I was scheduled to pickup the equipment at 8am. The location didn't open until 10am. I tried to do a self checkin and retrieve the keys from the lock box but was told this was a counter only transaction. So I had to wait 2 hours for the business to open.

1. Any business that rents out U-Haul vehicles should be required to provide off-street customer parking. During the time that we are renting a truck, we should be able to park a car. We were denied this, and had to park overnight on a street near the facility. 2. Customer who don't own, or choose not to carry cell phones, or prefer to make transactions without a cell phone should be given that option. This should be a guaranteed option for any potential customer who makes a transaction during the business hours of the organization renting out a truck. This is a bare minimum requirement for the most basic customer service. I came without a cell phone and was not offered any option of conducting my transaction without a cell phone. 3. Customers who have offered credit-card information as a guarantee should be able to pay cash if they choose to do so. If the participating business is concerned about the security risk of having to much cash on hand, there could be a limit on the amount for such transactions, for example, $150.00. The total amount for our one-day truck rental was about $70, and we were doing this for a friend who preferred to pay in cash. Having to pay with our card annoyed and unnecessarily complicated things for both us and our friend. If basic customer service is impossible in these arrangements/contracts you have with separate businesses, then you should set up actual brick-and-mortar U-Haul retail rental centers in the cities and towns where you wish to do business especially in a town like ours with about 35,000 people. Besides being able to guarantee a standard of service, you would contribute to the community supports you with its business by supporting its people by providing some jobs. I rated this location as "average" instead of "below average" or "poor" because I was concerned that the people running the local location would be blamed, and I think the bulk of the responsibility for the problems noted above lies with U-Haul, not "Tavo Tax." These people seem, for the most part, perfectly friendly, responsible folks working with the protocols given to them by U-Haul. I doubt that their policies contradicted U-Haul's, and if I am wrong they bear some responsibility, but only to the degree that I am wrong.
