1) Have the truck completely filled with gas instead of 5/8 of a tank. We had to drive about 5-7 miles to get it filled, and that threw off the "mileage allotment" for our trip. And, it's much easier (and the traditional way to do it) to refill after starting with a full tank, as it's mostly a guessing game to fill from the 5/8 tank position, which ensures that most people will fill the truck with extra gasoline to be safe and not incur extra charges (more expense to the customer, not to mention the time and mileage to drive and obtain gas at the start of the trip). 2) If Uhaul want to impose a mileage allotment, please compute the mileage and add another 10-15% miles available. We had a $3 fee for gasoline at the drop off location due to being 3 miles over our allotment.

Neil WWhile the truck was in good condition overall, it is an aging truck. We had an issue with the key becoming stuck in the ignition. It just wouldn’t turn no matter what we did. We had to call for roadside assistance. Luckily, we did manage to juggle the key loose and canceled the assistance.
