As stated during our discussion, we vacated the storage unit on October 4, 2025, and had prepaid rent through December 2025. According to your posted rental policy: “Check-outs BEFORE the 5th pay ONE-HALF MONTH’S rent.” Despite this clearly stated policy, you have refused to refund the unused portion of our rental payment. This includes: Half of October's rent, since we vacated on the 4th Full rent for November Full rent for December We are not legally responsible for any rental fees beyond October 4, 2025, and your refusal to refund the unused rent is not only unethical but also likely in violation of Florida landlord-tenant statutes, including Florida Statute 83.49(3). 📌 Refund Breakdown: Month Paid Owed (Per Policy) Refund Due October 2025 $129.95 $64.98 $64.97 November 2025 $129.95 $0.00 $129.95 December 2025 $129.95 $0.00 $129.95 Total Refund Due $324.87 ⚖️ Legal & Military Protections As a military member, I am also protected under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA), which protects against improper financial penalties or retention of unearned payments. I loaded the truck, drove 6 hours (Saturday) to find out that the ONE person who can rent the room would not be back until Monday and the person that was up front was there to “babysit” the property. I start my new job Monday and had to return the truck by Sunday. Long story short, they lost my business and I ended up storing with Extra Space.
