Cab reeked of cigarette smoke. Back had not been swept out. Otherwise the vehicle itself was in excellent shape mechanically, and the staff were friendly. Sounds like a problem with the prior renter and subsequent clean up.

I got double charged because my moving out/in activities got delayed due to a faulty furniture dolly I rented from this facility. One caster on the dolly wasn’t rolling properly and because of that most of the furniture was load/unload without any equipment. I tried to explain that to the store representative but he said there is nothing he could do. Definitely an unpleasant experience I would not recomend to friends and relatives.

I was told I had to give someone else's name and phone number in addition to mine to rent the truck. I pulled up the rental policy and showed that although that's one way to show assurance, it's not the only method and that I've showed a credit card, license, and phone number which are acceptable and enough forms to rent the truck. It's illegal to require someone else's information unrelated from the renter in the state of Massachusetts. Also the horn on the truck didn't work which is very dangerous. It's illegal to drive on the highway without a horn in Massachusetts

I made a reservation for saturday at 10am and when i arrived at 10:15am, they told me the reservation was cancelled because i was suppose to pick up the van at 7am. This is not correct because I made the online reservation for 10am. There was no truck or van available for me on Saturday. I asked if they had anything for sunday and they did have a pick up truck available on Sunday morning at 9:15am for 5 hours. So i took that reservation and when I arrived on Sunday at 9:30am to pick up my truck, there was a long, show line inside with only one person working. After almost an hour waiting in line to pick up my truck, I was charged for the collision ($10) which I did not want and told the gentleman working I wanted to "not take it". the computer was not working and it wad very slow. He ended up doing the transaction again without the screen showing me the breakdown and I was charged the additional $10 in error. I did mention that the price was higher but he told me they would adjust it at the end when I bring the truck back. Long story short, I was charged the additional $10 for collision coverage which I did not want or agree to. After using the truck for a few hours I returned it and received the email with the $10 charge on my bill. I did send the store and email on Sunday afternoon and have not heard back from them. So to improved customer service I would recommend getting back to your customer. And I should be credited back for the $10 and they should have two people working on sunday morning for the morning rush. thank you

Widen your space. It always looks so crowded at 438 Quincy Ave. It is VERY convenient, but there always appears to not be any room to pull in and there is a wicked pot hole at the exit onto Quincy Ave that needs to be repaired.

Update vehicle and don’t lend any out that have maintenance needs. There were two lights on on the dashboard which makes someone paranoud when driving. The vehicle also had a strained sound it made the whole time which added to the fears that something was wrong withnit. Credit card machine wasn’t working and it appeared that I got charged three times. The check-in procedure is antiquated and parts of it feel unnecessary. Took longer than it should have.

I came here to pick up my 15feet truck along with the applicance dolly that I had reserved but the owner of the place, Mr. Philip McGonale was outright rude! I asked him what are my options if I have to return the truck at another location in Boston, what would the cost be. Rather than answering the question he tell me,”some of the truck are owned by uhaul and others by me, so I need to to bring it back to me” I wasn’t going to runaway with the truck but since there was an option to return at another location I wanted to see what are my options. Anyways then he printed my contract and had me take it, when I asked him where is the dolly that I reserved, he says I don’t have it. And I was like when did he plan on telling me that. He said I don’t have it.. this is what you signed for.. I was like then but I reserved the truck with the dolly, he says I don’t have it... all of them got stolen last night! This is what you get, take it and leave..he was mean, rude and there is no one else to blame but him being the owner, if that’s how you treat your customer I am sorry, that’s very wrong! Moving is anyways stressful and if I am doing a 15feet truck it means I have quite some stuff to move.. not to mention the time I wasted asking him if I could get one from somewhere since it being a Saturday! Anyways I left the place and then had to wander around Home Depot to find a rental for a dolly! Thankfully after going around for 45mins and 2 Home Depot, i did find one! With all this fiasco going around, I had a reservation at the new place to be there by 11.30am to move sadly I lost that reservation and had to wait until 1:30pm for me to reserve the freight elevator since they had some one else using it.. which didn’t only caused me frustration but also money to extend the truck rental by 2hours. I am sorry to say, but this has been the worst customer service I have received and the owner needs to know how to speak and atleast be considerate of people, as moving by itself is a big task and Stressful and if he doesn’t like what he is doing may be he should find something else to do!

The information we gave to the employee to put in the computer did not stick so we had to repeat it all on moving day. Our truck was behind another truck so it could be moved out of the lot. We were on a time constraint so these two obstacles were a bit annoying.

Inexcusable mistake on the mileage count. Wasted my time because I had to come back to dispute the 200+ mileage discrepancy that I was billed for. I was traveling locally and returned the van in a couple of hours, and I was charged for using the cargo van for over 200+ mileage, which is impossible. The error suggested that somebody who worked at the site didn’t record the actual mileage accurately. Lazy work.

Customer service was excellent. Needed to change the time of my pickup and this was handled smoothly by phone. Only complaint was bad odor inside of van. Smelt like stale cigar odor.

Drop off location was over 45 minutes away. There was a Uhaul location right around the corner from where I unloaded my trailer. I called the 800 # and I was unable to change my drop off location to a more convenient place. I was very disappointed by this.

The truck was not on a 1/2 a tank as indicated and the truck had someone else's food in from the night before. We did speak with Phil and he apologized. Phil was very easy to deal with.
