I have Shipping Packaging Tape, Moving Packaging Tape, U-haul Packaging/ Mailing Tape and Clear Sealing Tape. The Sealing Tape label says 3mil thick. Do you know of any difference in the 3? Should I use a heavier tape for the dish barrel box?

Hi Lyndsay. The answer depends on how large your canning jars are. The cell kit that goes inside the Dish Barrel Box has three levels. The cells in the two top levels measure 4.25" x 4.25" x 6.5" deep. The cells in the bottom level measure 3.25" x 3.25" by 12" deep. The width can be increased by removing partitions. Hopefully this helps give a better idea if your jars will fit!

Do you sell any dish/glass packs that are shorter than this dish barrel? This is a pretty deep box, and packing it with my heavier stoneware dishes/mugs will make it way too heavy. I was hoping you had something that's more like a "cube" (example, 18L X 18W and around 16"-18" high). Do you have anything like this?
Hey Beth, we don't carry any dish or glass packs that are perfectly square, but we do carry the Dish Saver Kit and the Glass Pack Kit, both of which are not quite as deep as the Dish Barrel Box.

How do I fold flaps on the box without tearing the box up?
Our boxes have what is called a flap-lock feature on the top flaps.
You assemble the box by first folding the flap-locked flaps down, then flipping the box over, sealing the bottom and flipping it back over.
At this point, the flaps will lay tightly around the top of the box for it to be easier to load. When you're ready to seal the top flaps, you simply cut the flap-locks, fold them up and tape them.
Box dimension provided is with lid close? I wanted to travel with them on airplane and most airline max dimension allowed is 62 in. Do you know if they will accept it as is or how can i cut it down if I want to?
Yes, the dimensions provided are with all flaps closed.

The Dish Barrel is a double wall box and can certainly handle the load, but your back may not. If you decide to go this route, make sure to use a hand truck. For packing material, U-Haul packing paper and Enviro-Bubble is what we recommend.
