I am disappointed with my experience with U-Haul’s storage business, especially the limited assistance available when customers lose or have stolen keys and face potential security compromises. As a storage customer, I expected to have access to a reasonable, clearly communicated process for resolving a lock-and-access problem. Unfortunately, when I lost access to my storage units, the assistance available to me was insufficient to resolve the situation. The lack of a practical solution left me unable to access my belongings and ultimately led me to abandon the storage units. I understand that storage facilities must maintain strict security procedures to protect customers’ property. However, security policies should be accompanied by reasonable procedures that help authorized customers regain access when keys are lost or stolen. Customers should not be left feeling that they have no viable options when an access issue arises.

There were people begging for money on one occasion while trying to move belongings in which I felt uncomfortable with, but that was in the alley adjacent to the facility so not sure they could do much about it.
