On October 27, 2025, UHaul sent me an email for a 20' truck with a car trailer using the word 'guaranteed'. The day before, a call came to me stating that only a 26' truck was available! I specifically wished to avoid such a large truck because of my destination. The team helping us move was already on their way, so it was too late to change things. Additionally, the drop off location was near impossible to locate because the address supplied is radically incorrect. Waste of time does not begin to describe my feelings on the matter and then, the link supplied to pay the fuel differential, which I dispute, failed again, just like the link given when I picked up the truck. So, I couldn't pay the fee. The bait and switch on the truck size resulted in greater difficulty on the trip and at the final destination. What the word 'guaranteed' means to me is substantially different from UHaul's use of the word. Not to mention how the excess space created a loading and packing the challenge for the 1,200 mile trip. This was an unsatisfactory experience in total and there's no telling what the fuel differential would have been with the 20' 'guaranteed' truck. Regardless, it was necessary for me to go to a McDonald's to get online for this response. Next will be my attempt to pay the fuel charge which amazes me. Having an extra day to return the oversized beast supplied to me does nothing to assuage my disappointment with this entire episode. Next move, the reservation will go with Two Men and a Truck!
JOHN SMy drop off experience was A plus Mitch explained and showed us how to get the car off the dolly. This does not excuse U-Haul for their poor service I got during the move.
