Are you supposed to hook each connected strand on the same side to put tension on the circle or hook each connected strand on opposite ends putting tension on the binder and cord not the circle?

Will it work for moving a full-sized mattress on an 8' pick-up truck?

I need to move a queen mattress and box springs on the top of my van luggage rack. ill be traveling about 120 miles, what is the product to tie it down securely?
