be sure they understand how much gas to put in before returning. I thought the tanks were always kept full. I filled the tank before checking the gauge. The tank was only 3/8 full when I picked up the truck. That is very low to release a truck. I spent twice as much on gas as I did on rent.I am not happy about that.

Would be better if they'd make sure the truck is full of gas before sending it out. It looked like it was on full when I left. I ended up spendinbg $15 to top off the tank - which then showed way above full. I ended up paying like 90 cents a mile for gas. I should have figured out how much the truck gets per gallon and filled only as much as I was actually using. Don't trust the gas gauge. Despite me giving them a bunch of free gas, we had to come in person and pay the $1.38 extra because my estimate was 2 miles off (it tripped to the next mile 100 feet out of the parking lot and I forgot about an extra mile I had to go up the street). Bottom line, calculate your actual usage when filling up and don't give away free gas.

The location is open until 1:00pm in Saturday? Odd, difficult to accommodate at times. The automated system is even stranger and unable to make specific requests. This part needs examination and revision. Possibly talking to a human being as an option. Automated systems can solve problems a majority of the time but not all the time. Needing a specific vehicle for a specific length of time is not a pet of the solution you offer.

1. Help at call center appeared to be untrained and lacking in knowledge. 2. Could not accept preferred credit card. Truck location had no such trouble. 3. Had to correct drop off date 4 times before it was corrected. 4. Was told could pick up truck anytime on Saturday. Location closes at 1:30. 5. Drop off location closed early on Tuesday, drop off day. Worst total experience I have had with U-Haul.

Have customers estimate their distance on Mapquest or Google maps ahead of time, so they can tell you when you ask.

Scheduled online 4 weeks ago and everything feel apart. Truck not at location requested and had to travel 50 miles one way to get the truck. Reserved a car dolly which was at a different location. Ended up with a trailer. Why do online reservations if UHaul can't follow through.

There were two issues I had first every time I came into the office I had to wait for the clerk to return. Apparently this site was "understaffed" although the clerk was pleasant and knowledgeable. I have been renting UHAUL trucks off and on for 30 years. He offered me insurance for a further $15.95 I think that was the amount and I told him no. Then he informed me that UHAUL doesn't negotiate with "your" insurance and that if "you have an accident you will have to pay out of pocket for any damages and get reimbursed from your insurance company yourself." I informed him I didn't like the feeling of being "high jacked" into getting insurance when I have perfectly good insurance! Secondly, I am not impressed with UHAUL's policy and will keep this in mind the next time I need to rent a truck or other equipment. I don't have a large pool of money laying around with demands from a company to pay for damages when I pay for insurance for just such types of things. I don't believe my comments will make much difference to you overall but I certainly don't care for the uncomfortable feeling I had while driving too and from my destination to accomplish the task. I like good customer service and although the clerk did a fairly good job I simply don't like someone trying to "high jack" further funds out of my pocket.

Web site showed pickup in stock. Did some quick estimating figured $42 for the rental. Went to the store, no truck. They found one on the other side of where I needed to go. So I just rented the next size up. Same base price. More per mile. Then the scare tactic of the $15 insurance. By the end of the day nearly $70 was allot more than I expected. The truck was in good shape and worked perfectly for my needs. The counter help was very good. Overall a wash but, next time I will do more shopping around. Last time I rented from U-Haul I was upgraded twice because vehicle unavailability and used my own insurance. However, that was 30 years ago.

System should have a two-step verification process for the information given on the forms. Anybody can write down the White House's email address onto the form and the contract and they won't even bother checking.
