up the 26 ft truck ourselves. When we tried to find someone inside this location, it took over 30 minutes. There were no clerks inside, no bell, no sign to state where they were. When the two ladies showed up, they did help us check in. Then they gave us the code for the lock to get our keys for the truck. Walked across the huge building to the key panel. We tried the code several times and it didnt work. We walk all the way back across the building to get help. The code they gave us was the wrong code. Then finally got the key.

AUSTIN Prented a trailer, front desk staff is extremely unprofessional, picked up trailer - it had flat spots on all four tires where someone had pulled it with the emergency break up - tried to return it and swap it out with a different one as they had 4 more on the lot - was told to just call roadside service - ended up talking with customer service and they were able to swap me out at the new circle road location - Staff at 1200 new circle road were amazing! Would not recommend renting from Merchant Street.
JEFFREY BI booked a pickup for 7:30 AM. I arrived at 7:15 and the store was not open. The posted 7:00 time to be open was on the door. I called U Haul and they told me somebody would be there in a minute. The store manager showed up at 7:45. And there was no apology for the late arrival. My schedule was delayed due to the late pickup and departure.

STEVE CWorst experience ever! At pick up, the equipment we rented was not there. The employee lied and told us that the truck we rented could not tow a car. Later found out that the tow equipment wasn't there. Then I had to drive to another location to get it! On top of that we were overcharged for the tow. We talked to many ppl trying to resolve the issue and each person was ruder than the last. I will never use U-Haul again. The total amount was so much more than my original quote as well. Horrible experience.

DAVID HI had selected pick up at counter during store hours (7am) by 735am since the store was still not open, reached out to customer service for them to tell me it was self pick-up (I did not select this). They were able to walk me through getting the truck but the app would not work to upload photos. Nothing in the email for the pick up indicated self pick up; just some guidance on that before arriving on site would have made this process a little easier.
KRISTINE HThis location and person helping me were great. But, the first place I went to pick up my truck (Jody's Closet) wasn't open when I went there. I had even called the day before to ensure they were open since it was New Year's Day.

EARL JThis experience was the best and most pleasant I've had moving. There was one issue I experienced, the u-boxes were suppose to come during a certain window and it was nearing the end of the window I had no communication as to what was happening. I called and tracked down someone who looked into to it and they were stuck in traffic, which is fine, just communicate that to me they will be an hour late. Lack of communication there and could be improved upon.

DANIEL RRented a truck to pick up after hours instructions say that the keys are in a lock box at the back of the truck , they were not , they were in a unlabeled lock box on the side of the building that i only found because i searched for an hour, no lights had to have a flashlight, called the 24/7 phone number no answer. Also asked for a moving dolly was not there.
Rob JProbably pay your employees more so they don't act like they are literally being threatened at gunpoint to work there and do their jobs. Also make sure your app actually works when I get there to check in!

DONNA BFriendly staff at this location. They are very helpful and accommodating to your needs. Loading and unloading process is super easy! The storage units are clean, well lit and climate controlled. Trucks are maintained and easy to handle. I will definitely recommend to my family and friends. A+ service.

STEVEN V | Expérience généraleThe security keeps going off even though I unlocked and locked my locker correctly each time after following the instructions on the keypad (even though none of this process was explained or demonstrated to me). After talking with staff they said they were aware of the problem/issue and said that the security guy may have not programmed the lockers correctly. There was not talk of if this was going to be fixed/resolved or even if this had been escalated to be fixed, they did not seem to care. I told them that other people had come to me wondering if I had unlocked my locked correctly because the alarm would go off after disarming my locker and opening it. I demonstrated to other clients (not management) that I had. Uhaul associates told me to tell the customers to mind their own business instead of escalating this issue to programmers or maintenance workers. I also rented a Uhaul truck and the truck was dirty with debris inside the truck in which I had to clean out myself because I didn't want to deal with the incompetent staff from previous encounters.

They did not set up my information correctly from the start. The staff is NOT friendly, they are aggressive and rude. This is the second time I use this location. The first time in 2021, a completely different experience. The first time I recommended this place to my family, my mother and a friend rented, and both of them are out. Three people in less than a month. The place is going down the hill due to this manager and his staff. The only person that is helpful and friendly is the man that is on the grounds at night. He is helpful, approachable, and kind.

Due to this poor service, we decided to move our business to another company. To top it all, even canceling was difficult. We informed the staff in person on June 17th and July 13th. We vacated the unit July 13th, and yet uhaul tried to charge my bank account July 15th. On July 20th I receive a letter and an email requesting payment and charging me fees for late payment. We went again to uhaul in person, canceling one more time. I really hope this one is final. I have used uhaul since 2002, multiple times, both in Ohio and Kentucky. This one will probably be the last one. It has been a terrible, frustrating, and dissapointing experience.

Anthony G | Premières impressionsI had a few issues here. The staff rented a unit to me. The next morning, I came to unload my belongings, and it had been locked. The staff said they rented it to someone else. They gave me another unit, which had settled the matter and I was satisfied, even though they'd expressly told me it was my fault for not locking the unit. They said it was store policy, but it'd never once been communicated to me, neither orally or in contract. The next three times I came to access my unit, there was a padlock barring my entrance. I'd forgotten to pay. It was my fault. I paid promptly. It was removed. I turned on auto-pay and never missed another payment. The lock was put back on. I complained multiple times over the phone but the next week I came back out and it was still on. Then it happened again. The staff, especially the manager, never seemed to care. No one ever apologized or offered a single dollar to compensate for the fact that I drove 3 hours from where I was staying on 2 separate occasions and was unable to access my unit due to being after hours and locked unjustifiably. I cannot accurately put into words how bitter and angry the larger gentleman always acted. The staff argues and yells at each other and acts as if they are burdened by the customers that pay for their service. I never encountered a competent or friendly employee. The day I moved my belongings out, the larger gentleman wouldn't talk to me or make eye contact, he just walked over and unlocked it slowly. As much as I want a refund, by any indication of how this business is run, I'm not holding my breath. To clarify, I've never had a bad experience with uhaul before this. It is just this location and the people working in it. I moved my stuff to a competitor because I couldn't handle not having access to my unit at any given point.

I was told that it was to be paid for by my landlords. I paid as much as I could until I was broke. I was locked out of my unit after spending probably $4,000.00. never was I called or able to speak with anyone. But you all made sure I was notified about the unit being auctioned off for $45.00. you all really don't know how much that stuff meant to me. And for 45 bucks. Awful.

None of this was the staffs fault, I want to make that clear, it was all because of the system/higher up management. I reserved a larger storage unit over a week before I showed up with my 15 foot truck to move into my storage unit. I was told when I arrived that they did not have that storage unit available, and that I was also the 3rd person THAT DAY that this had happened to. The very kind employees there offered me two 5x5 units because that was "all that they had". I did not have anywhere else to go with all of my stuff and was exhausted from hours of driving so I agreed. I should have realized that 764 cubic feet of my belongings was not going to fit into 400 cubic feet of split up units. My mattress would not even fit into one unit they were so small. We moved what we could into the two units and called it a night (it was like 9pm at this point), and the next day I purchased a very large unit at Extra Space Storage and moved the rest of my things into there. I do not understand why I was able to reserve and pay for a storage unit on U-Hauls website when in fact there was NOTHING available. I would call this fraudulent and a bait and switch. Do not recommend.

Lisa G | Premières impressionsI paid for my storage unit on Sept. 9 for a month. I went to the facility multiple times that day and had no issues. The very next day I go and my code doesn't work, says access denied. So, I went home. I went back on Thursday, Sept. 14, and, again, was denied entry. I went to the office and the GM looked it up in the computer - I had been "moved out" the same day I paid to move in, Sept. 9. The unit showed vacant in the computer and the person more recently registered to that unit wasn't me. The GM was there that morning and was a major help. He took me to my unit and fixed it in the computer. Not being able to access many of your valuable belongings is a terrible and scary feeling. I was told "sometimes the computer just moves you out." I have a signed rental agreement and receipt where I paid. My code worked the first day with no problems and has not worked since. The GM assured me the problem was fixed. As a result, I'm driving nine hours from South Carolina back to Lexington for the second time in three days just to get everything out of that unit. It's not worth the risk. I am, however, grateful the GM took care of the problem and for his help.

Uhaul storage was excellent space to keep her items. The only challenge is it was difficult to make payments online. The line was often down. We had to send someone to pay in person. Making payments easier for people out of town/country should be looked into. (We wanted to use a USA credit card) When we called were told the system is down. This was a challenge of us .

There also seemed to be some confusion with the alarm system, as alarms kept regularly going off. That said, staff were EXTREMELY courteous and helpful in alleviating confusion and upgrading my unit upon request. We received a full tour with many helpful notes. The customer service was truly wonderful. I also really appreciate the furniture-share "waste not" area, where folks can leave any furniture they'd like to give away. This is a hidden gem (and wonderful to divert waste to the landfill)! It is also nice that there is dumpster access for customers. My unit was clean and ready. Overall, a great experience!

For some reason, when I tried to complete my move-in online, the app automatically downgraded my storage reservation to a smaller size. We didn't realize until after we loaded a ton of our stuff into the unit that there was no way it was all going to fit. After a long day of moving, I was at my wits' end a little bit... But thankfully, Keionne was able to get me another small unit for the rest of our stuff with no trouble at all and we got everything in there after just a few more minutes. He was really kind and made things way easier. Next time I want to book with the staff at the location rather than online. The app and website seem like they'll be convenient but they just made things confusing. On the other hand, Keionne deserves a big shout out for sorting out our situation (and dealing with me crying because I was so stressed, haha), and then also Megan, who was helpful as well. Thanks y'all! I hope U-Haul invests more money in its great staff members and less in its tech--you deserve it!

I have had to clean mouse droppings off everything. When I mentioned to the staff they didn't seem real concerned about the issue and the trouble it caused me. We were there a year and for them most part, all was good, but the lack of concern over a mouse in the facility is concerning.

Travis B | Premières impressionsI Reserved a 10x15 and given a receipt with the unit number. Upon arrival with movers, staff told me the unit I reserved was given to another customer!! When I make a reservation I expect the provider to "hold" my exact reservation. Paying $180 and hr for movers to wait around for 45 min for a solution made the situation worse. No 10x15 units were available so I had to settle for a 10x10 which does not meet my storage needs. I DONT WANT two units scattered throughout the facility as a "customer friendly" solution to make up for the 150 sq ft I needed from a single unit. Your staff tried to be accommodating and I'm sure they have corporate directives to follow. I'm not happy. Question 2 was a struggle for me. The staff was "friendly" yet the helpful part didn't make me happy by not getting exactly what I reserved and expected when I arrived. I'd appreciate a call from UHAUL HQ. Brooks can share my contact info. He's a good guy and not his fault. There are storage companies literally on every street corner. I chose you! Help this 73 yr old veteran get an easily accessible 10x15 unit at your Leestown road location. Thx. Art Pandaru.

It is also really great that you can pull the truck inside so that you are closer, out of all the weather elements and have plenty of carts to be able to transport your items to your storage site. My issues are the parking lots are extremely dangerous and unlevel. I fell there about a month ago and I am still having a lot of pain from it plus I had to go to the ER. Not one person from inside came to check on me or ask me if I was OK. I am not the only one. My daughter almost fell twice and my son almost fell once due to how the parking is not level ground. Also I think for the size of the unit that it absolutely costed way too much. So due to the dangerous lot and the price I would not rent this facility to anyone.

rick k | Expérience généraleThe truck we rented was garbage, it had a red tag on the window where it had been broken down recently. Then we used the truck for one day then on the way back trying to return the truck, it started shaking very bad. I tried to contact Justin Thompson (The Store Manager [Leestown Rd, Lexington, Ky]), but my calls were ignored, and messages handled with no urgency. We called roadside assistance several times waiting on hold for hours to have the call drop on us multiple times. Couldn't reach anyone, and not feeling comfortable driving a truck thats shaking we waited for a response. Then after the manager refused to acknowledge that there was a safety issue with the truck, I drove it back at 25mph limping it back to Avoid further charges. Had the truck for approximately 24 hours, but was charged for 4 day rental. Worst Uhaul Experience Ever. Was ultimatlly asked to remove my items from storage to make room for another customer, like there money was greener than mine. This is after spending thousands on storage rentals and trucks through this same location and management.

On 4 occasions I had to work with a U-Haul customer service person or staff on site to reset my billing. I set me storage unit up on "Auto Pay and provided my Discover Card." I was charged late fees and locked out multiple times because no one could setup the auto-pay correctly. I understand one mistake but to have this happen 4 times in roughly a 7 mo time span is unacceptable.

Neptali C | Premières impressionsI would highly recommend to anyone needing self storage. It was extremely convenient to be able to pick up the U Haul and access self storage in the same building. It was easy to load and unload items because you can back the truck up to the main storage entrance and they have a bank of rolling carts that are available to help get your items to your room! The storage area was spotlessly clean and the temperature controlled rooms added extra peace of mind that anything and everything you stored was safe. I would have to say this was quite possibly the most friendly and helpful staff I have ever encountered. It was very easy to find someone if you needed assistance and every person was knowledgeable. If I need self storage in the future and for anyone that needs self storage - you won't regret choosing this location.

Took time to explain the facility and access to me even though it was near closing. They continued to be helpful and friendly during our "move in" the next day. Returning the U-Haul was quick and effortless. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for storage or truck rentals. Kudos to the associates for a clean, organized and user friendly location.

I never thought I would have such a great experience at a uhaul, but they proved me wrong. It was like having a personal concierge at a six-star hotel, even though the ratings only go up to five-star. They were that good.
