I am beyond frustrated with the service I received from U-Haul. After being displaced from our home due to Hurricane Helene, we are finally starting renovations and needed a reliable place to store our belongings during this process. I booked a rental truck for pick-up at 6 PM on Saturday with a return by 2 AM, along with an indoor 5x10x8 storage unit that was advertised as accessible until 10 PM. However, when I arrived at the location and completed the check-in process, I was informed that the indoor unit was only accessible until 7 PM—not the 10 PM as stated online. By then, it was already 6:30 PM, leaving us with only 30 minutes to load, drive, and unload, which was unrealistic. To make it work, we decided to pay double for an outdoor storage unit that would allow access beyond 7 PM. After loading the rental truck and returning to the facility, we discovered that the assigned outdoor unit was locked. We attempted to contact customer service, and instead of resolving the issue, we were told to extend the rental truck for an additional $45. The inconvenience, misinformation, and lack of customer support were completely unacceptable. This experience added unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. I expected better from a company that markets itself as reliable during times of need.
