When a truck is late for dropnoff let the next customer using it. I was suppose to get a 26 foot truck but there wasn't any because other customers didn't follow rules. Since we had to get a smaller truck I had to make numerous trips which we didn't plan. It was a huge inconvenience to me and my family. The ladies working the inside were slow and talked to each other more then the customers. From the time I entered the store until getting in the truck was 52 minutes. I also did the check in early online, well that didn't help much.Kerstie R.
The employees were nice, but the uhaul was not safe to drive and not maintained well. The drivers side mirror wasn't screwed in tight and kept moving around. The steering and wheels weren't aligned and the runner padding on the door was falling off.ELIZABETHANNE H.

On June 2nd I requested to reserve a truck at 609 J Clyde Morris Blvd in Newport News, VA. Everything was confirmed, I reserved a 20 ft truck to be picked up the morning of June 12th, and I got a confirmation number. On June 10th I received a call a phone call telling me NO trucks were available at this location. I was told the truck I wanted was available at the Mercury Blvd location, in Hampton VA. The change in location added additional miles and created an inconvenience. Yes, I did receive a discount on the daily rate and the cost per mile but it BARELY covered the cost of the additional distance I was forced to travel. I DID ask if a truck could be brought to the original location but that request was denied. I feel like I was given empty promises and had no choice but to accept the new drop off/pick up location. I am not exactly happy with all of this and should I require similar services in the future I will be looking elsewhere.KEITHA H.

The service was spectacular. The people were friendly and accommodating . As far as customer service, I rate the experience perfect. I am a little surprised the truck I received was still on the road. It's age showed very much. The fuel economy gauge didn't work and the steering was a constant struggle to name a couple of things right off the bat. I have rented plenty of U Haul trucks in my time in the military and they were all more modern and less difficult to handle. Luckily I learned to drive in a 1970s Chevy truck so I was accustomed to similar driving conditions. I honestly feel like that particular vehicle doesn't owe you guys anything at this pointMichael S.

I suspect the truck I used is nearing the end of useful life. The suspension seemed poor, and reacted to every bump in the road. The cargo door popped open while driving down the highway. The truck had many scratches from previous use.DONALDSTEVENS K.

Please see below email I sent to the service team: Hello U-Haul customer service team, I am writing to you to express my disappointment and frustration with a recent rental. The day before my reservation I received a phone call that the requested equipment I was to rent was not available at the desired location. Instead I would have to travel to a location 40 minutes and 29 miles away as opposed to the location three minutes and one mile away. This change on such short notice added the following expenses to my move: Miles: I was given 50 bonus miles, but that did not cover the first 58 mile round trip. Furthermore, I had to make this trip twice because I initially dropped my car off so that I could bring the truck to my apartment to pack before returning to load the car on the trailer. Had this been one mile down the road, this would not have been an issue. Overall I traveled 58 extra miles that I was not compensated for, which means an additional $58 added to my reservation. Gas: two round trips at 58 miles = 116 miles. The 15 foot truck gets about 10 mpg which means I paid for an additional 11.6 gallons of gas. At about 3 dollars a gallon that equates to $35. Time: Two round trips at an hour and twenty minutes is close to three hours. This was definitely the most frustrating part as time is valuable when someone makes a long distance relocation. I don't feel the need to quantify what my time is worth, I hope that you can relate. With the added expenses and time to my move I am still very frustrated about this whole situation and am starting to wonder why the customer is given the option to choose a pick up location when it changes so frequently (this is not the first time this has happened, but it was certainly the most inconvenient.) I will be perfectly honest with you and say that the $50 U-Haul guarantee is not going to suffice in this situation given the expenses and time constraints. I am looking to be compensated far above the usual $50 for this, otherwise I will be forced to pursue other self moving options in the future. My contract number is below.
