I would not recommend ever. The person there was not properlytrained.

Jayson JI needed to extend my rental a few times, which was easily done using the app. Prior to returning the vehicle, I noticed that the mileage was more than I had originally budgeted for. I contacted U-Haul directly and they set up a promissory note for me to help me pay for the mileage, while not charging my original card. Upon returning the vehicle, I explained to the woman checking me in about the promissory note and explained that she was not to charge my card. She stated that she saw the promissory note on the account, and said that she had me down as returning the vehicle on time, but had to check with the manager who was due in later to finish the paperwork, since she wasn't sure how to close it out with a promissory note. I called U-Haul several hours later to complete the terms of the promissory note, only to discover that the vehicle was still listed as not returned, and in fact, overdue. I was told to contact the store and have them mark it as returned before we could proceed with the promissory note. I contacted the store and after speaking with the woman who helped me earlier, a man got on the phone (I'm assuming the manager)and snapped at me "why are you calling here if you're not going to pay me?" I explained that I had completed the return many hours ago and needed to to be logged in so that I could complete the promissory note with U-Haul... He yelled at me about "keeping the truck for almost a month"... and "I have to get my district manager to thoroughly inspect the truck before I can complete the return". I contacted U-Haul again about this exchange. U-Haul called the store only to be told by the manager that he was there all morning by himself, and had to call someone in to help him cover the store so that he could complete my return. Ironically, he wasn't there earlier. In fact, the woman helping me in the store said that he was due in about two hours later (when I was there making the return). She may have been there by herself, but he wasn't even in the building. That's not to mention that since she was already there working, he DID NOT CALL HER IN TO COVER THE STORE SO THAT HE COULD COMPLETE MY RETURN. Shortly after that phone call with U-Haul, I received an alert on my phone that my card was (attempted to be) run- by the store- for the final payment including what was already included on the promissory note. They were instructed by me and U-Haul not to attempt to charge my card since I had a promissory note! How terrible a mess could that blatant action caused to my bank account if that card was attached to a checking account with pending transactions on it. He could've overdrawn my account and created many additional fees for me, not to mention damage to my credit. He lied to me and U-Haul about why my vehicle wasn't confirmed as returned on time. He intentionally used my card unauthorized by me, to process a payment that was already included in a promissory note with U-Haul. I believe that is credit card fraud, or attempted fraud at the very least.
