Great flexibility on our move in day, no hidden fees
Check in and out was fast and easy. Reserving the van on line was easy also. Emily was very friendly to with with too.
Nothing to improve at the moment. The staff are wonderful. However, due to the location of this facility, many non-local drivers do not know how to pull in and exit the facility safely. I would highly encourage handing out a safety sheet on the safe ways of exiting this location. Otherwise, please have a wonderful new year and thank you for a great service. I will be using you again soon, for our next home improvement project ;-)
I signed the contract for a trailer rental, we went outside to connect the trailer and I decided to get a smaller one that was supposed to be $10 cheaper, the attendant said that he would change the contract and e-mail the receipt. I still got charged the higher price.
Customer service was outstanding!
I was impressed with the site and the manager I worked with. I don't remember his name but a true professional. He checked me in completed the return. I would recommend to a friend for sure.

prices are miss leading ,but had no choice . Per mile price seemed to high . Again no choice . For that reason ,would not recommend to friends .Staff very professional .!!!

The 2 fellow running the place are very good! Customer service oriented. Nice Guys. The vehicle I rented was a 17 foot truck. It was very, very old. It had 160,000 miles. It is a "beater". This truck should not be rented out any more. I had trouble closing the cab doors. When I rent a truck I am looking for something much newer. The truck is obsolete and not something that reflects good on UHAUL. Mark
On 11/19/2020 I reserved a 15 ft truck for pickup on 11/22/2020 in Crystal Lake, IL for a one way trip to Victor, NY. The day before my original pickup, I was contacted by Uhaul and my pickup location was changed to Fox Lake because of vehicle availability which was inconvenient, but understandable because I was told this reservation was now guaranteed. The next day, I was on my way to pickup the vehicle in Fox Lake, when I received another call from Brenda from the Crystal Lake location (less than an hour before my reserved pickup time) to inform me that they were unable to provide the vehicle I had requested at that location. Brenda was extremely unsympathetic and unwilling to take accountability for the situation and she told me that this wasn't Uhaul's fault or problem and that my only option was to drive to a location in Wisconsin or settle for a smaller truck with no reimbursement for my inconvenience. When I attempted to escalate the call to a manager, she told me she was the manager and that there was nothing she could do. Since I needed a vehicle that day, I had no options but to pickup a 10 ft truck in Palatine (which was in the opposite direction of Fox Lake). While on the way, I spent over an hour on the phone being transferred between 4 different uhaul associate because Brenda was not helpful or professional. At one point, I was connected with an associate at the Green Bay store who told me she had no clue how we had gotten connected, however she was able to issue my $50 reservation guarantee credit. I then spoke with someone in Phoenix named Jeff who was understanding and helpful and he connected me with a corporate manager named Janis who agreed to issue me an additional $50 VIP certificate for the time and gas that was wasted, and because of the inconvenience of not being provided the correct truck size. She explained that I could use that certificate towards the cost of this reservation and she also said I would be contacted by email by a regional manager sometime in the next couple days (which never happened). While at the Palatine store, the 2 store associates were much kinder and sympathetic and they both agreed that the situation was not handled correctly by Uhaul. However, they were unable to get the $50 certificate to process and they were unable to find a solution and made me wait while they were on hold for over an hour with Brenda and corporate. After a long wait, I was contacted by a Donna from corporate regarding the certificate and she was extremely rude and incompetent. She told me that she believed I shouldn't have received another certificate and that there was nothing she could do to help because the VIP certificates take 24 hours to activate. When I asked for proof that I actually was issued a certificate she told me "I just have to believe her" and that she couldn't confirm the certificate #. I was then told by her and the Palatine associate, that I had to return to a Uhaul store after 24 hours in order to use the certificate on this reservation. I finally was provided a truck after spending more than 2 hours in the Palatine store with no reimbursement and a smaller truck than I needed for my move. This resulted in me losing 3 hours of packing time and I was unable to fit everything that I needed to move. I returned the truck at the Victor Uhaul on 11/24/2020 with the expectation that they'd be able to process my $50 VIP certificate or at least provide a $50 credit, but the store associate (Mackenzie) was unable even after speaking with multiple managers. She told me that this wasn't her store's fault and that I needed to return to the Crystal Lake store or the Palatine store for an answer despite now being 4 states away in New York. Furthermore, she gave me a hard time about not returning $10 worth of moving blankets at their location (even though I had a family member return them for us at the Crystal Lake location and they were told we wouldn't have an issue). Mackenzie told me her store was already losing $10 from not receiving the blankets and that I was lucky they were accommodating that. This resulted in another hour of my time being wasted in a Uhaul store with no accountability or reimbursement that I was promised. The only answer she had was that I could use the certificate towards another Uhaul reservation which is not what I was told when it was issued. Overall, this was the worst customer experience that I have ever had. I will never use Uhaul again and going forward I will guarantee that none of my friends, family, or clients use your services as well. I was told multiple times by Uhaul associates "that this wasn't their fault or problem" and there was zero accountability across the board. Now I am having to figure out another way to move the rest of my stuff across the country and I am left with no reimbursement and a useless certificate.
I noticed the tires on this unit were worn, cracked and split in the center, with plenty of obvious wear. According to my tire tread depth gauge, each tire only had a maximum of 2/32nd's. How could any rental facility rent a vehicle with unsafe tires. Get this unit up to 55 mph plus, the heat developed from rotational forces and friction will cause the tires to blow. Very unsafe.
I found both the pick-up and return customer service reps to be very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable.

was told the vehicle is at full tank before handing it over to me. I used only 13 miles and while on return when I tried to fill the tank, it filled 5.2 gallons. I don't believe 13 miles drive would have used 5.2 gallons. I have the reciept of gas for proof. It would have been better if they would have filled the tank before instead of lying to customer
