Mike LI was charged $14 for equipment that was not in my truck. The U-Haul associate said he would remove the fee but it was still there during checkout. I would like to request a refund AGAIN Secondly, the bed the truck had a lot of dust so I had to sweep it out.
Sandra MThis was my 2nd rental in 2 days, I showed up at the location after it closed (it has VERY limited hours), and all of the trucks were wide open, and none of them had dollies in them, and I had reserved one. Buying a dolly would've been more expensive than the entire truck rental. When I brought the truck back, I was told the dolly "should've been there," and asked if I checked all of the other trucks. First, I shouldn't have to do that, but second, it wasn't in one of them, either, and it's not my job to secure your equipment - if you leave them sitting open, it's your own fault if things get stolen. It also felt like moving it from another truck was just inconveniencing the next person, who also doesn't deserve that. I was offered a 0.20/mile discount. I only drove 8 miles total. I asked about the $50 guarantee and was told I'd have to go through corporate. The fine print says only the truck is part of that guarantee, not any of the equipment. It was INCREDIBLY inconvenient to do this without a dolly, it took twice as long, and I already have a back injury. If I had been actually moving my residence, it would've completely destroyed my entire plan, and I would've had no recourse. Not everyone has money to go buy a dolly, or friends to borrow from, that's why they pay to rent them. I actually needed the dolly more than the truck - one of my colleagues has a pickup truck, we could've made multiple trips in their truck, what we couldn't do is move the items we needed without a dolly. All I got for the inconvenience was a $1.60 discount on the mileage.
