Will this adapter work with the 5'x8' trailer

-Bruce 28/2/2023 3h05m59 pm

Hi Bruce! This does fit 2" by 2" receiver tubes. I hope that helps!

-Kristy 1/3/2023 12h07m55 pm

Can the adapter be flipped in order to lower the and use it this way?

-Jesus 4/11/2019 1h03m28 pm

Hello, Jesus! We do not recommend doing that since the ball mount and your trailer may come in contact with the ground, making it an unsafe option. Thank you!

-Savannah 18/11/2019 10h44m15 am

If I put a Hitch Cargo Carrier basket (weighs 70lb) in the top receiver, how much weight can I safely carry in the cargo basket? Trying to raise cargo basket because it scrapes the ground on inclines.

-Eric 6/3/2019 9h00m02 am

Hello, Eric! This adapter is rated for 750 pounds tongue weight. However, your hitch system is only as strong as its weakest component. Please see your trailer hitch's tongue weight carrying capacities to compare and compute. If you require further assistance, stop by your local U-Haul Hitch Center. Thank you!

-Savannah 3/29/2019 3h54:45 PM

I have a 275 ib. motorcycle I haul on an aluminum rack that drags the ground if I hit an incline. Will this height adapter carry that kind of weight? This is exactly what I've been looking for!

-Brian Munsey- 26/7/2018 11h13m44 am

Hello, Brian! This adapter is rated for 750 pounds tongue weight, but the weight rating can be reduced by up to 50 % if the top receiver tube opening is used with carriers that extend away from the adapter. I hope that is helpful!

-Savannah 8/30/2018 2h02:21 PM

I have a 1,25" bike carrier. Can I use a 1,25" to 2" adapter on the Multi-use upper receiver so the bike carrier can be used?

-Pat 9/7/2018 1h41m14 pm

Hey, Pat! Yes, but please take into consideration the added length when using an adapter; the bike rack may contact your trailer. Thank you!

-Savannah 13/8/2018 10h31m01 am

What is the length of the extender, front to back? I'm concerned about it being deep enough to mount to my hitch and have enough clearance to put my hitch hauler on the receiver without hitting the bumper on my '15 Kia Sportage.

-Jim 22/5/2018 6h28m50 am

Hello, Jim! The length from the pin hole to the back of the top receiver tube is 5 inches. The length from the pin hole to the ball hole is 12-1/4 inches. I hope that is helpful!

-Savannah 15/6/2018 11h24m44 am

I don't need the ball hitch, just a rise adapter for a power wheelchair carrier. It's like a cargo tray. I think it weighs 300lbs loaded. Can I carry that up top if I don't use the ball hitch?

-Kathy 15/5/2017 5h12m38 am

Hi, Kathy! This product is not recommended for use with a wheelchair or wheelchair carrier. Their combined weight at that vertical and horizontal distance from your vehicle receiver hitch will act like a lever system, flexing your hitch when you are over uneven roads and bumps. It would be better to use rear suspension airbags or stiffeners to adjust back to riding height when using the lift.

Please contact your local U-Haul Hitch Center if you need any more assistance. Thank you!

-Savannah 7/7/2017 8h28m33 am

I have a Jeep Jk with a 2000lb towing capacity. would the curt multi use hitch be strong enough to pull a 1200lb trailer on the ball and a 230lb dirt bike on the hitch? And if it is will this combination max out the tongue weight of the hitch?

-Bryan Van Wagner 12/1/2017 9h03m36 pm

The weight of your dirt bike would exceed your vehicles maximum allowed tongue weight.

-TIMOTHY 1/27/2017 1h22:42 PM

How much weight will the upper receiver handle? Not the whole thing just the part designed for the bike rack? Could I put a ball mount in it also and pull a trailer?

-Toby Gillis 2/7/2016 8h53m43 am

Hello, the receiver tube is not intended for towing use.

-SAVANNAH 11/7/2016 8h57m45 am

Is there a combination brake and turn signal trailer light that can be purchased that will allow you to insert it into the bike rack receiver when you are not using it to haul a bicycle rack? If there is one does it use a 4 wire or 7 wire connector? Merci.

-J. Lewis 23/11/2015 1h03m08 pm

Currently U-Haul stores offer the CR007A hitch cover with 4-flat outlet that lights up with tail and brake, part CR007A.

–Joseph 11/30/2015 8:50:49 AM

What is the Height change? I am trying to raise my bike rack so my bikes are not dragging on the ground.

-Kevin 4/6/2015 9h32m54 am

The ADAPTER9 will raise your bike rack by 5-13/16 inches.

Thanks for asking!

–Joseph 6/26/2015 4:08:05 PM

is there enough to put my rascal mobil scooter rack on it and pull a u haul trailer

-eric 5/10/2014 9h28m24 am

It would depend somewhat on the weight of your rack and scooter combo. Please contact your local UHaul center before you move forward with this purchase. Thanks.

–Ronald 10/6/2014 9:35:09 AM

does this style come with a 3 inch drop

-Don 15/7/2014 2h16m41 pm

"U-Haul offers this style ball mount with a 2 inch drop only."

–Ronald 7/16/2014 9:48:58 AM

What is the weight rating of the "extra" receiver tube? I want to make sure it will handle a 50 lb. bike rack and 4 bikes. Please advise.

-Steve Brothers 14/7/2014 7h52m15 am

"The Adapter9 is rated at 7,500lbs gross trailer weight and 750lbs tongue weight. The trailer tongue weight, the weight of the bike rack and bikes must not exceed 750lbs. Please note, a hitch system is only as strong as its lowest-rated component. Compare the maximum tow rating of the hitch, ball mount and ball. Your hitch system rating is the lowest weight rating among those components."

–Ronald 7/16/2014 9:19:18 AM

Do you have one like this for a 1 1/4 inch receiver?

-Lonna 26/4/2014 9h11m41 am

No. Sorry. We do not carry this to fit a 1,25" receiver.

–Ronald 4/28/2014 8:20:17 AM

Is there a mount like this one that does not have a drop? Or ideally lifts up a little?

-Kelly 20/3/2014 12h45m31 pm

Our hitch pro writes: "There are several dual receiver options available, please contact your local U-Haul center to find out which one is best for you."
