Website reservation system and Android app is totally broken. I made the reservation, then got a text saying no trucks were available. Called the location and they DID have trucks. Once I arrived to pick it up, after hours, the app would not let me do anything other than the check-in. I had to call the customer service line to check out the vehicle. Finally, when I checked in, the app would not let me pay - it just went to a blank screen when I tried to pay with my "card on file". You gotta get this together ...

Honestly, the process to rent the van was easy, and the two ladies that helped me get everything signed and settled to take the van were pleasant. It was convenient and relatively cheap, and I was happy. Until I checked my bank statement this morning, only to see ANOTHER hold on my account for the original hold amount charged, after the final charge for the actual rental had been cleared and paid for. When I called the uhaul location I rented from, the man kept talking over me after I presented my question and just kept saying that I need to follow up with my bank, that it’s their fault. I was unhappy with how he handled it and knew I wouldn’t get anywhere, so I called uhaul’s main customer service line. I was told that that’s just how the system works, which still was not entirely helpful, so I took a second look at my contract. I do see now in my contract that it says a second hold may be placed. But I still do not understand WHY as the original charge is already cleared and I need that second hold to pay other bills. Also, both points of contact for customer service today were just not pleasant at all; the woman from uhaul was monotone and short like she just wanted to get off the phone and the man from my local uhaul location was rude and obviously didn’t know what he was talking about if it actually does say in my contract that I could be charged a second time, but he sent me to my bank. The rental itself was so easy, but I would not come back to uhaul for this really crappy customer service experience.

Truck seats were soaked from preveous nights rain, moving pads were put on seats to respond to this condition. I was told I would get a discount for driving with a wet butt for 6 hours. Thats did not happen as promised. Additionally, the truck had less than 1/4 tank of fuel at pick up I returned as same level, yet was hit with fuel charge, this is inappropriate as well.

I applied online for a location close to my moving to and from location, 1.1 miles from my home. The reservation was accepted. I later was told I had to drive a 26 mile round trip to pick and return the truck. I didn't mind the inconvenience so much. I didn't agree, however, in being charged for the 26 miles it took to get and return the truck.

This was an absolutely HORRIBLE experience and I wish to speak with someone that is of management at your corporate office regarding the series of events leading up until this point. If I could rate ZERO STARS, I would! I have already lodged a formal complaint with a U-Haul representative in customer service on Friday afternoon. I also sent over photos and video footage of my experience. I have been renting from this location for over 2 months on a weekly basis and this was the last straw. From the nastiness and smell of several vans I've rented and had to clean myself prior to use, to being charged for gas when I have put the proper amount of gas back in the van I used and have receipts to prove it. Then being overcharged when the agreement from day one was 69 cents a mile, not 79 cents a mile. Oh and my weekly reservations were not made on time by the dealer and I got left with a much smaller van to use and all my equipment did not fit in the last van I rented as it was not large enough. There is a specific van type I need and this dealer knew this and knows what kind of business I operate but could care less. All he did was complain about him "losing money" with van rentals. He screwed up for the last time and I am now putting everything in writing regarding my complaint. I've had enough. 2 months of this crap! Something needs to be done and I mean business. I am NOT playing games here. I have a business to run and this type if nonsense with this particular U-Haul dealer is completely unacceptable!

The manager at this location (Phillip I believe) is completely unhelpful, not customer oriented and a straight-up liar. I had made a reservation for a pickup at the Leesburg location and drop off at the Falls Church location. I received confirmation 3 days prior to the reservation date and everything was in order. Upon arriving at the pick up location, I was told by the girl at the computer that the truck had to be returned to the Leesburg location. When I brought up the fact that my reservation had been confirmed as one way, she called her boss who immediately went on the defensive insisting that I had to return it to him (39 miles out of my way might I add) even going so far as to say "Do you want me to give the prices for fucking Penske?" Having worked in rentals before, I know that this is completely unacceptable behavior. After much arguing and the manager not budging at all, I told him to just give me the truck and that I'd return it to his location. As he handed me the keys he apologized and said that someone somewhere else had screwed up. My contract that I had just signed had the return location as Falls Church however, so I just nodded and took the keys. As soon as I left the lot, I called customer service to complain and straighten out the issue. Upon hearing my complaint, my reservation was pulled up and I was told "No, what he told you is wrong. Your contract clearly shows that you have a one way contract and so should return the truck to Falls Church." The customer service rep was surprised by this manager's actions. I will never use this Uhaul location again and will steer everyone I can away from them.

The self service check in was not smooth. And after making and cancelling 2 reservations because your online system kept adding utility dollies to my order that I didn't need, I ended up being charged for using one anyway when I didn't pick it up. That is an unmanned location and I would've needed a code to get into the building to get the dolly and no code was given. I emailed the rep who sent me my final bill but still haven't heard back.
