I chose to do everything through my phone. I had a hard time completing the check in and pick up. The person at the counter had the key to the truck and completed the process manually. I informed him that the tank was not completely full and he advised me to refuel at the same level. I was charged 9,5 for not having a full tank upon return. Very frustrating
Juliana G.I loved the lady and the man who were behind the counter in that little convenience store. Thank God for them. However, the location is actually in the ghetto ghetto like scary ghetto. I believe it's the third worst neighborhood in the nation. I had no idea what I was driving into and I definitely would never venture there again. But I needed the truck and they were the only place open after 5:00 anywhere near me Move took way longer than expected and I was so appreciative of the fleet manager took the time out of his holiday to call me and remind me that I was overdue with the rental. I asked him if I could have it for a few more days and he was so accommodating and understanding. Again. He was actually on vacation. But he takes the time out to check in with his employees. That says a lot to me... When I went to return the truck it was daylight and probably more scary cuz I could actually see all sorts of people just kind of. I don't know wandering around like zombies. There were two sheriffs in the parking lot. I didn't think anything of it until they asked me if I was lost.. obviously they could sense. I may have been a little afraid. And I was just trying to pull up the stupid app which was thumbs down because it would not let me return the rental. I uploaded photos. I did everything. I have Wi-Fi 5G and still I couldn't complete the checkout process online. Thereby The woman who was behind the counter at that store, she was the same woman who was there the night I picked it up. Up. She immediately made me feel comfortable. She made eye contact with me.. when she sensed that I was really getting scared because like I said it's ghetto ghetto. Must have been around 3:00 in the afternoon and that's usually when the drunks need to start to drink because they finish work. It was pretty obvious that they needed to get their booze. And I had no business being anywhere near that location by myself. However, like I said, both the woman and the man that were working in that store on the night that I picked it up and then this afternoon immediately made me feel safer than standing outside in a parking lot with two sheriff deputies. I appreciate the fact that there was a place that I could pick a U-Haul up after 5:00 p.m., however, I would never in a million years recommend anybody venturing into that neighborhood unless you live there. Nothing scary around the store parking lot because like I said that gracious lady and me and that worked behind the counter seemed to have the crowd control covered. But when I drove out of there I saw what appeared to be zombies. Just wandering around the place where you would actually have your storage. That was a very long stop sign and red light to sit at. Especially not being familiar with that neighborhood.
Cheryl R.I was originally given the address of an actual uhaul rental center at 11401 S. Cleveland in Fort Myers FL. had even driven by it the day before since I was in that area. I admit, I didn't fully read the confirmation txt I received the night before informing me the pick up location had changed and I went to the S. Cleveland location. When I got there I waited in the empty lobby for a good 5 mins before anyone arrived and asked if I needed assistance. Finally when the gentleman did arrive he was aggregated and seemed annoyed I was there but then seemed to enjoy telling me my rental truck wasnt at that location. He scribbled some numbers and words on a post it whiich appeared to be an address but I could not desyfer his hand writting. When I asked him how far it was he told me he had no idea. I got out my phone and was about to call uhaul when I noticed the txt had the updated address. I Googled the address and luckily it was in walking distance. Before I left, I asked the very unhelpful attendant if I could use the restroom. He said out this front door two doors down on the right. He was referring to the gas station on the corner. About 2 500 yards away..I don't know if this man is a direct employee of uhaul but I found him to be intentionally rude. Sorry, I did not get his name, at the time I didn't think of it because I'm not a complainer and my focus was on helping my mother move her belongings after the hurricane. This happen at the above menitioned address which had a uhaul logo and plenty of uhaul equipment at the site. It happen around 9am on Wednesday dec14. The gentleman was Caucasian appox late 40s early 50s. On another note, when I got to the contracted dealer that rented me the truck the guy assisting me was the complete opposite, he was friendly, helpful, informative and understanding. When I explained to him what had happened at the other location wasn't surprised. I get that everyone has bad days, that area of Florida has had unimaginable horrible days and it's going to take a very long time until they feel any normalcy but no matter what the situation I would not want this attendant representing any company that I ran. I worked in the hospitality industry for 25. I know the difference between being stressed/busy to intentionally rude. He went out of his way to ensure I realized I was interrupting. Annoyed I even showed up and frustrated I didn't read my txt. Maybe the bathroom was out of service but if that was true, he could've said that instead of directing me in a very smart Alec way to another building off the property. Honestly, he really seemed to derive pleasure from knowing he was making my day more difficulty. If he treats even one other customer this way, I'm sure you will hear about it. I hoping for his and uhaul's sake this was a oddly random bad exchange and that most folks have a positive helpful experience with him. But, I don't think I'd bother writing this if I thought that deep down. If his behavior is ongoing it most definitely needs to be addressed.
Greg G.Worst experience of my life since the moment I attempted checking out the rental truck. I received the truck with 1/4 of a gas tank. I was given 2 days with the truck with 189 total miles to drive with which was perfect. I was emailed the drop off location via email. I dropped the truck off at the Designated drop off location provided by Uhaul, via email. Then the drop off location is attempting to charge me for wrong drop off location and supposedly going over mileage which I did not. At the point of renting/payment they say one thing and change the information at the drop off time to charge you more. I have proof of the changes and do not trust this company. People should be careful using this service or avoid it all together.
