I originally signed up for 24/7 truck share at a different location to pick up at 8am. When I arrived the app did not allow me to pick up and I was going to have to wait an hour for when the location opened. When I called they said it was never set up for 24/7 but that I what I signed up for and it said on my app order details. Which made me drive to another location for another truck. Our agency has used this location for many years now, and this was the worst check in experience by far. Our reservation was for 8am. We got there at 755am and did not get to check in until 0830 and then could not locate our truck until almost 840am putting the schedule far behind. Private movers had been hired and were waiting and the clerk had much difficulty navigating the system and telling us where to even locate the truck. The truck only had 1/4 tank of gas when we received it. This seemed like a new employee who was struggling OR an employee who just was not concerned with customer service.JAMESLEE W.
The person that helped me was inept. I understand having problems, however, this was past just being new or computer issues. It took over and HOUR to get a trailer to rent. There was NO ONE in front of me. There was a woman working there too that did nothing to assist him. He had to call someone on the phone, point his phone camera to the monitor and walk him through the process... Which he had to do 4 times. He asked my name at least 10 times... WRITE IT DOWN if you can't remember ANYTHING. I will NEVER rent another u-haul from this location there are plenty of others to choose from.RECECCAMARIE D.
Absolutely horrible customer service. I dropped the truck off at 8:40pm Friday and it wasn't due back til Saturday at 10:30 am. The key was in the box. GOT CHARGED FOR an extra day and called and spoke with Michael I believe he said was his name. He told me to call the 1-800 number. After 20 minutes on hold I hung up. Tried the online chat feature and no one ever showed up to chat with me. Salem Turnpike location in Roanoke, VA has Zero customer service. Very poor. Should just shut the place down.VIRGINIALEIGH W.
Clean your trucks out more thoroughly. I found an empty beer bottle in the center console of the van I rented. In the past, my dad and others have found cigarette butts and other debris in the trucks. The trucks run well and the service at the various sites has been great, but I think an extra ten minutes cleaning out a vehicle would go a long way.PEYTONMCCARTY Y.

I went to 3 different u-haul rental places. First one I waited over 1 hr no one helped me. Second I went the man could not even use the computer to see what they had to use. Third one I go into to reserve the truck they told me they had it. I go to pick it up two days later they tell me that they don't have the truck. I go to a fourth location the one on the Salem turnpike in Roanoke they have the truck I'm in and out less than 10 minutes. Uhaul advertises a 5X9 trailer to transport a motorcycle. Some of these trailers do not have a wheel chock, which is an absolute necessity. It is also extremely dangerous. Additionally there are no tie down rings for the rear. Uhaul attempts to get around this by advertising that "many of our trailers have the chocks" However that is a legal fine print tactic to escape liability. In my case I was given one of these trailers. When I discovered the problem I attempted to call Uhaul at the local number. Apparently the call either goes to a center or no one answers at the local number. So much for customer service. At any rate after 5 minutes of listening to a recording telling me how important my call was, I realized no one was going to answer. I gave up. Having no choice, I attempted to chock the wheel myself, and tie the rear straps to the side bars of the trailer. While on I_75 in heavy traffic the front wheel slipped and the front straps became loose. The rear straps held. The bike swayed back and forth causing the trailer to also dangerously sway. I was able to control the problem until I could get on the shoulder. An extremely bad situation with a loose motorcycle in heavy high speed traffic, and then trying to repair the problem on the shoulder of a busy Interstate. It is only a matter of time that rental of these unsafe "motorcycle" trailers will result in a serious accident, if in fact, it has not already happened. This comment, may or may not be published, even though Uhaul says it will be, is to warn customers and put Uhaul on notice.thomas K.
Better direct customer dialogue. Every conversation and communication shouldnt be electronic. Why was I billed an additional $40.00 on my credit card account without prior notice, as in when vehicle was returned? I will be calling on Monday, Nov. 2,2020 to discuss this issue further. On the grounds that I wasn't advised, I will probably dispute the additional charge as I called in advance to advise of the late return and inquired then of additional charges. Nobody was present at the office when we went to return the equipment. We had to leave the equipment and trust them to bill us correctly. We then received the receipt by email and found we were charged for 3 appliance dollies (which we did not request or use - it was found in the back not attached to the wall when we opened the truck), we were charged for 3 sets of furniture pads (there were only 2 packs of them in the truck and we only opened one set), and for 3 furniture dollies (we never detached it from the wall)! Very dishonest way to treat a customer. We should be owed a refund of $71.Malyna S.

Another positive experience at turn in in Roanoke. The guy who was working came right out and went over the truck immediately. He told me their were no extra charges and thanked me for my business. I have used U-haul probably more than a dozen times and this was the easiest time ever, both at pickup and drop off. It was also a newer truck and was very clean.DANAELIZABETH G.
