The inside box of the truck had dirt and mud in it. It should have been cleaned. The transmission had a problem. I was doing a very local move but it couldn't go over 35 MPH. The operators of the location were extremely nice and told me I could come earlier than their open time because they are usually there. They were very accommodating.

The person at front desk was super helpful and polite and I appreciate that a lot, also the staff person who was helpful in assisting with getting familiar with vehicle controls. The vehicle was in good and clean condition. I would surely recommend U-Haul and the center (1939, oak tree Rd. Edison NJ) I visited to others.

Youâ€™re service to pick up the truck via the app was useless. It had connection issues, though I was able to use other apps/sites just fine. No response via the â€œchatâ€. Called for help and was on hold for 30 minutes before I gave up. Fortunately someone was working at the location who could help me. However he didnâ€™t have the 30 moving blankets I reserved, and some of my furniture was damaged as a result. Very disappointed.

Therear view mirror was broken, it kept falling forward, making it impossible for my husband to see behind him. This was not the fault of J&M though. The truck was from Alabama. We did inform them to fix it.

Very dissatisfied. The truck a/c went out and the turn signals stopped working. I lost the entire rest of the day , because the uhaul technicians had to come out and fix the truck by midnight. I was then charged a fee for the mileage and not given any consideration for my horrible experience. Never again.

Hi, Firstly I'm very dissatisfied on the way my Uhual rent was taken care by. I initially requested for a pick up of vehicle on Parsipany area at 12:00 PM on 6/29. To my surprise it was changed to Elizabeth by reservation office. The moment I received a tet message about the change, I tried reaching over phone waited for 1 hour on call getting transfered 3 times by your concerned teams and finally got a response that they are out of Business hours and your associate said someone would reach me back. Post that I got a call next day and your associate was referring about some discount offer. Initially I thought that it was for a change done for Elizabeth pick up location. Later when he put down phone, I got another text message that my Pick up location is changed to Edison which was 40 miles (one way) away from my place. When I tried to call up customer care they came back stating that this was the reason discount was offered as if they were doing me a favor and this time pick up time was also changed to 3:00 PM because of which all my plans were changed. This all is one side of the coin of the problems that I faced. Initially at the time of booking, I specifically asked for quotation for both 1 way and 2 way and informed your associate that I would prefer using 1 way option to which they have suggested to block for 2 way (But I can use 1 way if I wish to and return it at the destination if need be and I would only be charged for the miles that I used within 24 hours of time be it 1 way or 2 way). Now my problems with Uhaul did not end here. On the pick up day I called up the Edison office and they say said it will be delayed further and she will let me know if they vehicle comes early. Based on that I planned my timing. And suddenly she called up and said vehicle was ready for pick up at 3:00 PM. But since I was middle of some other place. I went for pick up some time later. When I reached there and enquired about 1 way trip I was taken back by the response of the Desk person where she said the booking was for in town and I had to return it to same location where I picked up the vehicle, if not then I would be charged additional 350$+ tax apart from rental. If both the options do not work out then I'm free to go ahead and cancel the booking and rebook it when vehicles are available by calling your customer care. I dont know how can she say so when every thing has been planned for the moment. When I tried calling the customer care to complaint about the experience I had they said they will raise a complaint on behalf as I should not have got that kind of response for 1 way trip by the associate and in fact they should have said okay for my 1 way trip. (Because of all these I had to travel 130 Miles additionally + 40 Miles from my home to pick up location). On top of that your customer care associate has also said I can expect a response within 72 hours but I never heard back. When asked for a feedback form they said I will be able to do s

Communication from the store manager on filling the gas was not clear. I was unable to close the truck door. I ordered a dolley with it but never received.

You can provide the equipment requested in the reservation or at the very least notify when it is not available. I had requested handtrucks and dollies and did not think to look in the back for them at pick up, when I arrived to load the truck there was nothing I had requested. Upon calling j&m (my pickup location) about this the staff was very short and dismissive. I did not appreciate that.
