John S | Overall ExperienceI recently received a letter about my payment being late and a lien was going to be placed on my unit. This inadvertently happened as I was moving my business earlier this month. I got an email, remembered, quickly paid it, and didn't think any more about it. Then today my oldest daughter whom I haven't spoken to in some time, sends me a text about this lein thing on my unit (#1140). Due to having a bit of history with the GM at the location ( Lakeia Springs @ the Hickory NC Downtown UHaul), I called the customer service line to inquire why and how they had gotten her address. I remembered giving them her phone number but I don't know her address because we don't speak or visit each other. So it was my understanding that this GM had to have gotten it illegally which was my daughter's concern. This was a clear violation of my privacy and that of my daughters. In the call to customer service, they transferred my call (when I asked to speak to a manager) to this GM Lakeia Springs in Hickory. I didn't realize that it was her until she told me so. I asked her how she got my daughter's address and she screamed back that I had given it to her when I rented my unit. I told her at that time I didn't have to be treated that way and told her to have a nice day and hung up. I had a meeting with my business partners and during the meeting I got a call from our local police officer he told me that my agreement was terminated and I needed to work out how to remove my belongings. I then got the email with this letter and am in awe of what I did wrong to deserve to be first spoken to the way she did and to have my character defamed in my community. I am a member of the Catawba Chamber of Commerce and a member of our Downtown Development Association and sit on several committees and boards for our community. I own Samurai Institute which is the largest martial arts school in Hickory and serves many law enforcement agencies with training in hand-to-hand tactics. To have YOUR manager speak to a customer and then defame their name within the community they do business and live in and unacceptable behavior. She first got upset with me when I called the corporate number in March when she answered the UHaul phone drunk and told on her. Since then I have received only poor service and problems. She deleted my email once in May and I almost lost my property then. She is a disgrace to UHaul's name and is a very poor representation of UHaul. I strongly feel that this was due to Lakeia Springs answering the phone drunk or stoned in March or April when I called to stop one of my units. She became very irate and I hung up and called the corporate office and reported it. Ever since she has had a discriminatory attitude toward me. If she worked for me, well she wouldn't because of her poor customer service attitude toward everyone. If she hates her job she should;d find another one. I am now considering legal action with a lawsuit for defamation of my good name in the community where I grew up. The mayor knows me because we went to school together and he was a former police officer. Now because of what Lakeia has done I will lose income from students dropping out (law enforcement, they are very particular) and could cause my business to close altogether. This is all because I, a paying customer, asked a question. My business and income rely solely on my reputation in my community and she has done unrepairable damage to me. I am now at a loss for what to do and how to get my belongings ( because the police told me not to contact her at all) I have called and spoken to countless people in your organization with no resolution. WHAT DO I DO AND WHY AM I BEING PUNISHED FOR ASKING A QUESTION? Also, I would like to know in writing what offense I did to breach the agreement.
