I tried calling this location at least 5 times the morning of truck return to verify office hours with no answer. On the 5th call, the phone transferred to a corporate operator who verified office hours and OKd the drop off. Upon arrival at the Lombard location, the attendant (Alesha) was rude, short, and less than helpful. Five minutes after leaving the office, Alesha called me saying that she had no record of the drop off authorization. She then threatened me with additional charges and fees if I didn’t return and pick the truck back up. She was unwilling to quote me the additional fees and simply told me to call her manager. As I was driving, I was unable to take down the manager’s number and asked her to text it to me which never happened. Upon calling corporate again, they assured me their would be no fees. The attendant at the location needs counseled in customer service and public interaction. I will not be using this location again and will certainly not recommend it.

Matt, general manager, was very helpful and was willing to listen to my concerns about the billing for my rental. He remedied the issue, which I greatly appreciate. I cannot say the same for the other staff, which I cannot remember their names. The rating for this location would be higher if more employees were helpful and attentive to details like the general manager. The truck showed areas of damage, none of which made the vehicle unusable. The return process, was frustrating. No employees were initially present when I returned the vehicle. Finally, someone came to the front desk from the back area after a 20min wait. This employee was not helpful, and specifically discouraged me from walking the vehicle for inspection with them. They repeatedly said "goodnight sir" when I asked to walk with them or if there was anything else they needed from me. An unwarranted charge was placed on my final bill for the use of the dolly, when I and the other person went out of our way to avoid the dolly or break the zip-tie around it. We were still charged. I sent two emails regarding the issue that were not returned. When I called the store initially to address the issue, the employee was not helpful beyond stating that she would have the GM return my call in about 45min. After waiting over 2hrs I decided to call back. I was able to get Matt and have a very helpful conversation with him. I would only recommend this location due to the service provided by Matt.

The system for turning in a vehicle after hours has changed since the last time I did that, not for the better. The site did not recognize my password, there was no info about specifics in print info I had, and it is all totally dependent on smartphone technology. Fortunately I was able to reach someone by phone, but I don't think it's an improvement as far as customer experience.

I walked in and the associated on duty kept sweeping until she was done until saying hello to me and asking what I needed help with. Then it took two people to figure out the truck that was assigned to me incorrectly. I did use the truck longer than expected because of the delay and traffic, which they were nice about when I called. I did not receive a receipt or email with my final bill amount vs. what was quoted/initially expected for the rental fee amount.

First off the amount of gas they claimed was in the truck was a quarter tank lower. The miles they claimed it started at when I received the truck was 4 miles less then what it actually was. And when I put the $8 in to cover the 16 miles I only drove(confirmed by uhaul employee at return) the gauge went up but past half tank but the employee just counted it as half tank. So basically I got charged $20 extra plus the $10 I paid for gas having the truck for less then two hours and driving it 16 miles...total was $52 bucks! Total rip off. They scam you so look at everything brocade they do this in hopes you don’t notice. So much for being honest...scammers!

I found roaches in the truck I was using and the staff including manager reported to me that they have NEVER seen this before and wasn't trying to swap out trucks for free. After I wasted a full hour of my time driving to my destination they wanted me to return the truck at the same time we discussed when I first rented it instead of giving me the hour I wasted having to return it. Their customer service was terrible and the manager was even worse!!

Took forever to get our truck and when we got to the location to move we open the back door and see that they didn’t give us a furniture dolly that we ordered.

I used the web-based reservation system and found it better than waiting for an employee to do the same thing, but it's clearly a job for an app as opposed to a website. That said, minimal interaction with the staff was my goal, and it did accomplish that task for me. Waiting in line literally just to show them my phone and take the key took 20 minutes.

I was made to feel utterly obliged to fill their vehicle to a half tank. They will make you sign a contract about a half tank. They gave me a truck with nowhere near close to a half tank. I filled the truck more than what I was given - though just under the half tank yet the needle was still touching the half way line. They charged me an additional $14.25. Nonsense.

Customer service here is some of the worst I have experienced in a long time. No one acknowledged me when I came in and I had to interrupt the lady behind the counter while she was on her cell phone. Several areas of the vehicle were damaged, particularly a huge dent on the front bumper that was not marked by the company. Later, when I returned the vehicle the same lady was chatting with a friend and told me it would be at least 5 minutes to get checked out. The store manager came by me and asked if I needed help. We both found the lady "inspecting the vehicle" all the way across the parking lot smoking a cig with her friend. Incredibly, she asked what I was still doing there! "Waiting for you!" I replied. I will never, ever come back to this place again. Fuck U-Haul!
