PASCAL DWhile these locations were great, the overall Uhaul experience and backend processes were terrible. This was the closest location that would take the trailer. There was no one at the original location so I had to call and drive here. This is also after the pickup location was changed 2x.

ELI RThe door cow wouldn't work for me at first and requested a swipe card. I went into the facility and was told no swipe card was needed. I entered code on both machines and that worked. I was not told where the unit was located in the facility. When I arrived there was a zip tie preventing me from opening the unit. I had to stop unloading and go back l to retrieve scissors to remove the zip tie. There were no places to park to unload the trailer on the side street due to no parking signage. There was a foul odor inside the storage facility. It was not a pleasant move in experience. There should be more staff on duty. The man who handled equipment returns was amazing. He was working by himself that I saw and he handled every situation in a timely fashion.

The designated place to park would not allow the trailer because of the spacing on the street. The storage unit had a zip tie on it that would not allow for me to access it without scissors from the front desk. There was no black box to protect my unit from bugs and vermin. The storage has a foul odor. There are no signage to help find the unit. I was not given a card to access the door which became a hassle. There was only one man working for returns, while he was doing an amazing job there should be more people to help in that area. He got me unloaded in no time. One person working the front desk. There was no lock in the unit that should've been provided. Overall not a great experience but it'll do until I find a better place.

RAUL GAll, The inside employee that works there on 5/4/25 from 7am-11am (2125 Dempster, Evanston IL, 60201) needs more training. I rented a van from there today (Not Online) and after receiving my paperwork I noticed there was a discrepancy with the gas. The paperwork showed that it was 13/16 full, when actually was 3/4 full. When I brought this up to his attention( before leaving the site), he said that I would have to ask for those changes online. I asked him if he could change it, and he said NO. I did not understand why since I just had him help me out. He said to take a picture, which I already had and showed him. But he said he could not help me. He was very very condescending, making hand gestures like if I was deaf, after I stood there wondering why he couldn't help me. I asked him if he would be there in 2 hours( my return time) so that I could have someone who is aware of the situation and not be charged for s simple mistake. He said he does not know his schedule. I then asked for a manager/supervisor and he said they do not have anyone. This is hands down the worst U-haul experience. I will begin using the Penske rental on Oakton to truck rental.

To turn them back on, I had to stop working, step out of my unit, and walk all the way to the entrance of the storage area to trigger the sensor. Also, the facility got hot in the summer. Last, I signed up for payment notification emails on my online account and received none. When I asked the staff at the facility to check on these, they said they turned them on on their end. Still, I never received any. Maybe have U-Haul tech support look into this? Besides these complaints, using and managing the unit was great. Thanks, U-Haul!

Tanya HIt rained for a lot of my drive from Illinois to North Carolina. The tailgate was fully closed and padlocked and was not opened a single time during the drive. There was no rain during the loading of the truck. When we got to our destination and unloaded the truck, multiple of our items were wet and water damaged. Multiple of the moving blankets were soaked. There likely had to be some break in seal in the truck that allowed the rain water to enter into the cargo area. Would have been good for that to have been identified and resolved and/or for that truck to not be rented out until it was resolved. I would like to know what the process looks like from here for updates on inspection of the vehicle that was rented to me and what to do about my water damaged items.

ANGELA JOverall the experience was good. Upon moving out there was some evidence of pests (rats I'm thinking) but the unit had a rat trap in it. My only other complaint was I almost always had trouble checking in at the unit. Either the code wouldn't work or the card wouldn't access the building. While the staff did always help rectify the problem, I typically had to wait 10+ minutes in the store to be helped.

Betty E | Premières impressionsThe service at the front desk was absolutely disappointing. I was given a truck that was blocked by other trucks, preventing me from accessing it properly. When I went inside to inform the staff, their response was that I should choose the truck next time to avoid this issue, essentially passing the operational problem onto the customer. To make matters worse, I had to enter the truck through the passenger side because the driver's door was blocked due to the trucks being parked too closely. The overall service at this location was shockingly bad. The staff was not only unhelpful but also rude, and it was clear that they had no interest in doing their job, especially on a Sunday. This experience was a far cry from my previous interactions with the company, and I am incredibly disappointed. I cannot recommend this location to anyone, and I sincerely hope the management addresses these issues.
NICOLAS SThey told me to leave the key in the ignition and I can leave and someone will start the return process for me without dropping the keys off etc..I got a call an hour later stating they can't find the key and the doors are locked.which i left the doors unlocked and left keys in ignition. They said they will be charging me $100 because they can't find the key. I haven't been charged so i assume they found the key but they were very unprofessional and accusing me of losing the key before checking.

MANOEL SThe cargo van I rented was just what I needed and I got it on short notice. Great customer service! In and out in minutes. The van was dirty, but it was the middle of February, so it's not a real complaint.
Adam HMixed. They initially gave me an van that was blocked by two card in the front so we had to switch to a new truck. Then I did not check the gas level properly and it was 3/4 but they wrote in 7/8 and I tried to tell them that it was 3/4 but anyway they did not listen and charged me an additional $10 I should have taken a picture.
SUBHAJIT SI moved out of unit 1176 on December 28, 2024 and I moved out of 1441 unit on January 26, 2025 and yes, my units were. I'm secure my computer printer Alexa shredder were taking, but that was because I could not close my unit. I did have a bad experience when I was trying to move out of 1441 as I came every day to remove boxes to clear it out in case I did not have the money to renew it for January 27, 2025 they had locked it like 10 times I had to keep going in the office and asking them to please remove the lock so I can remove the boxes. I am a 69 year old, elderly disabled woman so that didn't make it hard for me although I love everybody that works there and I love U-Haul so I will continue to be a customer. I just don't want them to keep saying I like I moved out in February. That's not true. I moved out in January January 26, 2025 so that I wouldn't be charged for a whole another month starting in January 27, 2025 and also I moved out of the other unit 1176 with the computer and stuff was so I don't know who took it. It could've been the movers that moved to me on December 28 and I got out of there before January 7 so I wouldn't have to pay another month so that's why I'm saying this because they keep saying my move out day was to something it is not I was not in there in February at all so Diana Logan 847-997-9969

Rebecca provided me with assistance several days ago over the phone and initially held the space for me. In the past when I had a storage space George assisted me and I understand he's still their! Martel Harlan the General Manager also assisted me yesterday when my friend and I could not get out the Greenwood entrance/exit. The only complaint that I have is the cleaning products that are used in the office area and bathroom are too strong! I'm old school, I like consistency, working with the same people. Thank you very much!

Really hard to move big items through one door that i cant prop open. I even dropped a piece of furniture off my cart because of the door. I did check in but regardless the alarm kept going off after i open the door with my code. Tried calling on the intercom for help, nobody answered. Little things like that really make the moving process more stressful then it already is.

I did not receive a probation of my storage fee I was charged $125 on 10/1 and removed my things from storage on 10/3/24. I also did not receive my one month free for storage. I'm very disappointed and will be reporting this location to the better business bureau.

Although the rates are better at U-Haul the customer service and experience has been trash as per usual. Within the first month of me renting a unit I had another unit rented out in my name by an employee. The whole mess was handled poorly in my opinion. And the lack of proper and professional communication from the manager of the location was telling of how this location is run.

And I think the service and support have only improved in this time, based on my experience. Only caveat: There was a miscommunication with my return date. I was told at the desk the truck was due on Tuesday by 130. When it was apparently due on Monday at 130. I've inquired to dispute the charge, since I was returned the truck Tuesday morning (after having it at the facility Monday morning)....and only kept it the extra day, understanding I had that extra day.

I was told to come back later as they would have to call IT, and when I came back that day it was still not working. It was definitely frustrating both for me and the person helping me (I will say they were very helpful) but there wasn't anything they could do. Definitely a technology issue but led to a horrible experience.

Adriana G | Expérience généraleI was really dissapointed with the entrance at your storage facility. As a customer, I have had a terrible experience trying to get items into the storage unit. I feel it is important to bring this issue to your attention so that it can be addressed and improved for future customers. Firstly, the parking situation is frustrating. Having to park on the street and then walk to the entrance is inconvenient, especially when carrying large or heavy items. Additionally, the double doors at the entrance only open one at a time, causing a bottleneck and making it difficult to maneuver items inside. Furthermore, the door that does open has no way to hold it open, making it challenging to enter with multiple items. Moreover, the sidewalks leading to the entrance are crooked and cracked, making it even more difficult to navigate with a cart or items on wheels. It is also concerning for safety reasons, as someone could potentially trip and get hurt. I understand that the facility is well-maintained and the staff is wonderful, but the entrance on the back of the building is very disappointing. To be honest, if I wasn't in a hurry, I would have canceled my rental and looked for another facility with a more convenient entrance. I believe that the entrance should be a priority for any storage facility, as it is the first point of contact for customers and can greatly affect their overall experience. I hope that you will take my feedback into consideration and make improvements to the entrance of your facility. I value your services, but I cannot overlook the inconvenience and frustration caused by the current entrance situation. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing back from you and seeing improvements made to the entrance in the future.

Michelle j | Expérience généraleOf all the storage facilities in Evanston, U-Haul is number one, not least of which because they also have trucks on site ready to rent. The facility is clean,, secure and well maintained. They also have PLENTY of moving carts available (unlike other facilities I won't name). The only drawback is lack of parking. I don't have a car so that's not an issue - BUT - if you rent a truck and you're planning on meeting movers or helpers, you should be forewarned that you cannot park on Dempster or on the side street adjacent to U-Haul - so time your meetups accordingly or be prepared to park around the corner on Greenwood and wait. It would help if they had a few designated parking spots available.

Victor G | Premières impressionsI would not recommend this facility. The unit itself was fine, though it was very inconvenient to go up and down a flight of stairs while hauling heavy items. There is no parking in the lot, and staff were rude about us parking temporarily to check in. My partner and I had rented a truck to move the items out of my unit. We were unable to e-check in for our rental and had to go in to the office. Staff were more concerned with personal phone calls and conversations than trying to check in guests. The truck we were given had broken glass, a straight razor blade and various nails and screws in the back and on the ramp. The parking lot was littered with similar items and smelled strongly of vomit while picking up our truck. The mobile check out process for the actual unit was easy and convenient.

The gas gage was not accurate and I brought it to there attention. I was worried that I would be doubted and second guessed. It immediately acknowledged a d taken care of. I was almost disappointed because I had my argument prepared just in case. Wasn't necessary. They made it right instantly. It showed me that they care about their customers and their jobs. ALL OF THEM! I give my experience, 11 out of 10 stars. Now it's up you to give a raise. Lol thank you

I came to start unloading my storage unit and there are supposed to be 4 parking spaces available for paying customers, but those spaces were filled with trucks. I started to park on the opposite side and was told under no circumstance could I park there. When I questioned it I was told that I would have to park on the street. I'm partially handicapped I this was totally wrong. As a paying customer there always should be parking on the lot by the storage facility.

After getting over that, and no other choice for the remainder of my items things went smooth and the storage facility turned out to be one of the best places to have my things at. However, beware! Never get a unit without insurance. I lost valuables without any compensation. Purchase Insurance!!!!

But the manager there Adam and the assistant manager Trevor were absolutely awesome. I would go back to that store specifically just so I can deal with those two guys. Thumbs up to both of you.
