To Whom it May Concern – On August 12, 2018, my husband and I picked up a U-Haul from 4831 SE Powell Blvd. in Portland, OR. We completed an inspection of the vehicle with Tyson Pfau. The contract number is 22696102. Tyson came out and completed an inspection of the U-Haul with my husband. However, Tyson did not look under the U-Haul or check to see if the fuel line was intact. When we got the car, it had about half a tank of gas. We drove the truck to Eugene, got it unpacked, and went to return the vehicle. When we stopped to put fuel in the vehicle, it started spraying everywhere. The gas station attendant looked under the vehicle and informed us it was clear that the fuel line had been cut. Luckily, we were close to the drop off spot so we drove it there and called U-Haul Roadside. At this point, the car began to smoke and fume. Roadside told us it was critical not to get back inside the car. Unfortunately, the drop off location we were scheduled to drop off at doesn’t take keys after hours. Consequently, they asked us to come back in the morning and drop off the keys. Roadside asked us where the car was. We told them exactly. They said to leave it there, again stressing the importance of not moving the car. The drop off location was 1796 Willamette in Eugene. The next morning, we were exhausted from moving. Nonetheless, I started getting strange calls coming in at 6:52 am. The caller left no message. I got another call from the same number at 7:11 am. This time, he left a message. The message says, “yes message is for Aaron Read, Aaron the U-Haul you dropped off has our car wash exit blocked I can’t open that up until its moved it costs $100 an hour to have that car wash down if I don’t hear from you by 8 am I will call a locksmith and have them make a key for that truck, have it moved, and you will be responsible for that as well.” He didn’t call in his U-Haul capacity. He called from his cell. That number is (541) 844-8410. Though U-Haul calls are recorded per a corporate representative, the corporate representative said it is common that their employees will call from their cells to get around having them recorded. My husband called the man back immediately and tried to explain what happened with the fuel line. He explained Roadside had urged us not get back in the vehicle because it could explode at any moment. The man said he didn’t care. He said we needed to come move it now and hung up on us. We rushed there and gave him the key. The U-Haul was hardly blocking the man’s car wash. At that time, contrary to what we had already been advised by Roadside and customer service, he told us he would be charging us $40 for not putting fuel in the tank, charging us for the fuel line, and the whole cost of the U-Haul. Then, he asked my husband to get in the car and move it. He refused, unwilling to risk his life for U-Haul. The man got in the car and moved it himself. He didn’t apologize for our inconvenience. Instead, he screamed at

The young man at this location was very rude. I was told that I would be charged extra for cleaning even though I had swept the unit. I was also overcharged for mileage. Setac to belfair washington = 61miles Belfair washington to Cottage Grove = 280 miles, Cottage Grove to Eugene =18 miles. Total of 359miles not 1039 miles. Either the odometer is incorrect or Uhaul is scamming its customers. I won't return.

I was charge $10.00 in addition to my rental agreement/receipt. This mysteriously showed up on my credit card statement. I do not have a receipt from U-Haul, nor is this listed on the on-site receipt, or internet receipt I received. Very deceitful business practice.

The man who processed the rental was very rude. I remember a previous interaction with him where he was similarly extremely rude (in the past I booked something like a noon booking online then called to change it to 5 pm which they were fine with, when i showed up he refused to re-print the contract--the one he gave me still had the noon rental return time for the 24 hour rental-- he said it would be fine though I was hesitant I didn't have an option) When I returned it within 24 hors the next day close to 5 pm that SAME worker was adamant on charging me for 2 days because the contract said noon. He said I should read contracts, when I reminded him that he refused to print a new one, he was increasingly rude. I ended up having to call Uhaul customer service while there and he took my phone and talked to the agent for almost 20 minutes before being told that he shouldn't charge me for 2 days. It was horrible service and a horrible experience, which he of course offered no apology for. I am surprised that he still works there. It made my skin crawl to interest with his smug weasel face again, i couldn't wait to leave, which was prolonged because he continually failed to check me out correctly. Will most likely be switching to another company

The was a homeless person living in the van right before we picked it up so the entire thing smelled horrible and was filled with trash, cigarettes, and rotting food and clothes. I also reserved the van and did the phone checkout to speed the process up and they told me I wasn’t in the system. They said just because I reserved it doesn’t mean they would have it there for me..??!? I then had to wait for them to figure it out and FINALLY let me rent the van. It took around an hour to finally get it all solved so I was late to picking up my furtnite which was a huge inconvenience. I used U-haul because I trusted the company as a whole but I will never recommend this company to anyone just because of the horrible experience.

The location is very convenient. I rented a Dodge Ram 1500 vehicle. The rep did not know the year but it had 6000 miles on it. I drove 10 miles. Higgins Petroleum wanted to charge more than 2 gallons of gas for 10 miles. Not acceptible service.

it was a miserable experience. Until we got to the counter, we did not realize we would be charged another full day if we returned it a minute past 8:00 p.m. There was no indication on the website. The reservation on my phone app had no details. it thru off all our plans for the day, and made it a big, unpleasant rush. Had we known, we would have picked up the van earlier. also the staff person had no knowledge nor could not help us at all. Call uhaul was his only response.

Payment of the rental has been a huge challenge. At this time, payment has not been made. A half-hour at the rental outlet after returning the vehicle dealing with problem with debit card charges involved calling my bank that confirmed sufficient funds. The rejection of the payment resulted from the outlet charging two different amounts each with the same transaction number that was automatically rejected by the credit-card department of the credit union. A promissory note was signed. No charges appeared on my bank statement. Your representative by email suggested three options: on-line payment, contact with a payment representative or return to the outlet. Your system did not accept repeated attempts using the reservation number given me. I waited on hold for over 25 minutes to speak with a representative live. I cannot easily return to the outlet which was unsuccessful initially. Overall, I have spent one hour trying to make payment without success. Please consider reducing or cancelling my bill. I have used UHaul for decades and should not be asked to spent such time. Thank you.
