I ordered 6 furniture pads and an appliance dolly - neither of which were in the truck. Seeing as how this was an order I did via smart phone, there was nobody there to remedy the situation when I went to pick the truck up. I needed both of these items in order to complete my move. The absence of these items made my task significantly more difficult.

I did the Sunday check-in through the app. The steps on the app were incorrect when locating the truck #, it told me to look at the bottom of the truck, when they were on top, so it took me forever to find the correct truck. It took them 20+ minutes to verify my photo through the app. The key was in the wrong lock box, so I had to call the number given for that location and that took an additional 5-10 mins. Then when I finally did find the truck, it had sunflower seeds all in the front, a hair clip, & someone's glasses. It was not a pleasant experience overall and I was pretty disappointed/dissatisfied with the whole process. I usually rent Penske, so this kind of put the nail in the coffin for U-Haul if I'm being honest.

I didn't have a problem with this location specifically, but your customer service in general. I reserved a one-way 10-ft truck rental from the E. Riverside, Austin, TX, location. I was driving in that morning from Houston. I called that morning, and was told that my location had been changed to a North Austin location, so we amended our route to Austin to come in at the north of the city (290 vs 71). I then got a call 30 minutes before we were due to pick it up saying that the pick up location was changed again to a SOUTH Austin location, 30 minutes back through the city, and that there were no 10-ft trucks available, only 20. When I got to the new pick up location, he said he didn't do one-way rentals and the truck would have to be returned there. He eventually figured it out, but it was a headache and the height of miscommunication all around. I guess if you have a monopoly on the moving truck rental market, your customer service can be as crappy as you want it to be!

Do not allow for later pick up time at location than when the location is open. Put down online that I wanted to pick up truck at 7pm, and online said it was fine, but location closed at 5:30pm.

The mobile pick up process is pointless if you have to get a physical key from a human who takes you through it again. Waste of time

The site/system for UHAUL seemed to go down while I was attempting to pick-up my equipment. Better tech support and system maintenance would lead to a better customer experience. The location was ready for me, my equipment was ready, the only hold up was the processing of my pick-up. It turned probable 5 min. experience into one that stretched 20 minutes. The pick-up location personnel we more than apologetic to me and handled the situation the best they could given the circumstances. Staff member was very helpful and organized with the rental, calling me the day prior to confirm details, and provide further instructions. Overall pleased with experience.

What I found frustrating was the extra time it took to check in via the website. I usually just take a picture of myself and drivers license and that's it. It was early in the morning and the added step of having to provide a contact person they could call before I was able to complete the check off really put me behind schedule as I waited for someone to answer their phones (keep in mind it was early and no one likes to answer the phone when they don't recognize the number despite my texting them and telling them to answer their phone). Even more frustrating was the check in process in regards to refueling my vehicle. When I get a paper contract I usually get a document showing where the fuel gauge was when I picked up the truck and how many gallons I would need to put in in order to reach that level based on where the gauge was after putting that mileage on it. I did not have that paper and I could not locate it online on my dashboard anywhere. I also checked my email and I had a copy of the contract but it was just the legal verbiage and not the fuel indicator. So while waiting at the pump of the gas station I called UHaul and it was 8 minutes before I could get a hold of someone to let me know that info. I work for a school and I use these truck often to move equipment so I budget my time so that I do not miss instructional time with my students and I also don't want to overburden are stakeholders (the taxpayers) unnecessarily by wasting their money on extra gas because I either a) went over what I checked out with or b) was short and got charged extra for. This alone makes me not want to use the online check in option anymore unless I really really have to (as in this case where the store was not open when I needed to pick up that truck)

When we drove the truck down I-35 we were scared the box was going to fall off, it was making so many hideous sounds. The transmission seemed to need work and the cab smelled like something had died in it. The fuel line was marked at 1/4 tank even though it was only 1/8 full. When I mentioned this to the guy at the register he opened it and handed me $15 to compensate. That wasn't enough for a truck this size but I was in a hurry so I took it and left. So, to recap, terrible, smelly truck and rotten service.
