Lots of rat droppings. It was so bad I had to throw away a queen size mattress no compensation was given. Manager wasn't available. Even though the staff was helpful, I still had issues. They were able to stop my auto and advised me to contact corporate to try and have the fee waived since I would only be using 2 days out of the month. My $170 monthly auto payment usually came out on the 16th but I couldn't get movers to get my storage out until 6/18/25. I had been paying on time for over 2 years. Manager told me that corporate could only waive the fee but he told me if I didn't pay another lock would be put on my unit on the 18th, the day I was moving out, and would not waive the fee as a courtesy. He basically threatened me by saying I wouldn't be able to access my storage unit in the 18th unless I paid the full month, so I did. He told me corporate could only do that and when I contacted corporate they told me the manager could waive it if he chose to. He just didn't want to help me. I tried to speak to him in person but staff said he was unavailable and was breaking locks to about 90 unpaid storage units. I was a good standing loyal customer for years never missed a payment and I just feel super slighted and ripped off for having to pay. Some staff told me corporate would do it the manager told me corporate might but most likely wouldn't and I felt like I was getting the run around. Over all it was a horrible experience getting my items with rat droppings all over the place and I'm out $170.

Alan BI'm very confused why I'm reading my receipt and it says that there's damage from hitting a tree?? I definitely did not hit a tree! I need someone to contact me to explain! And it said i left truck behind without talking to staff? Not true i talked to staff they literally looked at the truck and said i was all set to go! Very upset right now!

Tried other non car trailers where my truck indicated out tail lights on one (it was correct) and worked fine on another. Ended up connecting to the only other car trailer there which was noted in the system as needing repair. Lights worked fine on it thou. When I went to return it. The uhaul app sucks and would allow me to take the required photos for return. So it froze out and now says my return is complete. So I think it's all set. Overall. Real awkward rental.

Shufeng ZMice feces all throughout my belongings even though I had no food products stored in my unit. In addition to that one of my units got water damage from a roof leak. I was not informed of the leak and when I brought it to the managers attention I was lied to. He stated he was unaware of the leak even though one of his people had put a tarp over my unit. Never using this Uhaul location again.

CHRIS LThe one problem was the return process. It was poor. It took at least 40 minutes. The app would not allow me scan the bar code to return the truck. I had to get on the phone to customer service and then was transferred to IT. I was standing in front of the U Haul store on a very cold and dark night in a less than desirable neighborhood. Not and ideal way to end my day.

I've been to this location twice (van rental and hitch install) and each experience was wonderful. The guys that work here are really kind and always calm even if things are hectic. I would recommend this U-Haul location to anyone.

FRANKLIN CUpon returning the truck, we had replaced the gas to the level which it was when we first took the truck. On paperwork, they said it was half of a tank and when we were in the truck, it was a little below it basically to 1/4 of a tank, we filled it to approximately half of a tank. That was more than we were given. We were supposed to receive a text to record discrepancy, however, we never did therefore we were charged not only the $30 refueling fee but also $22 $23,99 for gas, which is outrageous. We will never recommend this location or for that matter U-Haul to anyone. Please have someone respond to this comment.

YVES RNew manager or guy up for promotion, was very condescending towards us. We wanted to pick up our mattress and needed a van. We asked for cargo van, and the manager declined to and offered a huge moving truck, which we found was unnecessary for just a mattress. Instead of just renting what we were asking for, he went back and forth with us and then sent us away to another location for a box truck, because "he's been doing this for a decade and know a cargo won't fit a queen mattress." We called the mattress company who assured that it would fit in a cargo van. When we went back in the manager insisted on going back and forth with us again about what he knows and how Cumberland would fine us for cancellation. He never asked about our mattress dimensions or if it was even packaged in a box, he just became condescending and shrugged us off. He mocked my partner for asking for the boxier shaped cargo van. We rented the boxier cargo van either way, and our mattress slid right in both flat and upright without any stress to the mattress. We found him to be very rude person, hiding behind an "upbeat" personality. When we returned the truck, he didn't even acknowledge us.

When I came back to return them, they forced me to produce a receipt even though I gave them the credit card through which I bought them. It sounds like they pulled a fast one by not giving me a receipt in the first place to make sure I can never return them

Contacted them to get paid for ruined items and was told it had to get someone to go look at the items and give me a quote for a repairs??? That should be their problem not mine since I paid my storage fees that included insurance. I will never store my items in uhual again and would not recommend it at all.

Devosha M | Expérience généraleThere was a rupture in the air conditioning unit above our storage that got all of our belongings wet, the company covered with a tarp our unit but everything got ruined with the humidity and ended up with black mold and on top of that rat droppings. We had so much droppings in our belongings. Manager Mr. cabrera was amicable and reachable and did a viewing of the damages and saw that there were no food items since its my daughters dorm furnishings and personal items. this was a really bad experience that resulted in the loss of invaluable family heirlooms, clothing items, gifts and even signed books. Taking a toll on our savings since we had to repurchase everything.

This is the second time I've rented a storage unit here and, all things considered, this is probably the best in the Providence/Pawtucket area. One tip based on reports from family and friends who use this storage facility: pack your belongings well, and after you've gotten everything into your unit, cover it all with a tarp or at least a plastic drop cloth.

I also want to say thank you to Stephen the manager for helping me get set up with a U-box to ship everything back to California. He made the transaction very easy. I also want to thank Travis for his assistance. He helped me out in the beginning several years ago renting my unit to me and again with my check in process for my U-box and other items I needed. Thank you again for a great renting experience. FYI this facility is 100 times better than the local Santa Rosa, CA facility I have dealt with in the past!

My items were stored there for just a month, and the conditions were appalling. Despite a warning from another renter about a mouse infestation, my time constraints during the move forced me to ignore the cautionary advice. Upon retrieving my belongings, I discovered significant damage due to water exposure during a regular rainstorm. Disturbingly, the storage facility reeked of dead mice, confirming the prior renter's warning. Even though the facility claimed to be climate-controlled, the basic rain affected my items, raising questions about the facility's ability to uphold its climate control promises. When I contacted the facility about the damages, they displayed a lack of accountability and empathy. Their response, citing my lack of insurance as a reason for inaction, was disheartening. A facility entrusted with safeguarding items should ensure protection against elements, especially during routine weather events. Within a mere four weeks of storage, multiple items suffered damage from both water and mice. The facility's inability to fulfill its duty in preserving items, even without insurance, is disappointing. While I can understand potential issues during extreme weather conditions, the inability to shield my belongings from a standard rainstorm is inexcusable. During my check-out, the personnel at the desk further demonstrated a lack of concern. Their audacity to inquire about sweeping out the unit, when my items had already been subject to water and rodent damage, highlighted their disregard for maintaining a suitable storage environment. The dismissive response to my concerns was the final straw, and I am relieved to have relocated my belongings from what I can only describe as a decrepit and neglectful storage unit. I strongly advise against using this facility for anyone seeking reliable and secure storage solutions.

John W | Expérience généraleI would really love to give 5 stars here, because for all intense purposes the facility was clean, secure and well maintained. However, upon further inspection you can only imagine my shock and complete disappointment when I realized my belongings had been infested with mice urine and feces! I had to go through everything, with gloves and a mask for fear of getting sick from the mice urine and feces! I was left with no choice but to take everything out and load it in my vehicle. Before taking anything into my home, I had to sort through and throw away many of my rear collections of books that were chewed up and urinated in; urine, poop, and nested in; towels, blankets, sheets, and clothing all destroyed, along with various small furniture items. I specifically rented a unit on an upper level, paid for insurance, and followed the rules of your Facility. When I checked out I told the front desk associate about this issue and was told "Yeah, we know someone had been storing food in their unit"! Honestly! I feel that the responsible actions that your facility should have taken should have been immediate extermination of all units possibly affected; each unit holder should have been made aware of the problem, and we should have had the opportunity to examine our belongings for any damages caused by the infestation. I was so disappointed to find out that you were aware of this infestation and not notifying renters was poor judgment on your part. I was certainly notified several time about your monthly price increase. This situation was intentionally mishandled and in good faith I wouldn't recommend anyone store anything that isn't intended to be trashed in the long run. Sincerely, Carla B

Paul H | Premières impressionsI was placed in a unit at the back of the storage facility located on the second floor- on the 4th day of my move in, the elevator became inoperatble, making it unavailable for use- it remained this way until my move out 30 days later. I'd previously advised management that a hand truck would be beneficial to remain on the second floor, to avoid having to hand-carry items to and down the stairs. Almost every visit, I had to park my car, go to the second floor to find no hand truck available, go to the office and wait for them to bring the hand-truck to the second floor. The fact that the facility did not properly maintain the elevator, made it especially aggravating to have to ask for a common courtesy of the hand truck availability almost every visit. I would avoid this location like the plague in the future and would suggest others avoid it as well. The one thing the made sure worked was the debit of my bank account at midnight of the day I'd previously advised the staff of my move-out. They've since refunded my money but no person, especially with the stress of moving should have to ask for reasonable accommodations particularly when it's not the fault of the customer the facility is poorly/improperly maintained.

I've not heard from U-Haul regarding any compensation in the matter. The air quality in the building is poor and soot covered all my boxes. I've had to rebox everything again after emptying my unit.

Then when we did come back to open the unit, we were forcefully sold a lock when the new unit had a lock provided to us included and the lock we already had come with was a Uhaul lock as well.

However on 3 times I would make plans and would need to access my storage unit during the times it's supposed to be accessible and I could not get into the building due to technical difficulties and could also not get ahold of the manager (number to call on door for problems-) no answer ever! Probably not an issue for everyone but that's a big issue for me! I could not access my unit as agreed upon with this unit however would get charged a late fee if I was less than a day late with payment. Not cool!

While talking to him, he kept walking off talking at the same time. Finally the same came in that told me to leave the truck key came in was gentle and serve me well. I understand the new pandemic world is crazy n stressful, but at the same time, we should continue to serve our business n have the patience. I worked as a nurse during the pandemic challenge... Patience is what took us through.

One time the key card entry system was not working at all, as well as the large load in doors, and most recently i was able to use the key card entry but the load in doors were still not operating meaning both times I had to prop the doors open and lift my loads through the small door one by one. If i had any very large furniture items it wouldn't have been possible to get them into my unit.

However, When I went to the office, they told me that was the old price and the same unit I reserved would be $99.95. 2. reserved a vehicle indoor storage on 2/24/2021 for $64,95 with reservation#796049-00117857. I double check with the staff in the office on 2/27/2021 and he confirmed the storage will fit my car. I made the payment $64,95 and storage my vehicle on 2/28/2021 following the staff's assistance. However, I received another $47,85 charge and the rate for the storage changed to $119 on the second day. The manager told me that I am free to move my car someone else, however that would not be an option for me because I am out of the state. This is not a good business.

Two outside guys didn't wear masks & in RI it's mandated. You should try to purchase a tight fitting masks for fall into winter or you'll have staff sick.

The gentlemen that booked my truck was one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. His mask was off, explaining the system poorly, would not make eye contact, responded very short and was rude in general. It reflected poorly on the other great employees. I have never had a bad experience with UHual so I will continue using the service but the gentlemen that booked my Truck was terrible.

Most unhelpful customer care and laziest on site staff. I had to carry large heavy boxes in my arms down three flights of stairs. WHY IS UHAUL SELLING UPPER FLOOR STORAGE WITHOUT A FUNCTIONAL ELEVATOR IN THE STORAGE BUILDING?

The elevator literally stopped working and when we called for help no one came. We rang the help button and waited for close to 15 minutes. When no one came we went to the office and finally a lady staff told the guy of the situation but he was busy and came over after he finished what he was doing. We had to carry stuff up to the second floor a few times before the manager came and fixed the elevator about 20min after the guy left and told us there was nothing more he could do and there is no other elevator for the storage place. The staff was nice but there should be another elevator or a staff specifically answering the people at the storage units. Thank god no one was stuck inside of the elevator because we would have been out of luck. Besides the elevator situation it was not a bad move in.

Next day comes around and we go to rent a unit at U-Haul Pawtucket 5x10 ... elevator breaks... we are offered little options to solve this and not even an apology from staff. End up renting a 10x10 in another building having to walk all of the stuff we already moved through the building over the bridge across another building to our unit. Again, no help or compensation offered from staff. I understand that things happen no one can control a broken elevator. But the blatant disregard disrespect and clear lack of customer service your staff displayed was disgusting and I hope you can improve on that.

Day one, when I arrived to pick up the rental truck, the young man assisting me at the desk although polite was not knowledgeable in the areas of my other reservation for storage, the promotion of " If you rent a truck you get the first month free for a storage unit", or the location of the unit itself. He had me walking around in the maze from one building to another. After debating for some time and another associate confirming the promotion we finely got everything squared away. When I returned with my belongings the elevator to my unit was not accessible because I was told they couldn't find the KEY. After about an hour they finally granted me another unit located on the first floor. This unit was smaller in height by two feet, a big difference for storage. Still no complaints. Day two, I needed another unit to store the rest of my belongings. After the transaction was complete the associate brought me to view the unit. We entered the building, but the elevator was broken so we had to take the stairs. Was told by Sandy from corporate and the associate that the elevator is down several times throughout the year and that it was getting shut down in August to be replaced. The associate who brought me to view the unit assured me that the elevator would be fixed shortly so I could move in to my unit located on the second floor. It took the elevator repairman to tell me after waiting 45 minutes for the KEY that the elevator would not be available until a part was ordered. It turned out to be down for two days. I was then told by Corey Perry the manager that they had a "BACKUP" elevator, but it was located in the other building. Now I had to reload the rental truck and drive to the other building. Sandy offered to help reload, but I declined she did not inform me of her affiliation to the company nor did Corey I found out later. Now I was transporting my belongings from one building to another thru dust and debris, making multiple trips even with the assistance of Chris an employee. Afterward I returned to the desk and asked for the manager, I was told he was with another customer. I replied that I would wait, he showed up seconds later. I wanted to know what were the expenses that I had accrued and would be expecting to see on my credit card statement. He offered no discounts or apologies for my inconvenience until I asked. Then told me that he needed to check with corporate and get back to me. All in all after reading the reviews I expected to be treated with unprofessionalism but never thought that the process of using this facility would be so laboring. I was paying two guys $90 per hour for standing around waiting for a KEY to an elevator on both occasions. Needless to say I will not be using this branch again nor would I suggest it to anyone. Sandy from Corporate, Corey Perry manager, Han assistant manager all failed to inform me of their affiliation to the company. I have always used the U-Haul facility in East Providence with NO problems and am very heartened that they were not able to accommodate me this time.
