Truck was filthy. 2 inches of dust on the dash area. Had to clean before we used it. Totally unacceptable. How does something like this happen!!! U-Haul should be embarassed. And we get charged $25 for "someone" at the location to clean it for the next client. Unacceptable.
michael BThe truck in question, literally had such a severe mechanical malfunction that when I tried to return it, the only thing preventing it from literally rolling with no control was my foot on the brake pedal. The gear shift, the battery, the engine, everything was unresponsive. So I am alone in a dark parking lot in an area I'm unfamiliar with, without any ability to leave the truck without it literally rolling out of control. I am sitting trying to get through to customer service waiting, with no idea of how long i'm going to be sitting there proverbially trapped. There was nobody at the facility that I could get help from. And if there had been any kind of emergency, I would have had to choose to leave the truck and face, whatever damage costs occurred from a mechanical failure, far beyond anything I could have caused in its use. I had noticed at one point on the way returning it, the check engine light coming on. But I didn't think much of it, because I thought to myself, well, they wouldn't let me rent a truck that was dangerous. I was wrong.
Katarina EI rented the truck for a total of two weeks. I drove it 5 miles. I photographed the gas gauge at the pick up time and it was a little less than a quarter of a tank, although the paperwork indicated it had a quarter of a tank at that time.I put five dollars in when before I return the truck and took a photo of the gas gauge and the gas gauge was at the same location. They charged me for putting fuel in and for fuel. My daughter runs a business in Chicago and I do about four one-way trips a year in a U-Haul totaling about $8000. I guess I’m gonna have to switch to Penske, or someone else.
Edward MThe UHaul had a frustrating issue with the gas tank, where every 1/20th of a gallon, it would trip the nozzle (as though the tank were full). This made refueling very frustrating and much longer than it should have been.
