NICHOLAS H | Expérience généraleThis whole experience was a total nightmare. They changed my pickup location but didn't tell me it was a 24/7 location with no staff. I arrived in an Uber to pick up the truck in a desolate industrial area. Only to find out after the Uber driver left via a note on the door that said this location is closed please go to this other location. Well I had a stand there on the phone for over an hour by myself scared. The first truck that they gave me was dirty with trash all in front of it and it did not have the equipment that I ordered in it. They switched and gave me another truck which again did not have the equipment that I had ordered in it. All this was done via phone while I stood in this empty parking lot by myself. Finally got the truck and I was told I'd have to drive to another location to get the equipment I needed. I drive to the location and they don't have all the equipment that I needed and had ordered. Finally get the truck home, have movers come and load it scheduled to leave at 6:05 a.m. the following morning we go to start the truck and it's completely dead. Had to wait through another 2-hour. For them to put a new battery in the truck. The only good part about this experience was dropping the truck off as there is actually staff there that took care of my return. I will never use this service again. I was told I would get a discount for all of the problems that happened, I haven't gotten a discount at all and I feel like I need to file a complaint against U-Haul for leaving me stranded and alone in a desolate area when I was not informed about this. Someone had called me a couple days prior and said hey can you do mind picking up your truck at a different location because this one needs to go back to where you're going to. And I said well this isn't going to change anything on my order correct and she said oh no and we'll even give you a discount for doing that and some extra mileage, but that was a lie none of that happened either. I'm going to put this all over social media I don't feel anyone should use U-Haul after what happened to me. They don't care about you they didn't care about me. Never again!
Pamela BI reserved the van 2 months in advance. When I arrived at the location the doors were locked and a sign was posted indicating the location was closing and that customers were to go to an alternate location. I had Uber ed to the location from the airport. I called the uber driver back. Only after he arrived did employees arrive and unlock the doors. They instructed me to return to a different location, further from the airport than my original planning. It seems like some advance notice of the closing location should have been possible for customers with pre-existing reservations.
AMY WFirst location I booked a van at was closed - had to switch locations - wasn't able to complete the rental online - had to be completed in the store. New stores employee was very helpful & polite - truck inside drivers door had something spilled all over it. The new location added 2 hours to my rental that I wouldn't have needed if original location had been available.
Ann GWould not recommend because of the location- it's behind another building, very hard to find and no street signage to help in locating it. Only way we found it was because a U-Haul truck pulled in. All that the personnel said was "you could have just left the keys", There were no keys- it was a trailer.

micheal p | Expérience généraleMy contract was for trailer was to be returned by 7:20 AM Tuesday 2/18. I dropped trailer off at the assigned (unmanned) location on Monday 2/17 before noon. In addition I requested that trailer was to be dropped off at Rehoboth Beach, DE. Apparently U-haul gets to designate drop-off location and not the customer. I was charged an addional day for returning trailer a day early. I will be glad to answer the previous questions honestly once this issue is rectified.

YURGEN WI was given the wrong location and was driving around in circles after unloading a truck that came from out of state and so called again to get assistance again and was given another location which caused the gas to go out as I see that I was charged for fuel that I feel I should not have to pay. Very disappointed

TINA CThe truck was very dirty. There was mechanical problems the entire drive from Colorado to South Carolina. The trailer was also a problem. The lights didn't work. The safety chain was not attached to the car trailer. Because of the mechanical issues, gas cost much more than it should have taken. When Ron Knight arrived at you facility they were given a 5x5 unit when I had ordered at 10x10. All around not a good experience.
RON K | Premières impressionsThis particular storage location in Myrtle Beach on Kings Hwy is very difficult to maneuver through. 20 and 26 ft U-Haul trucks cannot fit in the lanes. I was in J13 and we had to park at the end and take out items back and forth using my pick up truck. Getting in the gate and making that left turn is very tight and we had to back out the gate each time with the 20 and 26 ft U-Haul vehicles we rented. You still have to be careful backing out because the U-Haul box trailers are right in front of the gate. I'm not sure how the rental vehicles below 20 ft are inside the gate but I definitely wouldn't bring in a moving truck as big as the 20 ft U-Haul truck. I use U-Haul whenever I need to move something and I will still use U-Haul, I just won't ever rent a storage from this facility again. The ups was that the storage units were very clean and customer service was excellent..

NICHOLE TI had the U-Haul from 10-2 and before I returned it I was charged $7 700 with a receipt saything that I returned the vehicle and drove well over 20 000 miles which obviously is not possible since I still had the vechile AND not possible to drive that many miles in the amount of time I had it. They were able to refund me however I still have an impending charge on my credit card for the 7 000 which my credit card is now maxed out and I am unable to use it. Which should never have been an issue to start with
KASEY CCustomer service.....a simple Good Morning with a smile and a Thank You at the end, goes a long way. Looking land acting like you don't want to be there, leaves a negative feeling. Vehicle was great and was easy to pick up and drop off.

RICHARD HOur destination was GROSHEN NY. The place that you listed for drop off was NON EXISTED. The person answered the phone did not speak English and hung up on us. The directions you give is not a uhaul place. WE WASTED AN ENTIRE DAY TRYING TO FIND IT. WE GAVE UP & DROVE IT to MIDDLETON, NY 20 MIN AWAY. OUR EXPERIENCE WAS A DAMN NIGHTMARE.

DEMORNIA BI used the after hours drop-off, so no one was there. This would have been so convenient except that the instructions, bar code and website were almost useless. It took forever to find the process for dropping off the trailer after hours. This REALLY needs improvement! Scanning the code should take me to the drop-off process, but instead takes me to the page to create a new rental. The Existing Rental page and one other (I forget which one) did not load at all. Blank pages. Phone signal was good. Other websites loaded just fine. Pages were reasonably quick to navigate on your site for the ones that worked. And easy after finding the right place. Safari on iPhone 14 with most recent updates.

ANTHONY CI was never told you had changed my pickup location. Spent 45 mins sitting there trying to get help. Got to the uhaul you moved me to, and they did not have the truck I reserved! WTF?? The manager there did get me an acceptable replacement, altho they were going to upcharge me for having to take a larger truck! I argued the point and she kept price the same which is only thing that kept me from heading out the door and going elsewhere. Uhaul used to be great. Now the insides of the truck are dirty and the gas tanks are empty. Never again. Will find somewhere else, even if it's few bucks more. Last time I rented,, the truck got a flat and I had to wait for the guy to come from NC to SC to fix it. Prayed the rest of the tires held up cause all had very little tread. Uhaul has become the slums of truck rental in my opinion.

Daniel NWe were 7 year customes before being able to finally clean everything out as w/help after going from 2 units down to one down to a really small unit. So, we spent about $12,000+ in rent over those 7 years so, things were okay for the most part. However, we suffered tremendous loss of items & money during rain from hurricane in 2019. The weather wasn't their fault of course but the holes in in the back walls of our 2 units were. A tremendous amount of water got in the back, a lot of loss & financial loss. They moved us to 2 different units literally on higher ground. In the meantime, they rebuilt the entire row of our original units now with a high concrete pad underneath. But, we were broken in to twice in our new fence-in units. The staff was really helpful & great overall. Thank you to the staff. Jim Burlew

She did not give me proper instructions upon entering the gate and finding my unit because she directed me down the wrong side of the units and the truck got stuck. The staff didn't offer assistance. She acted like it was an inconvenience to redo my access key because it didn't work first time, and because she had to get me a lock that was also a free offer. We had trouble maneuvering the truck with the dolly on it so we had to take it off and hand move it in order to get the truck out. This has been my worse experience with uhaul ever. Including pickup and drop-off and the truck they gave me had roaches and yes I have pictures.

The facility itself is a chaotic maze of trucks and trailers strewn about haphazardly, making access to the storage units nearly impossible. Navigating through this mess felt like solving a labyrinth puzzle rather than a straightforward visit to retrieve my belongings. The customer service was equally appalling. The individuals manning the front desk were not only unhelpful but shockingly rude. Their attitudes were abrasive and dismissive, as if inconveniencing customers was their primary goal. To make matters worse, their behavior was tainted with undertones of racism, which is completely unacceptable in any setting, let alone a professional business environment. It was evident that some of the staff members were under the influence of substances, exhibiting erratic behavior and making it clear that their focus was anywhere but on customer service. This negligence and unprofessionalism reflect poorly on U-Haul as a company and raise serious concerns about their operational standards. In conclusion, I strongly advise against using U-Haul for any storage or moving needs. The disorganized layout, coupled with the disrespectful and potentially dangerous behavior of the staff, paints a picture of a business that should not be operating. My experience was not just disappointing; it was deeply concerning

Mary J | Expérience généraleThe worst! The roof of my building was redone in late June early July of 2022. Roofers left a gaping hole above my unit. A flooding storm came the weekend of July 4. The owner of the uhaul branch texted me with with water just pouring in my unit from the top endlessly. Told me there was a lot of loss in the building, but mine was the only one that would be covered because it was the negligence of the roofers then the owner, Marty ended up selling and left me by the wayside 30 000 of my expansion equipment for Spa and Salon was underwater and destroyed. 5 beautiful top of the line pedicure chairs, never used by me , and so much other equipment. Total loss. Technically it was the roofers, but repwest insurance is the true villain. It took forever to have the inspector come out and assess.He and another contractor for them said it would be covered. They even called right at Christmas last year and asked for proper mailing address to send my reimbursement check. Then when I enquirer after the holidays where it was. They apologized and said they made an error. It wasn't covered. Ugh! I had no recourse and lost my complete unit. All 30k. Heartbreaking and path changing. I rented for 4 years at uhaul when I moved to Myrtle Beach to buy my business, . Creekside Salon. It was my vision to expand when the time was right. What can I say? I guess it wasn't my path? Expensive lesson. I cannot replace that equipment. RUTHLESS. I'll never store at uhaul again. But definitely check who the insurance is through if I have to store. How I wish that the U Haul corporation would have made this right as it completely change the path of my life as a single female business owner. All the money through the years that I spent on securing my precious equipment, all for naught. Shameful.

Randy D | Expérience généraleI Will never use or recommend this location to anyone in fact I've told them all how my account was compromised I had to get new bank cards for my accounts I was over charged for trucks I never rented and the storage that was suppose to be first month free I was charged $150 for my first month the manager Martin that put me in the system for trucks I didn't rent but got charged for was fired or left so no one could help me I had to pay all these fees because my account was blocked and I could not rent so after I paid they let me rent one more time before blocking me again I was charged for two uhaul container that were too small and I could not use but are still on my property for 2 weeks that they been saying they'll be out to get them no one's got them so I'm not responsible I no longer own 975 Gale Ave Conway SC 29525 so Uhaul may want to go get their equipment. I filed a report against this location owned by Bumper to Bumper Conway SC. I'm waiting on a response. Denis is The only employee at this location that's worth anything I can't wait to see him working for USPS.

Management on more than one occurrence has made up their own rules regarding access to my storage. First claimed due to my late payments of which I paid the $$ penalty written in contract then was told later that was because I violated some rule when I went under the gate and forced to do face to face childish check-ins at office every time I need access to my unit. When threatened to evict me after seen going under entrance gate to access unit area but in face I was trying to get OUT if area TRAPPED due to faulty non working gate or gate code. This happened twice in the 3+ years iv been renting and the first of which was under previous management in a storm with lightening , gate wouldn't open and serious FLOODING MADE ME FEAR FOR MY SAFETY. I HAD NO OTHER RECOURSE but still CURRENT management would not listen to my explanation regarding first incident or second and would not review the tape for proof I was trapped yet again within the unit area because the gate would not open and my yells for help were not heard or simply ignored. I was still restricted from accessing my unit except during certain times and with check in at office each time. Bad Flooding is always happening since iv rented there beginning before current management. I did not feel my property was safe from possible water damage but am older and had no other place available nor the assistance to move. Tried to resolve dispute and possibly now that yet another flooding has occurred with damages to multiple units and management experienced the failed gate personally maybe things will change or I will be forced to move due to harrassment. I don't feel I was treated fairly but so not know if others experienced problems or not. Need more staff and upgraded units.

I have a reservation at 12:00 (#94102025)!and we weren't able to have the truck because it wasn't on the place that was supposed we picked it up. I have to visit 3 places more to finally got one. The woman that helps us on 2687 beaver run blvd was so kind, I don't have complaints about her. But I returned the truck this morning and before I arrived the place I put $20 dollars of gas and the measure was between 3/8 and 1/2, closed to 1/2. I asked the guy who check the truck to check the gas in front on me, and I asked him: it's ok??? He said: yes it's. So I don't understand why you charge me with 37 dollars and said that the gas was on 1/4. It's not true!!!

VICTOR P | Expérience généralecomplaint is the trailer I rented to haul my car had very bald tires on the drivers side on the trailer. Nobody should be given this kind of rental vehicles with very bald tires and expect the customer to drive 700+ miles. The response I got when I notified the Uhaul employee was " oh it'll probably be okay ". This to me was a serious infraction and I am going to further investigate this issue. These kind of things change many lives and even kills people. I'm an older gentleman and I have experienced what a bald tire can do. Can be very serious situations arise from being ignorant and ignoring an obvious problem. The good news is ; we made it to our destination and grateful that nothing happened. Could have been a whole other outcome. I suggest employee training on tire maintenance and tread tolerations. In rhis case there was no tolerence measureable. These 2 tires had no visable tread on one side of the trailer. Suffice it to say, I will never use Uhaul again. ... sincerely, J. Reid
