Sharon VThe first truck I tried to rent had numerous issues. The bed had what looked like asphalt tracked throughout it and was still sticky. The windshield was cracked. The suspension was so bad that driving down a section of new highway, which was smooth, my coffee cup was being rattled out of the cup holder. The check engine light was on and wide not turn off even after driving it a bit. And to top it off the cab smelled of a mix between feces, body odor, and cat urine. When I called about the check engine light I was told that I needed a new truck, and after several incorrect transfers, I finally got to someone in Traverse City, MI, (I was in Kalamazoo, MI) that said he couldn’t help but he would notify the Lansing office and they would send a replacement and call me right away (probably would take 5 minutes). After 40 minutes, I called to see where the truck was and was treated very hostilely by the lady on the phone who told me they would not send a truck and if I had a problem I had to travel several miles through busy narrow streets to exchange the truck myself. Needless to say I had to since that was my only option, but I have never had such a horrible experience renting from U-Haul before and probably will not again since I have yet to even get a “sorry” let alone hear back on my complaints.
