This was an almost uniformly bad experience. I was not greeted on arrival. Attendant was texting or something. Eventually decided to put down the phone and help me. Possibly he was using the phone to do U-Haul business - don't know. But a 'hello' or 'how can I help you' or even a guttural grunting noise to acknowledge my presence would have been nice at least.. Despite having ordered pads, they were all gone by the time I got there. The attendant supplied cardboard pads which was better than nothing but this was also annoying. Hitched up the trailer, we tested the lights, I said am I good to go? He said yes, even though he had left the trailer door fully open. I drove away with the door fully open as a result. A kind fellow driver signaled me that it was open so I pulled over to the verge on a 4-lane interstate to close the thing. Really?

Sign at location said to stay with rental vehicle during drop off. I waited 5 minutes and then went inside to drop off keys...

The location was supposed to be open at 9am. When I arrived at 10:15am, the store was still closed with a line of patrons waiting outside. The uhaul personnel was late to open. They finally arrived

...the rates. The rate was terrible, but we had little to no choice on rental options. I had to drive 45 minutes extra to get the van, and another 45 minutes extra to get it home that night, because of a reservation issue from that morning. That alone cost an extra 70 miles for us. The staff I dealt with, in the other hand, are some of the nicest individuals I have ever dealt with at uhaul, so I would definitely recommend the Wilmington and Natick locations.

overall extremely poor customer service at this location ( 687 Main St Rte 38 Wilmington, MA 01887). I cannot speak on other locations, but can say that my experience with the staff at this particular location was unpleasant and outright unacceptable. First, the U-Haul customer service line is automated very difficult to reach anyone. I called this location in Wilmington directly as this is where I had made the reservation. I was on hold for up to an hour on several occasions. At one point someone picked up requested that I hold and then never returned. I had an incident where I was unable to return the truck at the specified returned time. I called the wilmington location to speak with a representative request an extension. Again i was on the phone listening to automated prompts , no one answered the call i could not leave a message, I eventually hung up. The following morning I received a call from Adrienne the owner (according to his name tag when I picked up the truck) of this Uhaul location who demanded that I return the truck ASAP. I explained that I had tried to reach him the day before to notify Uhaul of the situation and was not able to reach anyone. He stated that he was really busy and that he needs the truck now. He then threatened to charge me fees for every customer's reservation that I interrupted. Adrienne then hung up the phone. This is 100% unacceptable behavior and poor customer service.Adrienne needs basic training on problem solving skills/customer service. His behavior was appalling and disrespectful. I would not recommend this uhaul location to anyone.

1. Actually have the truck I reserved there for me. I got a call 20 minutes before I was picking it up saying they had no 20' truck, even though I reserved WELL IN ADVANCE 2. The truck was horrible. 150K+ miles, transmission that did not want to go out of 1st gear, even on the highway, driver's door that I had to slam over and over to get it shut. 3. Major attitude of the clerk. Did not care that I ended up with a smaller truck. Did not care that I might need to make 2 trips instead of one to move my things. Did I mention he did not care?? 4. Was charged for 2 days even though when I called to ask, I was told I could return it up to 5pm for the same charge. Had to wait 10+ minutes for the same clerk to show up in the store. This may be my last UHaul rental. Up to now, it was always fine. This time it was horrible.

The idea of booking something online is great however when what you booked turns unavailable when it goes to the scheduling dept. is a bit odd. Having to chase around or drive out of the way for my desired rental when that happens could be improved. Perhaps a more realtime inventory system? Also why can't a store but contacted direct for inventory. Talking to an agent who doesn't have actual realtime inventory of a location is worthless.
