The rental was a nightmare from the beginning. It wasn't her fault, but the woman at the counter was brand new and had never rented out a Uhaul before. The sign out process knocked 45 minutes off of my move time. Once I arrived at my apartment I raised the door on the back of truck and saw that a floor panel had many rivets missing and the panel was falling through the floor. All day we tripped on this hazard and I wasn't able to fill the truck properly because of the damage. I took time stamped photos to document that I received the truck damaged. One of my friends actually tripped, fell and cut up his arms. In hindsight, I should have called Uhaul right then. Upon returning the vehicle, the owner of the gas station, Marcus Khalil, repeatedly made it out to seem like I damaged the truck. He told me this was a new truck and wasn't previously returned like that. It was returned like that, and I had to deal with the inconvenience of the damage all day. After working around this inconvenience all day, I then had to listen to a gas station owner passive-aggressively berate me for something I did not do. He said to me†“let me give you some advice, when you rent a car always notify the owner of any damages.†Well, the difference here is that a rental car agency is run by professionals, and they walk around their vehicles with their renters to document damage. That way, they don't embarrass themselves and accuse their renters of damage the renters didn't create. I was completely dissatisfied with my Uhaul experience, and I can only hope other renters do not have to have the same experience I did. I will not recommend Uhaul to family or friends and in the unlikely circumstance that I do rent with Uhaul in the future, I will most definitely never do business with Marcus Khalil and his gas station again.
