the 10ft truck I requested was not available at my preferred location, so I was moved to this one. When I arrived, I saw only a 15ft truck and saw my reservation had changed to a 15ft truck. This was not an upgrade as I specifically wanted a 10ft. The location would not pick up their phone and it took 10 minutes for me to discover that I had to go through the connected corner store and work with the very busy cashier attendant/owner, who seemed new to u-Haul rental. I received no Written contract nor proof of current fuel level, which ended up being a costly issue at the end of the trip.

BRIAN VMake the approval process a little faster
RYAN SI was incredibly disappointed with my recent U-Haul rental experience. It started off poorly when U-Haul called me the day before my reservation to change the pickup location to a spot 5 miles further away, costing me extra mileage charges ($4) unnecessarily. What made the experience significantly worse was the pickup location itself—a Quickie Mart in an unsafe area. The employee there explicitly told me to park my car in a limited, specific spot so he could monitor it on surveillance cameras. This comment left me uneasy and worried about my vehicle's safety the entire time I was renting the van. Adding to the frustration, I was told I needed to refill the gas tank before returning the van, even though I was already paying $0.79 per mile for mileage. The gas cap wasn’t in a standard location, so I had to seek assistance just to figure out how to refuel it. Lastly, when I returned the van, I was informed that I couldn’t leave the moving blankets/pads in the vehicle. Instead, I had to carry them from the back of the parking lot into the front of the Quickie Mart—an unnecessary hassle after an already frustrating rental experience. This experience fell far short of the standard I expect from U-Haul. I’ll certainly think twice before renting from them again, especially if I have to pick up from a similar location.
