When scheduling a truck rental, I was given the option of picking up at the counter, or picking up remotely using my phone. Initially we were unable to find our truck so I went inside and waited in line and a gentleman walked out and helped me find it, then we sat there and followed the process of taking pictures and answering questions and at the end of the process we're told to go back in to pick up the key. We could have picked up the key while we were inside to begin with. I'm not sure why we were offered a choice of picking up by phone or at the counter if at the end of it all you have to go up to the counter anyway to get the key. We finally got the vehicle, which was fine. We also requested a appliance dolly which was unavailable when we picked up the vehicle, but we were able to get one later on in the day. We did not realize that an appliance dolly is taller than the type of truck we rented. We rented a van. So when it came time to try to get the appliance into the vehicle we were unable to do so with the dolly since the dolly itself did not fit into the vehicle. Of course we had the same problem trying to get the appliance out of the vehicle. This was a very heavy washing machine, and we are two girls. We had to lift and carry the machine out of the van. We struggled for some time and were 4 minutes late returning the vehicle. The return process after hours took some time so it will probably be considered a very late return. I'm wondering now if there will be any charges associated with that.Beth L.
Customer Rep at counter first said they only had one large trailer and it was reserved. I noticed there were two trailers of this size on the lot and asked about the second one. I was told it could not be used for a local rental since it was a â€œone wayâ€ trailer. The manager overheard this conversation and told the rep to make the rental. Other than this, service at this location is always excellent. ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE RETURN APPLICATION WITH PHOTO UPLOADS. I was charged on my credit card over the phone at the time of reservation and on my debit card at the time of pick up. When i called to address this, I was reassured that i would not be over charged as they were holds, but both charges have now hit my accounts. I was also given wrong info about being able to access my unit anytime. I was on location at midnight with the truck and family in the pouring rain and unable to access our unit per the agent on the phone at that time and had to wait to speak to the manager on duty the next morning. I called to get a refund today and the lady on location could not access my account to find any charges. I am now on the national line and have been holding for 1 hour and 10 mins to get a refund... let's see how long this takes :(FABIAN G.

I reserved a 20' van for 7 am pickup at a different location. When I got there, they told me I had to go to the Burnet location. I did not receive an email or text informing me of the location change. I went to 8710 Burnet, and they said they did not have any 20' trucks. They could not find one anywhere in Austin, despite me making the reservation well in advance. Julie was as helpful as she could be at 8710 Burnet, and was able to get me a 15' truck instead. She threw in some moving carpet for free, and was friendly about everything while understanding how much this impacted my move. Unfortunately, I did not have enough space in the 15' van for everything, so I had to rent a second van from Penske. Had I gotten the 20' van I had reserved, I would not have had to rent the second van. Furthermore, I was not given the "$50 reservation guarantee credit." I will not be using U-Haul again.HENRY T.
We had a storage unit reserved here to drop off our stuff. I called when I was on my way and finally someone answered and said their system was down, I still had to return my U-Haul in less than 2 hours but they had no where for me to store my stuff. No one communicated this with me until I specifically called and asked about the storage unit. I have used U-Haul 2 times in the last year for cross country moved and have had terrible experiences both times.DAVID L.

They tried so hard to charge me some extra money. First i've been told that i had to drop the truck at another location and i have to pay $130 extra for this. Witch i debated it and specifically said that i am at the right location. Then they said when you took the truck it 3/4 full tank and now it is 1/2. You have to pay $45 for not the fuel not being at the same level. Hopefully when i got the truck i took a picture at the fuel indicator and showed him the picture. He became so angry though! I spend only three gas before drop off I refill 4 gallon gas like I add even one gallon extra the gauge was more than that I received the vehicle at the time of drop off but they charge me for 8 gallon gas without any reason they showed wrong information on my recept.PARWEZ F.

Staff was ready to hook up the trailer when I arrived. I had ordered a cargo trailer without the ramp but they did not have one on hand when I arrived so they gave us one with a ramp at the rate of the one I ordered.RANDALL K.

This manager or GM or whatever he is told me that he wouldn't rent me a 20' U-Haul because â€œto keep his lights onâ€ he has to rent that 20' U-Haul to families twice on Friday and twice on Saturday and because I would need it from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon he would push off the reservation and say that he couldn't fill the reservation. The manager or GM then said he can rent to whoever he wants to and run his business however he feels he should. This is a poor GM or manager or whoever this guy is, he has horrible people skills, horrible managerial skills, and should not even be allowed to use the U-Haul name. He didn't provide any additional options, offer to get me into a larger or smaller U-Haul, he just said that he wouldn't rent to me, and he would push me off onto another U-Haul location. After he didn't push me off onto another location, I went to the location extremely upset and enraged, the manager wouldn't even speak to me! If it weren't for the Latino gentleman (I didn't catch his name) then I would've went ballistic. The gentleman was much better suited to be the manager or GM or even an area manager, he apologized, offered to get me into a different U-Haul, and gave me options. He was the only saving grace at this location. I think that this location should be wiped from the map, give the only person who actually helped me his own store or give him a bunch of stores to manage because he's what U-Haul customer service should be like. He is the prime example of great customer service, give him a raise, give him a promotion, and get rid of or demote the person who's in charge now. I wish I knew the Latino gentleman's name because as a disabled veteran, business owner, and philanthropist I would give this man a glowing recommendation to any job he applied for. I hate this location, I will never return to it, I will implore all friends/family/acquaintances to not rent from this location. I will do whatever possible to let all the veteran groups I am a part of know to not rent from this location either.Jeffrey M.
