The whole experience went smooth. The trailer was perfect height for unloading. Unfortunately u-haul does not sell the trailers when they get older.They are cut up at the salvage yard. I ordered an auto transport but the 3 on premises were not usable. You need to maintain your equipment. I had to drive to another location to get the auto transporter. It should have been delivered to this location. Very inconvenient. I will go elsewhere in the future.John P.

I needed to keep the truck for 1 more day. I called uhaul customer service and the contract was changed accordingly. I specifically asked what extra charges there would be as I needed the information to get reimbursed from the company responsible for my delays in returning the truck. The service rep said the contract price did not change so I informed the company there would be no need for additional reimbursement. I called twice to make sure as well. When I returned the truck I was charged 56,8 for the additional day. Now I cannot get reimbursed from the mortgage company that caused the need for the extra day. Your service reps should know that there are charges and what the charges would be.Eugene P.

Ole boy at the counter has a bad "daddy" complex. Had to drive 40 extra miles to Augusta to get the van and he call and "demanded" we have the van back by 8 am. Told him it wouldn't be there until 9 am... He said "better have it here by 8:30 am" told him it wouldn't be until 9 am. He hung up on me... He didn't have much to say "face to face" though... Good thing for him... They had another van just sitting on the lot so I don't know what the rush was... Guess it's just his "daddy complex".. Rude A$$..Jayson S.

The transmission on that vehicle was in bad shape. When downshifting it would skip a gear and spam into first causing a big, jerking slowdown.Jonathan P.

Customer's account on website does not seem to link up to information local facility has/uses. We had several discrepancies on scheduling/ reservations between what we did online and what showed up in the system. Also very frustrating to always be redirected through the national CS center, rather than just able to call a local number and talk with someone locally. Long wait times and lots of run-around through multiple reps, overall hours of time, to get a simple question addressed. Appreciate the pricing and our stuff did end up arriving safely and on time, though, so overall it was a good choice to go with Uhaul but be prepared for scheduling and communication difficulties, and lots of time spent on the phone.Lynnette B.
2 tires on the car hauler were not good enough to make a 1000 mile trip, lost 3 hours getting road service to change out 1 blown tire and the other 1 as well as it was going to blow if it wasn't replaced.Dana B.

At pickup, I stood there for 15 min while being ignored. When he finally came over, he said nothing, so I said, "Good Morning." He replied "Yup." When to hook up the trailer. Couldn't get lights to work so he dragged over a smaller trailer to test. The lights still didn't work. He had hooked up to the trailer I wanted and said, "Lights don't work. It's up to you if you want to take it." I played with the connection for a minute, and it was fine, so I took the trailer. The return went kinda smooth. The place itself was clean and nice but the guy seemed more like he was there because he had to be, not because he liked his job or wanted to serve customers.ROBERT D.

I filled a complaint about the access to the Ubox and was told the local manager would call me and I never got a call. I had called to arrange access and explained I would not get everything on that day. A person from Uhaul (located somewhere on the planet after several hours on hold bouncing from person to person) said they would put that in the record. When I went to the location in Augusta, ME, the box was not available. The note in the system said I was not coming on the scheduled day. So, we drove 3 cars an hour away, on a day we took as vacation and could not do anything. When I called (again, another torturous wait on hold) a person noted the mistake, apologized, said they had started a complaint ticket and I would geta call from the lcoal manager. In the end, we picked up the contents another day and the person at the store was nice and he apologized and he said he was going to tell the manager to call as well. I never got a call and I do not expect one. The local manager was not at fault as this was a U-Haul system error made by a person locate in a call center. I can't say how underwhelmed I am by U-hauls serice. Ther eis no lcoal number to call. You get bounced from person to eprson, hold times are awful. When I selcted the "Ca; back" option, I woudl geta call abck and be opyut on hold. Finally, the lack fo folllow up with an unhappy customer speaks volumes of the problems internally at U-haul. The shipping part was great, no damage easy to worjk with etc. The service after the shipping is non existent. And I know, you wills ay it is the worker shortage. I get it but how about training your people better and having some escalation oaths for when U-haul messes up.. Can I charge you for my lost vacation day, wasted gas, etc.? U-Haul charges for being 1 mile over the limit on rental truck and that is fine as you have a business to run, What about customers charging U-haul for their mistakes that cost the customer time and money? Extremely angry which is why I waited a few days to fill this in. And, I really have little recourse as there is no real competition to U-haul so it is what it is.Steve W.

This location has been very simple to work with since 10/2021. I was able to call and speak with Shane and his staff for any needs. Recently the phones are forwarded to a call center which caused me a great deal of time attempting to make arrangements to pick up the contents of my U-Box. Call center rep stated she would send an email and I would be all set. That never happened and caused a delay upon arriving with a 10ft Uhaul truck I picked up 31 miles out of my route as this was the only option as well. The gentleman working was kind and helpful however very busy on Saturday morning. Fortunately this Augusta Maine location has been exceptional to work with and they are the reason I took my time to share a review. Staffing of 1 young man seemed inadequate. I had to wait some time (perhaps 10 minutes) to be waited on. He was doing a good job, just he was alone with several customers in at the same time. I reserved and in-town truck. When U-Haul called to confirm, they said I HAD to take a one-way truck because an in-town truck wasn't available. When I checked in, they made it an in-town contract which confused things when I went to return. I got it straightened out over the phone, but the one-way vs. in-town rental being changed twice (once with my knowledge and once without) meant I had to make several calls and wait on the phone several times for help. The one-way vs. in-town should be simpler.Motte H.

The truck pulled all the time and when I went to return the truck, I asked the workers a few questions and couldn't answer then and was rude and continued to run my card without helping me and felt like he was pushing me out of the store, never will I be doing this againDaryn M.
When I went to pick up the truck the one that was ordered 2 weeks before I needed it, was not the size that I ordered. I never got a call saying that size was not available. The customer service guy behind the desk was an ass. Not once did he get up off his stool or chair. The engine light came on so when I got the truck where I needed it, it never left the spot. When an engine light goes on, you don't move the vehicle. When I returned the truck, I mentioned about the engine light. The worker said, the engine light has been on for over a year. I paid in full when I picked up the truck and when I dropped it off, he was going to charge me again. He even owed me a credit. He didn't want to give me the credit.Cathy H.

I have never rented from here before without having to wait a while for service. The Uhaul app was "supposed" to allow me to skip the wait/counter but the app wouldn't even load when I got to that point in the pick up so I was forced to go to the counter and then wait inside anyway. Incredibly annoying. Staff was fine and got me checked out but the explanation of "yeah the app doesn't always work right on the first try but then it does later" is unhelpful. Knowing the app is going to suck when I need it is not going to make me want to use this service again. Also, I wasn't told to check the link I was auto sent in a text before I left the site with the truck. I'm not a slave to my phone so I didn't see the text until later. Assuming I know to check these texts when I'm busy with the process of a move is poor customer service. Giving me partial information is also poor customer service. Hopefully this is the last time I'll ever need to use the Augusta ME location because I have never had a good experience there.Cheryl C.

Truck front windshield was dirty inside and out I had to stop and clean. Very rough ride when going over the smallest bump and small pot hole it felt like tires was coming off. Power steering was whinnying every time you turned, Truck didn't seem well maintained.Ricky F.

When asking questions staff didn't really know the answer so went to the person who I thought was in charge and he did give some advice and some things he told us were untrue about moving Dolly's and blankets. I later found out that the truck he gave me to use was a blue key and them come with nothing.. unfortunately we had to find one to load everything. Other then that very satisfied.Michelle T.

Forklift operator who loaded the UBox onto the trailer punctured the door of the UBox. The blade also punctured a box inside containing $2000 stereo speakers. Thankfully the speakers were not damaged, but the margin was literally 1 inch. I strongly recommend placing valuables toward the center of the box with less precious cargo near the walls.Christopher B.

Staff was not helpful in research into account and charges related to the account, told to call customer service as they sat and watched, refused to service after being asked to look into charges nobody could seem to find that was linked with a reservation # and order #. Why would a company provide a customer with such reference numbers if you have no way to research with them, gives your customers and future customers a false sense of trust in company that refuses to stand by their word and then refuses to help a customer when they are being told they are rude for inquiring. I'm allowed to be frustrated that my confirmed reservation was cancelled and charges from UHaul on my debit card could not be located and refused to give the merchandise purchased without the researched receipt. Uhaul is a great company to work with. I have rented trucks from them numerous times and it is always hassle-free. The pricing is steep, we where told when we first inquired that they had units " half the size of a two car garage!" We thought sweet okay for that price that's great.... come to find out it was actually 10 times smaller than that and we needed to utilize 2 units instead of just one!( thank fully staff on was able to help work out a deal for this false information and took the first month of of the second one so we had a 2 for 1 month deal, but all we had was a couch a bed Frame( in peices), a box spring, and a few loose items, these took up 90 % of both units " half the size of a two car garage!" Not!, and the late fees are ridiculous one day late and you charge $20 for a "delinquent Fee" I appreciate the storage availability.. but again the prices, lies, and late fees are what took had us move out!Schyler H. | Expérience générale
I signed my contract repeatedly and it never stuck in the system until I did it online. I repeatedly changed my address and left a credit card but never was charged as expected. The store locked my storage unit and would not reply to my messages until corporate got involved. I know times are hard but this was ridiculous. Heather Poore is OUTSTANDING! First, she took my initial phone call, answered all my questions and made me feel comforted in having to handle a last-minute, unplanned move of my college student due to coronavirus. Then when I arrived from NJ the next day, her smiling face met me and she again calmly explained everything and got me set up. This is my first time renting storage; she was patient, helpful and didn't rush me. Then I made three trips to the facility in the next 24 hours. I was impressed with the cleanliness, the access to carts, the security, etc. I can't say enough about how Heather went above and beyond and how all the little things she did added up to reducing my stress in a time when I greatly appreciated it. Also, thanks for the one-month free for displaced college students. I thought that was a very classy and empathetic move by UHaul.
