Everything was great with the location, Ken and his wife where absolutely amazing to deal with, amazing people, the one thing I did not like was that the running lights did not work on the trailer for my travels, 5800 km to be exact,I feel this was not correct but I needed to get to my destination so I kept on going with no running lights.Randy L.
The rep in Hay River needs to be more familiar with your system and general use of computers. It took over a hour for me to pick up my trailer because he kept entering the information and then clicking outside the screen or back, not saving the info he entered. After 45 minutes of him entering and re-entering my information i finally got so frustrated that I had to tell him each and every where to click and not to click and what info to type to get my rental completed. This was very frustrating as my family and I were in a middle of a move which was time sensitive, taking over a hour of my day to pick up. I then had to bring the trailer to a heated shop to melt all the snow and ice off as it was all covered and I could not get the ramps out or load my vehicle. Once all the snow and ice melted the trailer was covered in dirt and silt. All together this added unneeded hours to my move. There was no attempt to clean the trailer from the previous use, there was hardly any attempt to remove the snow and ice, and there was no attempt to get the transaction completed in a timely manner, although I booked online and did the pre-check on you rep insisted on doing it all again on paper.Joshua H.
Drop off was AMAZING! The staff were so inviting and helpful! We were towing a low-riding sedan that was tricky to get onto the auto transport given the minimal clearance.. the store owner was so knowledgeable and prepared with blocks of wood! He guided us off the auto transport with lots of clearance and ease! He even allowed us to drop the auto transport and park our car in the lot over night (given that he was out nearest uhaul and our location was 3 hours beyond them). 12/10 would recommend.Alyssa P.

He made sure he safely and timely set us up with the right equipment despite the last minute request, our lack of knowledge of the equipment, and other issues he manged to iron out gracefully. If ever in Hay River, give these guys a call, ask for Sandy. He uses his cabinetry making margin if error (1mm!!!) to get things done very, very well.Mihai V.

The oil in the Uhaul I rented was several thousand miles overdue to be changed. The way I understand it, your practice is to just let the vehicle be rented and rented and rented until it breaks down. Not acceptable. I had to put 2 litres of oil in it myself as the check engine light came on just an hour and a half into my 1700km move... ShameSEan S.

This wasn't my primary pickup location as my primary location didn't have the trailer I ordered. I had to travel 950km to pick it up and was happy to receive the extra days to help compensate. Vendor was very friendly and accommodating. Rating would be excellent if moving blankets I ordered would have been available.George F.
I had to drive 10 hours return trip to get this trailer because you did not have one for me at the location I rented it at. The compensation for this inconvenience was not enough to cover the fuel needed for the trip let alone the 10 hours out of my lifeRobert R.

I had booked a month in advance to pick up in Yellowknife but when I called to confirm that a unit would be there for me I was told that there would not be anything in Yellowknife. I had to spend nearly $500.00 to fly to Hay river in order to pick up my truck. This was a very stressful time and I am not happy with uhaul and will use other ways of moving in the future. The Hay River outlet were friendly and did all that they could for me so this is no reflection on them.PATRICK E.

Locations were great and product worked wonderfully.. Ken in Hay River was a calm voice and great person to work with as I dealt with "the process." My comments relate more to the process and system for booking a trailer with u-haul. I explained on the 1-800 number I was travelling from Ft Smith NT to Victoria BC and back and needed a trailer for the Victoria back to Ft Smith leg. I would then return the trailer to Hay River the next day a) It was impossible to locate an confirm a trailer on Vancouver Island until 24 hours before pick up. I realize there are coordinating challenges for u-hual on an island but it was not possible for me to start the 3 day trip from the NWT not knowing if there would be a trailer at the other end. This may be a uniquely Vancouver Island issue but after many calls to dealers on the island to try and locate what I needed I was pretty frustrated and still without a solution. b) I ended up booking a trailer in Grande Prairie and asked for a quote. It was given a quote that seemed impossibly low. I asked why so low and it was explained that was "how the system" worked. c) 24 hours before I leave I get an e-mail that there is no trailer in Grande Prairie but there is one in Beaver Lodge. This is not on my route and represents a detour. I recognize that u-haul uses an expanding ring from the point of pick up but knowing my proposed route, as I had informed them when I made my booking, a simple GPS route search would have identified communities along my planned route with u-haul dealers. I called the 1-800 number back and basically had them search communities along my route and picked one up in High Level..No detours required. d) . At the pick up in High Level they explained it was booked for 3 days as a one way. I explained again that I needed it longer and could I pay up front for the days needed. I was informed that for trailers this was how it was done and that I would have to pay for the 3 days and then pay additional charges for every day after that. This seemed silly to me as I had a detailed plan and knew I needed it longer but could not pay up front. e) 3 days into the trip, as i am packing the trailer in BC, I get 2 calls form U-haul asking where the trailer is because its due back. I call the 1-800 number again to explain myself and the operator simply puts the dates into the"system" so I will not receive any more reminders. Apparently this "system" she used is different from the booking system as she could put in my actual dates. The reminders stopped, which made the rest of the trip less stressful. Suggestions - 1) Book for the duration of the planned trip so costs are planned and managed upfront for the customer. If there are additional changes due to unplanned trip changes they can be dealt with at the end. 2) Use both a GPS route planning system and the "closest to" option when booking so that you are responsive to customer's needs and are not redirecting them unnecessariMike K.
The location owner was fantastic however we were very upset when found out that if we had reserved directly with him we would have only been charged $175.00 plus taxes. Instead we were charged $500.01 with taxes when we reserved on-line to pick up only 500 km away which is ludicrous. Never again using on-lineRon M.

Ken and his team went above and beyond to accommodate our move and be as helpful as he possibly could. He understands the very special needs one has who lives in the Canadian North, were it's not possible to go to another uhaul location without driving for at least 5 hours. He made sure to have the requested equipment at his location even earlier for us to pick up than scheduled. The trailer size was not what we asked for when we made our reservation. An email was sent confirming registration but did not make any note that they were changing the size. Overall increased the cost and difficulty of our move. would not use uhaul again due to this.Sherri O.
