This truck was brand new. It drove like a van and worked like a truck, exactly as advertised. It was a very successful move, and the cruise control made the 4 hour trip as smooth as possible. The cab was very comfortable, and I found great value for this move. I honestly have no suggestions for improvement because this was one of the best moving experiences I’ve ever had, and I’m 59 years old.
JEFFREY MI was not from the area and I was about 6-7 hours from Northern California and needed a tow dolly. The matter was urgent and I contacted U-Haul who arranged a reservation for me. I was dispatched by the U-Haul Representative Cory (another issue, price issue) through a desert to this place (Saddleback Ace Hardware) when I initially requested SpeedWash U-Haul in the nearest vicinity, in-town of Palmdale. As I begin following Google Maps direction, it has dawn to me that location is 40 mins one way going through a hot desert. I arrived on time for my reservation and the U-Haul staff were actually ACE Hardware staff. It was clear the owner took the U-Haul as a double business opportunity but failed to trained their staff. The poor ACE Hardware staff was clearly showing signs of difficulty navigating the registration process as it is not a routine duty. This is clearly NOT the staff fault but upon the upper management failure. A young male ACE Hardware staff was tasked to prepare the Tow-Dolly as I was completing registration and transaction. However, I noticed poor young staff was still out there for a while. Upon completion, I headed out to retrieve the dolly but was told it is locked at the tow hitch, an anti-theft security mechanism was attached, which they do not have the key for and it was at a home of another staff. So, we had to wait the individual to bring the key from home to unlock the device. I had to make some personal adjustments on my hitch to turn it upside down because my ball hitch was too high for the dolly, but it took my own personal 5 mins. However, it was then next to secure the dolly to my ball hitch, and it was clear the staff had "zero" training. Ethically and professionally, I took this to matters to self and decided to train him and explain the process of each hook-up; from cable, to light hookup, to trailer breakaway safety cable. Once secured, I walked him through a final check process checking the straps. During the process, we learned the passenger side strap tie-downs were missing a bracket to holds the straps at the point of the "Y" section. Since it was at ACE hardware, the issue seems fixable with some basic hardware remedy. I asked the young staff to radio his supervisor in charge that we needed some hardware to fix the matter temporarily. At the moment, it seemed the the request was decline. I explained to the young staff the safety hazard should the strap flop around during transit, it may spool into the wheel base, causing a disaster. Once that was explained, the young staff went back into the store looking for a remedy. I assisted and found a quick fix. I was glad to teach the staff as he got On-the Job training, but I wish U-haul prepared these staff. Since, it was a long process, I mistakenly forgot to include a brake, signal light check for the young fellow. I pulled over about ¼ mile after leaving the place and conducted a light check. Driving back I noticed the dolly was very hoppy, the very next morning I had check the tire pressure at the gas station and it near 70 PSI. I adjusted the tire pressure and the dolly was better. In conclusion, a horrible experience, staff need training.
Sou SYour online booking agent was trying to make it difficult for me by sending me to further location that I anticipated, I had to disregard all of his input and do it my way, it worked but honestly why is my initial booking was changed to different location (20 min drive)? As if equipment booked was unavailable - which is complete nonsense.
Vadim AThe way you guys do an estimate is not fair😱,I had to wait for the truck because they only had the one truck I paid for one-way I was told to bring it back and I was charged for both ways instead of one which is not fair in my opinion I was ripped off and should be compensated!? Thank you sincerely an unhappy customer 😡
